VINTAGE VIDEOS FROM THE ’WRONG TURN 2’ NY PREMIERE!
In honor of the 5 FRIGHTFEST short-films that Joe Lynch and Adam Green put together and posted on-line this past month, we've decided to share with you 2 rarely seen videos. About a year ago, a few days prior to the release of WRONG TURN 2: DEAD END, Fox had scheduled for 2 theatrical screenings of WRONG TURN 2 on the big screen. One was set for New York, while the other one was set for LA. Unfortunately, both screenings were set for the exact same evening, and director Joe Lynch couldn't make it back to his native New York to see the flick with his family. (Long Island, represent!)
The ICONS crew had prepared in advance to make something a little special from the screening for Joe. Adam Barnick brought his camera and planned to film audience reactions and thoughts following the screening with Joe's family, friends and fans. Much to our surprise, Joe himself has surprised us with a special video introduction that started the entire evening off, mentioning and thanked the ICONS crew. So below are those 2 videos. The first being Joe's video introduction to the NY premiere of WRONG TURN 2 (note: it played at the Two Boots which is part pizza-place), and the second being ICONS video to Joe from the premiere. ADAM GREEN & JOE LYNCH’S "ROAD TO FRIGHTFEST" SHORT FILMS!
Those fine filmmaking fiends Adam Green and Joe Lynch had something really special planned this year for the audience of the annual UK FRIGHTFEST. The duo created 5 short films, all loose parodies of the opening scene of THE TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, to debut each night of the film festival, and from what we've heard... these guys stole the show.
Green, the writer/director of HATCHET and SPIRAL, and Lynch the director of WRONG TURN 2 both have had successful screenings of their films at the festival, so this was their special treat for the fans.
Filmmaker Christopher P. Garetano has officially launched COTTONMOUTH.TV, a new website dedicated to celebrating all things spooky for the entire month of October and leading up to the premiere of his new short film COTTONMOUTH, based upon the Steve Bissette strip from the legendary comic book GORE SHRIEK Issue One!
At the site, you can access several FREE videos. See the COTTONMOUTH trailer at "THE FILM" section. "TRICKS" offers you a chance to investigate "The Lab" and learn how to do make-up FX with basic store bought items. Hosted by WICKED EFX's Jay Alvino! There's also "On The Set", a weekly series of featurettes that will show you the behind the scenes of COTTONMOUTH. Created by Christopher P. Garetano (Horror Business), COTTONMOUTH.TV is a celebration of horror movies, comic books and Halloween. The forthcoming website was initially conceived as a unique venue to premiere the short film of the same name. Directed by Garetano, Cottonmouth is a meticulously crafted mini-movie that aims to scare the hell out of its audience.
In 1986 artist Steve Bissette (Swamp Thing, Taboo) crafted a three-page horror story that was published in the pages of an underground horror comic titled Gore Shriek. Cottonmouth is his macabre story of four angry ghosts who take their revenge on the "company man" who was responsible for their deaths. Now filmmaker Christopher P. Garetano has brought Cottonmouth to life for the Internet generation.
On October 1, 2008, COTTONMOUTH.TV will go live, first with a variety of short vignettes, and then with Cottonmouth the movie premiering on October 31st. The vignettes will include behind-the-scenes footage of Cottonmouth, "How to Make a Monster" with Wicked Effects makeup artist Jay Alvino, the eerie music of Chris Alexander, a history of horror comics with Steve Bissette and Trevor Cook, true ghost stories, and a special Halloween episode of the Internet show America's Bad Kids.
Cottonmouth merchandise will also be available from the site but the movie and other viewing content is all free. Visitors are encouraged (but not obligated) to donate to one of two charities that include a prominent cancer research foundation and an organization for a rare disease called Penthigus.

Just added! A FIRST LOOK REVIEW for the Swedish vampire flick LET THE RIGHT ONE IN! (Låt den rätte komma in) Directed by Tomas Alfredson from a script by John Ajvide Lindqvist (and based on his original novel of the same name), LET THE RIGHT ONE IN stars Kåre Hedebrant as Oskar and Lina Leandersson as Eli. The story centers around the shy & often bullied 12 year old Oskar and his blossoming relationship with his new neighbor Eli. Eli however isn't like other 12 year old girls. Oskar believes she may be a vampire.
LET THE RIGHT ONE IN is a movie that ICONS OF FRIGHT stands 100% behind. Guillermo del Toro said, "As delicate, haunting and poetic a film as you're ever bound to see... A chilling fairy tale." And it's already being remade (sigh) for American audiences by CLOVERFIELD director Matt Reeves. Magnet, the horror sub-division of Magnolia Pictures will release it theatrically on October 24th. The flick marked his return to the "zombie" genre which he created back 1968 with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. In celebration of this release, ICONS and Tim Sullivan have decided to reprint 2 vintage interviews with George A. Romero and Greg Nicotero. (His guests included John Landis, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, John Boorman) He went on to write for Steven Spielberg on AMAZING STORIES, then directed CRITTERS 2: THE MAIN COURSE, the prequel/sequel PSYCHO IV: THE BEGINNING starring Anthony Perkins, and later went on to work with Stephen King more then any other filmmaker on such films as SLEEPWALKERS, THE STAND, THE SHINING, RIDING THE BULLET & DESPERATION. (His next King adaptation will be BAG OF BONES!) He also created Showtime's hit series MASTERS OF HORROR, as well as it's NBC follow-up FEAR ITSELF!
