They search for answers

They search for reasons

They search for meaning behind their findings.

Yet, chance has no meaning.

Chance has no reason.

Chance has no answers to give them rest.

Old Words
Category: Religion and Philosophy

So a question came to me from a friend regarding truth and how can something be trusted... Especially something old?  His comment was this... "My biggest skepticism with Christianity is that the Bible was written thousands of years ago and by humans.  How do I believe in something that was written by humans?  Something that seems too fantasnic?

...You might ask yourself if it is possible to write about an experience or event that happened in your own life? - One that tells the truth? The fact that a man was born 2000 years ago or 20 years ago does not disqualify him from being able to write or paint or talk about a true account of a true event that happened in his life time. A book is no different than a spoken word, a painting or a text message.  As humans we communicate using many different methods, but they all accomplish the same purpose. The Bible is a book penned by mans hand. This is true. But, show me a book in the world that isn't? All throughout history books have been written by mankind. The question is which one is telling the truth?  We write down stories to pass on knowledge... So what if the true knowledge of this life happens to be an unbelievable story?  What if it just happens to be more than you expected?  Considering that neither you nor I expected to have life in the first place, it would seem rather presumptuous (even arrogant) to say that there can not be more to this life.  Even from the perspective of a chance creature (evolutionist), life is believed to have endless potential... The real question is "Where are we at along life's road?."  Have we come a long way?  Or, have we fallen along way?   The words of old, passed down through the ages simply tells us that we are not on the cutting edge of lifes potential, but rather, true life has been around for a very long time and we have fallen away from the ways, the balance and harmony that hold it together and make it so beautiful... As it is written:

"Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity" [Psalms 93:2]

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" — [Isaiah 64:4] [1Corth 2:9]

The Chronicles of little Timmy

The Chronicles of little Timmy

And there was found in that place a young boy.  His name - little Timmy.  A curious looking boy with a strong vibrant heart.  He often intently looked at things around him with a genuine desire to know about them and understand them.  He was often challenged by a certain teacher at his school named Dr. Chance.  Dr. Chance seemed to know quite a lot about everything.  But, little Timmy always found a way to shine new light on questions Dr. Chance asked... In turn Dr. Chance often found himself the one being taught through the eyes of a child all over again... One day on blue berry hill Dr. Chance posed a few questions to little Timmy... What follows is an account of there talks...

Dr. Chance

I consider myself a sensible and rational man.  And as such, I would have to say that I find it rather unbelievable that life came from God.

Little Timmy

Hmm..  You say that as if to suggest that life coming from nothing is not unbelievable...

Dr. Chance

Well, for one, Timmy, what kind of loving God would allow children around the world (like yourself) to starve to death?

Little Timmy

What kind of men would not feed them?  God has put responsibility in the hands of men and women...

Dr. Chance

Hmm.. perhaps, but how is anyone expected to accept that Jesus rose to life after being dead for three days?  We know that the dead remain dead!

Little Timmy

Is that really what you teach Dr. Chance? - that the dead remain dead...?

Isn't it true that in your books and lectures you have said

"In the beginning, the universe was lifeless and dead?"

and yet, you say: "Non-living matter rose to life?"

How then can you say that nothing rises from the dead?

Dr. Chance

I suppose I hadn't really thought it that way before.  How would you explain this talk of the virgin Mary?  Jesus born of a virgin?  We know that a virgin can not conceive life on her own.

Little Timmy

Haven't you said in your own teachings that

"in the beginning Mother Earth was barren and lifeless."

and yet, you say, "Life was conceived"

Now if you find it unbelievable for a woman to bring forth one life without a man, how much more astonished should you be that the mother of all virgins, mother earth, would conceive all life without a God?

To the woman I've never met
Category: Writing and Poetry

I dream of your smile.

I dream of your touch.

Your natural curves.

Where are you my love?

I fall to my knees.

I fall to my knees

Longing to catch sight of you

In your red strapless dress.

Your fair hair just covering the soft

Contours of your shoulder.

Though we've never met,

I miss you.

Though we've never touched,

I've fallen in love with you.

From the foundation of the world,

You are my wife.

My Love ~

the Matter of narrow mindedness
Current mood: contemplative
Category: Writing and Poetry

What bias Matter woven through this frame

Appearing in a flash, with a bang.

How dare it choose a form at all?

Narrow the path it forms the living

Curious, as though it's worth something.

And what intellect it boasts to have

From father nothing and mother void.

What narrow way it grants a life

In the image of DNA

Or, so they say...

Perhaps?
Current mood: Reflective
Category: Reflective Religion and Philosophy

Perhaps?

Perhaps, we could be part of a universe that was formed for a reason and with a purpose in mind.

Perhaps the structure of our DNA has structure because it has an architect.

Perhaps the world holds such beauty, balance and form because it was formed by a beautifully balanced God.

Perhaps our hearts burn with artistic passion because we are the children of a great artist.

Perhaps, we have such a desire for the supernatural because, we are secretly supernatural by nature - just as the caterpillar is secretly a butterfly by nature.

Perhaps, we speak of eternal love because there is One who offers it to us.

Perhaps we desire so much more out of life because, there is more life to be had.

Perhaps we wail and cry-out when our loved one slips away from the living because, deep down we know that they were never meant to be with the dead.

Perhaps, life is bigger than we thought

- Perhaps Jesus...

Big Universe
Current mood: Reflective

Big Universe

Some find it hard to believe that God would make such a large universe as a playground for so few people. But, they fail to recognize how silly and uninspiring it would be for God to have made a small universe for so many people. Imagine a universe with one sun, a moon and a planet? Imagine only two lights in the heavens. Imagine plane black skies and confused ships at sea. Imagine lost wishes for lack of shooting stars. Imagine a small place. Perhaps God has made a big universe to show us that He is a big God. Perhaps as we look out into the endless galaxies, God is giving us a sense of something eternal, of something desirable and of something more. In a small universe we would undoubtably throw down our space toys in disgust saying, "There is nowhere left to go and nothing left to explore!" But, as the saying goes, "The grass is always greener" and in the case of the big universe being too big, we are in all truth arguing that the grass is too green. We are saying that life is too much of an adventure and not enough of a bore; as if the rainbow has far to many colors and flowers should really be in black and white. As children we often complained of having nothing to do, but now, as some sort of puffed-up intellectual, we are denouncing God for giving us to much.

On believing whatever you want to believe...
Current mood: Reflective
Category: Reflective Religion and Philosophy

On Believing whatever you want to believe

Who has really thought through this idea of believing whatever you want to believe? What is someone really suggesting when they say that you should believe whatever you want to believe? What they are really saying if you look in to it is, "feel free to live in ignorance!" For there can only be one true story of the world. There can only be one way in which the world came into existence and that way is the true story of the world. Just as there was only one way in which you were born into this world. The events that took place on the day of your birth tell the true story of your birth. If your mother labored for only six hours then, the true story of your mothers labor is that she labored for six hours. Any other story of her labor is false. Any other description other than the true description of how the events unfolded would be untrue. There is only one true story of what truly happened that day. And so, there is only one true story of how the world began and only one true history of the life of man. Consider this, imagine a womans husband comes home after being mysteriously gone for three days. The wife says, "Where have you been?". He answers, "Believe whatever you want to believe".  Would that be an acceptable answer? I wouldn't suggest it! The truth is we DO want to know the truth - about each other. Why do we give up so easily when it comes to finding the truth about life? It is out there! I would suggest considering what Jesus has to say... Why?  Because of all who ever walked the earth,  He spoke as one who clearly  knew more then us all... He did not come into the world to find the true story of the world as other men do.  But, He came into the world to tell the true story of the world as no other man could.

Great Minds
Current mood: Reflective
Category: Reflective Religion and Philosophy

    Great Minds

It is not so much that the great minds in history were fantastic in the sense that they created the unthinkable formula. Those men and women did not breathe a mathematical formula into existence, as if the universe listened to their idea in astonishment and decided to put it to use. They only found something that had already been there. And, it should be clear that the scientist did not create the atom. He simply describes the attitude and nature of the atom as best he can. He may even rearrange atoms into various different concoctions but, only in the sort of way that a painter may find new shades of color by mixing paint. The greatness of these men and women was not so much in there 'making' of science but in there 'finding' it. As it is written, 'Seek and you shall find'. The problem is that many do not seek with a consuming passion as some through history have.

Just as Adam did not speak the lion or lamb into existence but merely named them, so also, the square of the hypotenuse had already been there, we just found it and gave it a name. The mysteries of the universe are not made by mankind but, they are there for mankind to discover. The interesting thing is this; if we think of those who discovered some of the unthinkably complex laws of the universe as genius, what about the One who put them their? Unless of course your willing to live with the idea that they just accidentally fell into place without ever accidentally falling out of place. If that were the case, one may rightly wonder why we call them genius at all. For what genius is required in discovering an accident? Cracking the mysteries of the universe may be worth something if they were intelligently put together but, what is it to our credit in fumbling around in a mysterious fluke? How would we even define what an accident is if everything in existence were here by accident? Was there ever a point in time when things began to happen on purpose? You can not start everything by accident and then somewhere along the line decide that from now on things are happening on purpose. So it eventually becomes plain to see if one is willing to spend some time thinking about it that all things (including you and I) are either here on purpose or without purpose. If everything about you is the product of an accident then nothing about you is the result of purpose. Either your life means something or it means nothing. What value does it hold?

According to that theoretical accident called evolution, it would seem that everything that exists was never intended to be in existence, in the sense that, the universe according to certain individuals supposedly does not reflect any significant evidence of orderly intelligence. Of course, the very ones who say such things would most likely consider themselves intelligent. I find a fascinating thing at work in the world. The very men who claim there is know intelligent design behind the world will emphatically insist the intelligent design behind the wheel barrel. We would go out of our way to prove the intelligent form and handy work of a toothpick but are unwilling to recognize any such thing in the tooth.

What about the structure of DNA, was it an accident? An accidental sequence that accidentally came together, and by accidentally reproducing itself, it accidentally improved itself?... Something to think about... Indeed, we are the luckiest of the lucky!

If, in fact, this code system(DNA) were the actual source of our being, that is, if the talk of the Spirit were nothing more than fantasy and fairytales, then, this would reveal the very epitome of a cruel joke. For this would mean that 'matter' is in the habit of organizing itself into a complex code system(leading to what we call intelligence) only to look back upon itself and realize that it is, in fact, not significant at all, only a fluke formation that for no rational reason is under the curious suspicion that it is worth something.

We would seem far more miraculous as an accident than we would as a created being. For it is a far greater miracle for something without intelligence to produce something that is intelligent, as apposed to, an intelligence coming into the world and walking on the water which He created...
