Ravetastic

Ravetastic

June 20th I am my motly crew of roomates and a friend or two will be driving up into the hills to camp with 200 or so other strangers at somethinc called Esthetic Evolution. It's a 3 day art and life celebration ... or so they say. What I have heard is that it's a crazy 3 day party all night and all day with food, crazy costumes, art exhibits and oh yea, naked raver teens.

I have hopes and I have expectactions. They do not coinside. I hope to meet fun friendly and sexy people who are intelligent and interested in conversation, dancing, sharing food and sex. What I will most likely get is hundreds of people between 16 and 22 out to do drugs and drool over the pretty lights.

I hope to see some amazing art exhibits. Crazy light shows, and the fire cannon blasting into the night. What I'll probebly get is 15 otaku spining glowsticks to a crap ass DJ.

This is, however, not without it's appeal. It's my chance to act like one of the stupid masses and to live simply for a few days. I'm taking lots of extra food and booze in an effort to bribe and by friends while I'm there (as well as lots of extra condoms), and nothing attracts people like the sweet sweet smell of fresh coffee from a camp site. It's like bait for civil morning conversations. I am also taking my Project Silence Costume with me so that I can mime it up and make friends like what happened at Anime Oasis.

Speaking of Project Silence, the City of Boise is going to Pay us to entertain at their saturday markets, and at the Harvest festival in august. I am now a monkey for hire :D

And that's the way it is. Hope you all have a nice morning.

Ethics

Ethics

In my time learning about my chosen career, I have come accross an interesting concept: Ethics. I have also had my frist conflict with Ethics, and I was suprissed to find that it wasn't my actions that needed assessing.

Client A comes into the office. We'll call her Sue. Sue is manic. Very manic. And she's looking for drugs. How do I know she's looking for drugs? Because she says "let me tell you my story" and then presedes to unleash a diatribe of crazy history with useless doctors, all of whom wont give her her drugs. The drug she's after is a Narcotic. In the medical comunity, you can only pick them up in 1 place in town, and the doctor cannot fax in the Rx, they have to call and say "I am sending over Client X for so many miligrams of Drug Y".

So back to Sue. Sue needs this drug for damage to her siatic nerve. She has in the past had a ganuine Rx for this drug, and is hoping we can help her. We don't do physical drugs. If she wanted to dope out on Lithium we could help her, but that's not what she's after.

But I digress. I'll talk about the drug seaker with anyone who wants to talk to me in private about it. The ethics part comes with what my co-worker did. She had one meeting with Sue and decided that she would not take the case. (A wise idea that I support). But when I asked her if she had refered her to another office, the counselor said no. She also told me not to call Sue and tell Sue that we would not be taking her case. This Master of Couseling didn't think the crazy lady would be coming back.

So Sue calls a week later and says "WTF, where's my appointment... where's my help". And it is now up to me to deal with Sue. I tell Sue we're not taking her case, in the nicest way possible. I offer her the referals my co-worker should have offered a week ago. Sue hangs up. I tell the Master of Couseling that Sue called and yadda yadda. The Clitiens response is to lock the doors and turn the lights off "In case Sue comes by wanting to talk to us".

I looked up this sort of thing. Turns out 1: Not providing referal and 2: Avoiding contact count as ethical violations that could cost you your liscense. Not to mention it's weak and cowardly. I told the Master of Counseling this. It has caused stress at my new job that I love.

The office manager gets back into the office this weekend. Back to work on monday... I will talk with her then...

Cowards piss me off.

Dylan Thomas, 1951

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Cannaling a Root
Current mood: blah

Today I had a root cannal.

For those of you that do not know, a root cannal is when they drill a hole into your tooth, use various metal impliments to remove the root, rinse it out with caustic chemicals, then fill the hole with resin. It has also been called the single most painful thing you can have done at the dentist.

I was lied too.

It actually was not painful at all. I got 2 shots of local anysthetic in my jaw, and the rest is a bored Spike drooling on himself for 2 hours. The worst part was the waiting. Cuz first they clean you out, then they run this chemical into yoru tooth that has to "irrigate the cannal" for a bit... 5 times ... rinse and repeat...very boring.

So now I'm home. My jaw is still numb, and I can't eat for another hours or so. That's my story.

Bleh all around.

Capoeira

So, I'm lazy. I've been lazy for a long time. And it's starting to show. Last year I tried to pick up Aikido, and it was pretty neat, but mostly boring. Gave me some cool party tricks, but that's about it... I don't like looking lazy. I want to be fit, trim, and called sexy by skinny people. So I've been looking for some physical activity to do that will keep my interest, and not bore the crap out of me, and also get me mad with the fitness.

Side note: Parkour
In France and other countries in Europe there is a sport called Parkour. American's and other english speakers call it freerunning. Essencial it's crazy urban ninja shit, doing flips and rolls and running up walls and all kinds of other fun acrobatic monkey crap. All the stuff I used to do when I was younger, but got yelled at or teased for, so I stopped. And now, years later, I find out that in Europe it's ok! There's even schools for it.

Back to the story. Eveyone who's played Tekken knows what Capoeira is. It's that crazy spinny bullshyte that Eddie does in that game. The button smasher's dream. Well, I did a little looking and sure enough, there's 2 places in town that run classes for it. So being the bored monkey that I am, I want on down and tried it out.

I am now very tired. 90minutes of non-stop motion with crazy hand-stands and kicks ... my body hurts. But I am happy! It was fun, energetic, entertaining and will also build up the much sought after muscle mass.

So call me a button masher, but I'm gonna try this Capoeira thing and see where it takes me. If I crack my fool monkey head open you can all point and laugh.

Here's some video's. Wish me luck!

Public Service Announcement.

I only speak the truth.
I do not lie.
I do not cheat.
I do steal.
I am a moral cesspool.
I believe that there is no good or evil, bad or good, right or wrong.
I believe all things are subject to interpretation. Variable and misperceavable.

If all things are subjective, then how can there be truth, you may ask.
Truth is what happened. Objectivly. What was actually said and done. Truth has no intentions. Truth has no feelings. Truth is only action.
Actions are percieved by people.
Perceptions are subjective.

The truth is only the truth. How you see it is up to you.

I am a horrible person
and the best friend you will ever have.

Wait ... what just happened to me ?

It has come to my attention that I am friends with a number of Environmentalists, Hippies, Vegans and other "tree-hugger" types.

I mean no offence to any of my friends. This is just a general notice to all of you.

I am not an environmentalist. I like the taste of dead animals. I think the world will be what the world will be. And if that means the world is turned into a steaming pile of spent oil, then so be it. We're not destroying the world, we're just making it uninhabitable to human life.

I find it interesting that the scientific community accepts the theory of evolution, but also assumes that evolution somehow stopped when it got to Human. Like we're the best there can be...

So, in conclusion, ladies and jellyspoons: I like you, but disagree with your ideals. As long as you can deal with that, there wont be any problems.

Also, just for the record: I may be a city slicker in every sence of the word, but I was also a boyscout, a mountain/rock climber, a surfer... I can build a fire ... kill, dress and cook game... I know that green ivy with 3 leaves is bad ... and to burry my poop when I'm done...

I tell everyone that ignorance is no excuse, and I live what I preach.

End transmition

9-11
Current mood: disappointed

In my usual cynical way, I want to tear melodramatic and sentimental concepts apart... but out of respect for the people who lived through it, I'll keep my coments brief.

What makes this day different December 7th, the day Pearl Harbor was attacked... or November 22nd, the day John F. Kennedy was shot... or how bout the day that the Nazi internment camps we established... or the day they were shut down?

Tragety happens every day in this world, to millions of people you will never meet or even hear of. We respect best by moving on and making the world a place where their deaths can mean something.

9-11 is the modern era's Hero story. It provided an opportunity for great people to shine all the brighter, and evil people to let the world know that they're still there. But it is not the only day in history to have done this, and will not be the last.

You don't have to forget to make me happy. But you do have to forgive, and move the FUCK on!

*ahem*

Bored raiding guilds
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Games

So, yesterday was raid day for my guild on WoW. We managed to get 15 guildies all together in one place, and went to AQ20. Most of us were over 65, so it wasn't too bad. We downed 2 bosses and wiped twice on Osirin.

Osirin is a bad, bad man, full of hate.

So there we are... 18 guild members (cuz more kept logging on), tired of AQ after 3 or hours, and so we decide to go visit the horde.

First we went to Undercity.
I used to be very impressed with the defences of undercity. Now that I'm over 60, not so much. We went through the sewer enterence and made a line straight for the Royal Quarter. In the Royal quarter, we found out why Silvanus is the Banshidhe Queen. between her and Varimathrus, and the 8 lvl 70 PVP geared Hordies who showed up, we got pretty owned. But that's not the fun part ^_^
We had a Mage with us. and a Warlock or two. So standing over our bodies in the hallway in front of Silvanus, we all rez all at once (using Vent to coordinate) and hold everything off long enough for the mage to cast a portal to Iron Forge.
So in UC, we walked in, kicked a bee hive, and ported away in about 30minutes. It was Spectacular. Everyone made it out. The last one out had to be summoned by the warlocks, but it was so much fun!

Still bored, we went to Thunder Bluff next.
Now up to 20 raiders, all raid geared and fully buffed, we all got on the elevator at the same time and poured into the first level of TB. We killed every NPC and guard and the first level, then went up the tower and killed the Wyvern Master, then started on Cairne's level, before any players showed up to defend TB (because they'd all spent their hearth stones to get to UC)
Cairne Bloodhoof is bad. He hits you with that tree he carries and knocks you away. If you're not careful, you'll end up getting booted off the island, so to speak, cuz he'll hit you right off over the edge. Plus the endless sea of guards that get spawend.
We didn't kill him, but we held TB for about 30minutes fore moving on...

To Silvermoon
While playing my horde toons, I have often thought that attacking Silvermoon would be suicide. I was wrong. The streets are so wide that you can walk (or ride) down the middle of them without agroing the city. So we rode all the way to the Court of the Sun without really having to fight anything. There's this great bridge with 12 guards on it, right in front of the Bosses (2 of them) in Silvermoon. By the time we made it up there, the same 8 lvl 70 hordies were inside the boss room waiting for us. So we killed the guards, then through caution to the wind and charged.... we died very quickly. But it was a lot of fun. And we managed to group all our dead bodies on the bridge between the lines of guards.
When it was time to leave Silvermoon, we timed out rezing so that a Priest Rezed first and Psycic Screamed (AoE Fear), then we run, and as we passed the hordies who were gathered on the bridge waiting for us, one of the Locks Howl or Terrored (AoE Fear). So while the guards and the players are running around like funny looking Epic gear wearing monkies, we mounted up and rode out of their city.

All and all, a very fun few hours or wow last night. Still no Realm Forums post about it yet... but one is bound to come.

See ya

Most Expensive weekend ever

So... I'm going to the Jareth Ball. (http://www.labyrinthmasquerade.com/) This trip is fast becoming the most expensive I have every had. You all know the joy of scrounging for cash to go to a con, well this is no different. It lasts for 2 days in Hollywood.

Here's the list so far:

3 Tickets to the event: $180
2 Tickets to the Dinner: $60
Hotel for 2 nights: $400
Costume (just mine, not her's): est: $200
Gas to get there: $100
Food: est $100

Now, I wont be the only person paying for this, but I will be soaking up the brunt of the costs ... We're up to $1040 so far.

But it gets better!

This ball is the Beginning of the trip, not the end. We plan to spend 10 days in San Diego and LA. We may have to cut it short due to money.

The reason I bring this up, is because my Birthday (27) is on July 18th, which is durring the trip. So anyone who was intending to send me a gift, or a dinner or some such, PLEASE SEND MONEY

Heh ... that about sums it up.
Back to my set building ;)
