Stinky
Category: Art and Photography

I realized that I have some stuff I've forgotten to post recently.  This is a portrait of a friend's cat.

This is a method I'm still experimenting with. Lessons have been learned, but overall I'm happy with it. Here's a shot of the component pieces:

And here's something I made as a lark:

"Children" pt. 1: Booker Little
Category: Art and Photography

8.25" x 11" Acrylic on masking tape on paper, cut up and reassemble with ample amounts of matte medium

Here's a photograph from the side to get a sense of the depth of the layers.

Booker Little was a prodigy who held great promise as a leading trumpeter of his generation. Showing great potential of technique, innovation and composition, he was given little chance to pursue it. At 23 years of age in 1961, Little succumbed to Uraemia. Despite this tragedy, he left a strong discography relative to his years. He showed a particular chemistry with the avant garde reedsman Eric Dolphy, most notably a series of live recordings from the 5 Spot clubs that remain classics of the genre.

I'll be in New York this week

Tomorrow until Thursday.

I have a piece in this show:

(My name is two lines under "Third Prize.")

I'll be at the reception too.

This is the piece in the show:

See you all next week.

Actually I probably still won't, but that doesn't mean I don't love you.

Does it work better?  Worse?  The same?  Since these are experiments, all feedback is useful!

3rd Test
Category: Art and Photography

This guy is only 10" x 10".  I wanted to see what happens if you try to weave scurved scraps of canvas together.  Answer: chaos ensues.

This photo is darker but captures the texture better:

My new office
Category: Art and Photography

I just changed offices at work.  I used to sit alone in a windowless hole, but now I share a window office with another paralegal.  So far I'd have to say the window beats all other considerations by far.  Most attorneys here face away from their windows and close their curtains.  They are insane.  Here are three photos from my desk.

The problem with photos is you don't get the sense of motion that really makes the visual stimulation make the day a million times better.  You can watch the weather change from sunny to foggy and back, see jet trails diffuse, birds chase each other.  It suddenly make work worth going to.
