Don’t close your eyes, this is your life, are you who you want to be
Current mood: drained
Such is life both a kind and cruel storm, at times refreshes us with a mist cooling upon our heads and other times a gale that dashes us against the rocks and a shore ungiving to the human heart.
I find myself in a place of great soul ache and great hope at the same time. There is a flickering down deep that i've felt for a while; now i don't know what it represents but i have hope unbreaking as i always have. for in such these times where fear and unrest are seductive mistresses calling many an unwed sailor to the rocks abound, i will forge a path through the darkness and wade through even death to find where this hope beckons.
for to long the Christian has lived a mediocre life and yet demanded that the world about meet them at that level. this is why the world around us scoffs and rejects what is said. they see so through the mediocre and want none of it. nevermore shall that be a curse upon the Called! demand a life of sacrifice and one that reeks of awesomeness or as a wise woman once told me, a life "made of awesome." is that to much to ask for you Christian? does that somehow conflict with your self-serving me-me-only watered down church message? Do you not see you were born to be more? Is the church no longer promoting God's design but there own frail social bubble? I can stand it no longer, my mane ablaze is how i feel about all this. such a putrid stench is the self-centered Christian who seeks only after the blessings but not the relationship.
"if death is your destiny then by all means love jesus with an open wallet and shallow heart that beats for the newest and easiest way to limit your time with Him to only 30, 15, 10, 5 minutes a day; but if Life is your goal, then such can only be lived once death has been realized, and decimated. only when real Death is realized, can true Life begin." - - R. Cale
we no longer have such an excuse but to continue as warriors tried and true. stand ready, for life is coming and she is not happy with us. * * * *
And So - by J. Pascale
and so it strikes me, the heavens bleed through, life tends to kill me so where am i now? broken down by the piercing flame above. it shatters my heart as my dreams dissolve. unto you i have prayed, now my you i'm being remade in the blood of heros. and so it strikes me, strikes me like a blade, this pain of myself, this crushing blow all reduce me to who i need to be.
there is always hope. . . . but where does she rest? is it not that we search in misguided intent, or be it that she cannot be found when character isn't true? i have seen her once. her eyes were glistening like diamonds resting in the heart of a star, miles away from me, and yet close enough to touch. she is the sunlight that bleeds through darkness' dominance, her voice is the calm stillness in seething fires of vanity. she is hope, and she is not lost.
light come upon this, our sorrow-filled path, dark and alone, each day seems like night but be with strength and poise, weary hearts for there is a light that shines though the branches of hopelessness take in good conscience that the road still leads to Heaven. never was this the easy path, no, how could it be so, no, but this path, this rigid climb into the hearts of us all, while not one that's taken with ease, but is the one that is most valuable and most precious to the gates of Heaven.
Long is the road ahead, dark are our days of late, yet in all night skies must burn the Sonlight of the coming 'marrow. so weary hearts, do not trod your hope beneath the dust of weary soles, but take rest that your soul is nourished by the hope that lies beyond; the faith that hold you to the path; and the love that beckons you to the Gate. light shine down upon this, our sorrow-filled path give us the strength to find You. * * * *
Second guess not the design that God has established, for whence time unfolds it's last, and the sky breaks apart at His presence, and when all men will then see Death's Bane many an eye will shed blood as tears when such beauty will never be realized for those whom plodded their own path.
this is said in words more beautiful than i can pen
"If we discover a desire within us that nothing in this world can satisfy, also we should begin to wonder if perhaps we were created for another world." - - C.S. Lewis
I feel that, deep inside the well that is quite dry within. I feel as if i'm trapped in the wrong time.
"There are many of us, maybe, who find the most comfort in believing they are lost in historys story and possibly out of time, but to God, we are most effective where He has put us." - - R. Cale

Control is dead in this blind world for we do what we hate
Current mood: calm
so times change and lives go on. the girl i'd been dating for while, we just called it quits. but the reasons were good. God had become distant in the life she had and i for one, once hearing this, was quite supportive of the dissolving of the relationship. I should never be put before God. trust me, i'd make a horrid god and or idol.
props to her for seeing that and being mature enough to bring it to light.
:)
but in all things life is good. Jesus is still God and His love and mercies endure forever.

And I hear this calling, still you don't seem so far at all, and i hear this calling out
Current mood: irritated
I believe there is so much lost to men with our new advancements in technology and rise of feminism especially in the church. when God designed men it was done in three tiers: men as warriors, men as sages, men as cultivators.
for some men they feel abandoned to their own masculinity and thus have to watch movies such as "fight club" in order to realize their own problems. However what happens to the christian is we have Jesus. He is the perfect cultivator, perfect sage, and perfect warrior for how men are to be.
but instead of having a church of backbone many have traded in their spines for political correctness so to cater to ever present trend of equality of thoughts and ideas.
now before i go on i believe that men and women are equal in value but not in role. the role of the man is not the same as a woman, therefore whence a man tries to do her role it does not equate and not designed to fit his soul. same goes for a woman who is forced or tries to take on the role of a man, she ends up playing two parts and usually finds no peace of mind for her soul, not her social life, is bearing the brunt of this decision.
there is no greater value for the different players on a baseball field, yet they all have different roles. what would happen if the pitcher demanded he now play catcher and the catcher now is forced to pitch?
the chruch has slowly weened the ferocity of the true Christian Warrior away from men. men are told to sit back and not be aggressive even in matters of the Kingdom (aggression doesn't mean rage or physical injury, but both of those can be a by product of aggression that is forced to be released for other reasons).
What hath we done to trade in our swords and armor for cell phones and pressed suits of vainity? are we not first Children of God who are ambassodors of the coming age? Since when did Jesus call us away from true Masculinity and Femminity? why have we set our passions, desires, and vision for so much less then what He offers us? Men and women are designed to be different and thus within differnce becomes functionality. We see this even throughout the Bible from the begining of time there has been a divison of role in the Trinity yet they are all God. As seen in Gen. 1:26-27. At some point in time both sides must realize that we are offered through Jesus a life of greatness, though in our misgivings, we settle for mediocrity and thus our chruches are filled with division, sexism, racism, classisms, and what not.
far be it from us to blame God for how far men and women have fallen from the intended design....for only our hands have our own blood upon them.......
Now i'm not against the concept of men and women i our time, but what i am against is the notion that the church needs to be overly femminized for example: • We've overused the "bride of Christ" metaphor • Singing, leading and programming is largely feminine • Generally speaking men (masculine men) avoid church because it does not match their masculinity • Church is largely women, children & "soft men" and "sinful men" (sexual predators) • Masculine men devote themselves to business, sports, entertainment as alternatives to religion • Women's and children's ministries far outnumber men's (thanx to Bob Covolo for this list)
Now this is not to say that every man in the church is a spinless softy, no, but when you look at the majority of people in the church there's a large amount of soft spinless men who in no way picture the warrior, cultivator, and sage roles. Is this there a place for diplomacy in the church, of course, the church would not be complete if just a hall of brutes; however it's not complete without them.
men need be men. there's a stigma that men can only be emotional if angry. sadley it seems as if that emotion is the only "safe" outlet for men (thanx Olga). however i'd be willing to say that all three tiers of men feel and should express other emotions. a passionate man is always intense, and yet many men in the church these days are told that intensity is somehow bad and unwelcome in the church. as if such mindset might in fact cause other men to see the said fenministic wool that has been placed over the eyes of the once destined warrior.
this being said, both men and women need to know the design that God placed them in and not overrun one or another. men be men. women be women. stand tall the two of you, for you are both equally valued and loved by Jesus, our King and Lord.

So they will open up their mouths, but really who are they
Current mood: drained
Pt. 2
Here we stand at the abyss of greatness only to settle for the mediocre path that is taken for so many. this the feeling of many hearts in our world. why is that? if you tell a man it's ok to mediocre more often than not he will not dissappoint. why such a lavish scheme and yet time after time do we not find ourselves settling instead of moving toward greatness?
is it the fact that greatness isn't cheap, nor is it pain free. by no means, greatness requires us to sacrifice so that we may then grow and become victorious. i guess the next question is, to whom or what are your sacrifices aimed? the athlete will sacrifice time and effort to push forward, the academic will sacrifice hours with others in order to study unto learning, and so on with many more examples could i give. yet i believe that the point is made, greatness demands sacrifice.
we have the oppurtunity to be apart of the Revolution happening across the bands of time and space. to be seen as family with the Creator of all such things. While we were yet His enemies He saw fit to prepare a path for us to become great, and something even more stirring: His children. Heirs to throne, a Kingdom we would be made for.
Such a revolution of ideas and passion is not something taken very easily in this, our present day. but i ask you to stop for a moment and ask this question "what if Jesus is correct?" The only way to find out is to know come and investigate Him. Not some silly chant or funky bookclub, just you getting to know Jesus, the King the savior of this, a mediocre life.
Now money is good, things are good, hell sex and relationships are seen as almost Heaven itself these days. But what we see as the goal and the complete picture, Jesus comes and says I offer you a lifetime of paradise and you, in your blindness, take the day in the gutter. Money, stuff, sex and so on are not bad in and of themselves, but when used to replace, ignore, or demean Jesus they become secondary to the bigger problem, our self-induced love of ourselve.
as C.S. Lewis said, "Our passions are not too strong, they are too weak. We are far too easily pleased." is this so? do we settle for the mediocre? as a whole, our culture, we settle for opinions over truth, contracts over commitments, instant gratification over timely affection, the marketing over the actual product, pornographic self-delusions over real love, and so on.
this is not a stab at any one person or peoples, this is what i see whence i look across the ocean of american dreaming.
Could it be that we are designed for greatness? Look at your world, have you settled for the less-than-great? Life is not made up and designed by the way we feel. while our feelings matter, they in fact do not change the truth of the this universe. do we settle for our emotional comfort only to drape the mantle of truth over it and decieve ourselves again?
Does the mediocre compel us to stay stagnant, keep us fixated on the mini-verse we have been keeping ourselves busy when in fact the universe is waiting just outside the door? why is Jesus tossed aside only to be relaced by pop psychology and Oprah's Bookclub? maybe it is because pop pscyhology doesn't demand our lives and souls or that Oprah doesn't tell anyone they are wrong (in general, i'm sure she's corrected people) for having incomplete and broken ideas. Jesus stands at the abyss and beckons to us to follow. He will guide us, He will complete us, He will stand for us at the final day.
A life so mediorce that we are roped into being the center is one that will never find focus. I ask you now, who do you know, are you living or existing, does the mediocre life or a life of greatness drape across your shoulders?
Let it not be said that life wasn't offered. For through the graces and love of Jesus is a life of meaning and value offered to all who come to Him.
greatness always requires sacrifice.

vanity of vanities this life, love, art & sex each breath you breathe is gasping in the wind
Current mood: mellow
pt 1
is it just me or does life have fetish for throwing the curve and breaking pitches even if we are crowding the plate trying to demand a fastball?
let it not be said that life was easy, for an easy life means no tension upon ourselves or the beliefs that provide us categories in our deciefering of experience. i believe that beliefs and character are like muscles, they only grow when placed under tension and stress.
for example when one looses a loved one, a relationship falls about, or an event happens that holds us softly in the arms of shock. all these have the ability to make or break us. make us either stronger or break our beliefs upon the rocks of conscience and personal autonomy, funny when where we ever promised control outside of our reactions?
what i want to delve into is the act of making us stronger. this requires a set of beliefs, or categories if you would, that do not place us at the center of the suns rotation or the proverbial center piece of the created order. once we can accept that this universe was created by He who is the great I Am the sooner we realize that while we are a big part of the strory, we are never the Author, just the character.
I've had loss in my life that has messed me up. a girlfriend in college broke my heart pretty bad, real bad, painfully bad. but i had a choice i could run away from my beliefs and carve new stories of the dry cracked cave walls of my heart, or i could come face to face with Jesus and see what He needed out of me. Did that mean the hurt and pain was instantly gone, not in my case. in fact the time that it took for me to see and learn from His lessons took me quite a while (we are always learning from God, i'm simply stating the time these lessons took), 3-4 years in fact. Now the growth first started to take when i realized that life was never mine to start. that took some time to understand; you see most of my life i was under the impression that i prayed to God to keep me in good care and that since i was in relationship with God that nothing "hard" would strike at me. Yes i was misguided and in fact my category for God's provision was horridly skewed toward basically a picture of me. i look back on that time and realize that i was one of the problems in that situation. one must look past our own selves to what God is doing. it's not that God doesn't want what's best for us, it's that many times our vision of the best is not really all that good to begin with. for example if myself and this college girlfriend had stayed together we would've gotten married, that's a fact, and if that had been the case i wouldn't have had the same ministry oppurtunities and same friends i've made over the years. my life would be without the intense growth i've now been through. while i was going through all that i was raked over coals emotionally and spiritually, and deep now i wanted none of it, but now i look back realize that for me to be the person i am today, i had to go through that.
God's promise to provide for us is not a promise to give us the "happy problem free life as shown on Hallmark cards" oh no, what He promises is that He will provide a life for us that draws us closer into His loving arms so that we can have a more abundant life then we could ever hope or imagine.
life in the service of the King is more of an adventure than just an existence.
yes to exist is good, but to live well in the arms of God Himself, why that is life changing.......

When the fixation is over and you're finally laid to rest, How will you be remembered?
Current mood: drained
ahh the myth, well according to C.S. Lewis a myth is simply a story that describes mankind and his place in the universe - - Myth, or mythos, is defined as a sacred story containing theories of origin and purpose, one that defines a people. Thousands of myths have come and gone in the ages of tale and story. many of these myths have, like dust, settled back into the earth, and yet some have lingered. the question that needs investigation still stands: Is there a true myth?
there are many false myths. pictures of humanity's condition with the universe that do not line up with the design of the universe, design of man, and so on. because of this it's essential to investigate the myths and beliefs of the world in order to see which one stands above them all as providing a real understanding to the predicament of humanity in the ever present universe. the problem of pain, the need to give worship, to want and desire love more than what is found in sexual activity, the problem of goodness, and so on.
while many myths and beliefs are told in a way to describe the world around us, we as humans demand more, so much more that we begin to "self-medicate" ourselves to beliefs we come up with in order to feel better about ourselves and our condition.
funny don't you think that we, the broken machine, decide to medicate ourselves as if we could, on our own, fix what has always been wrong with our programming. there has to be a program out there, just one more hit, another orgasam, just keep looking inward, there's to much to fix, and of course i'm my own god. all these (there are many many more) are excuses for faulty medication in the attempt to fix the machine. false myths that speak of truth as if it were created and molded by us, the very harbingers of the mistake we are trying alleviate.
we see everyday false myths and the consequences thereof. are we to forget what we see? are we to walk on and just say "well it's good for, and what i have is good for me" i'd hope not. no one in their right mind would want someone else to walk by as they we're being mugged, hurt, trapped, and or some other physical instance where life could be impaired. so why is it that when spiritual life is impaired people get so defensive? it's because the beauty of the false myths trickle down the lips of hell like fresh lipstick after a deep kiss. people are so comsumed with have a good fix to their problem they don't take time to see if they really are well, and free of the problems and the pain and seperation that sin and distance from God brings.
Jesus came not make us all lifeless robots who are sheep without thoughts and passion, no. He came to welcome us into His Kingdom and becomes heirs to blessings of God Himself. In short He came to complete the picture of what a live well lived is.
There is one true myth. It's the story of Jesus. For this story not only explains what we see but also what we do not. It states the problem, sin and death, is bigger than us, and therefore so must the solution also be bigger than us. He is that solution. He is the King who has brought death and hell to their kness as set the captives free. His grace knows a boundless embrace as He has changed millions and will continue to do so. Let no one say they have not heard, for just listen, can you hear Him? Jesus is calling you to grace. He words ring out to some as a shot gun, to others a small whispering wind, but He is calling out for you. "Come to me and made whole, complete and reborn from death and sin."
So you see, there is One True Myth.

We walk through each day with no mind to deprivation and moral decay.
Current mood: hot
this is a short blog. just a quick comment and idea about the God-Man Jesus Christ.
Jesus was a friend of sinners.
He cared for them, broke bread with them, ate with them, spoke to them, and even now is reaching out His hand to bring restoration to them.
Are you a friend of sinners?
As a Christian do you avoid intereaction with the non-believer? Do you judge other Christians who try to show love and care towards those who do not know Jesus as Saviour and Lord?
What kind of message does that send to the world at large? Yes i agree that we need to make stands for what is Good, True, Beautiful, and Pure; but we are called by Jesus to love others.
Jesus was a friends to sinners, and He still is.
are you Christain, a friend to sinners.

This is daily crucifixtion and these rusty nails leave scars.
Current mood: hungry
pt. II
this celebration of Christ's birth marks the beginning of the Revolution for the Christian......dare not forget that while some wage war with hate and vileness Christ wages war with Love and Justice, we would be wise to not forget that. So marks our Revolution, let the fires well up in the hearts of those who are redeemed. no more sitting by and waiting, no more excuses and putting Him, the Revolution awaits you. King Herod realized how dangerous Jesus was, do we?
Or are we content to sit back and let a commercialized, weak, jesus be our guide to personal happiness and fortune? i dare you to wake up and see the Revolution at hand. not one of sheer force and domination, but one of freedom from death and sin. a Revolution that stands up the broken, restores the needy and allows the guilty to be shown Grace. this type of Revolution starts with Sacrifice. the Submission of the Son to the Father's will, our submission to the Son and then our decision to overthrow the surrounding culture with Love and Grace much like that which was shown to us.
This Christmas remember that no Revolution of God's can be thwarted, either you are apart or you are against. there are many who want to "wait it out" or "get serious later" but have you not realized this is war, and war costs lives, maybe yours if you cannot see what is happening.
God is returning. He will crush the armies of the world and the valley of Armageddon will run knee high to a horse in blood. His children will be spared. His justice will ring out in the Heavens for those who rejected Him will be shown what they so deserved. No one can stop this Revolution. we only can step up to our place in it, or hang our heads and turn away.
"if i could, i would have died a thousand deaths to spend just one life with you, did this ever cross your mind? for not even the darkest caverns of abyss could have brought suffering that surpasses your absence. on such this weary day, when gray clouds pour out their malice, and the very earth opens to spill it's hate i remember the great war, the way the faces of angels lay dead, the sorrow for mankind overflowed and there i stood, watching you for the first and last time. that was aeons ago, so now with the fight still going there is something you must know, i have taken thousands of lives, and with every one i thought of you. such a past would most seemingly present a more ardent future, but that is in the hands of men now. now and almost certainly in centuries to follow we shall see the scars appear on the face of humanity. "
Our Savior is born. The war drums beat in the distance.

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers, 100 million angels singing
Current mood: frustrated
Christmas is an unsettling time. sales are everywhere. people shove old ladies and children out of lines to get closer to buying a gift. dogs bark to one another as cooler air chills their breath and they want to snuggle inside near a fire. so what has Christmas become to us as a nation? well to start many have started saying "happy holidays" so not to bother those of other religious belief. and yeah i think thats pretty lame, i mean it seems that the only belief that people don't mind doggin' on is the Christian faith. odd don't you think, it's not like there's a bunch of highly public court cases about how a Christian is having his/her rights upheld against some public company who refuses to say "Merry Christmas" and by doing so offending the Christian. However if someone of another faith was to say that the same company was saying "Merry Christmas" and it offended them it would be all over the news and the company would be marked as intolerant. tolerance is not a Christan virtue nor is it (as it is used in OUR DAY AND AGE ) one that actually is tolerant. what i mean by that is simple: all tolerance is in our day and age is simply the idea that no one can be wrong or make moral judgments on anyone else's actions or concepts unless they cause "harm" to someone else. Oh and if you're a Christian and claim that someone is being intorlerant to you and your beliefs, you get a slap in the face and are told that "Christianity" has already saturated our culture so there is no reason to think our nation is intolerant to Christians.
What does this have to do with Christmas: well everthing. Christmas marks to beginning of the Revolution. That being the time when God Himself breaks into human history in order to redeem it. This is marked by His followers owning up standing for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through demonstrating the Love of Jesus and Grace of Christ to those we meet and interact with. Such is the Revolution. Mark my words, this a war, a conflict most tidious and life changing. No more does the Christian or should the Christian be concered with the little non-sequitors that in the past has hinded him or her; instead a forward movement of recognizing the Kingdom of God is available to ALL PEOPLE regardless of where they are in life or what they've done. This Revolution was started using two non-descript people. a young virgin girl named Mary and her young husband, the wood worker Joseph. This is a movement of love and grace, two components that for a long time have been missing in Christian circles towards the world around us. For example, when I was in college ( i went to Biola University ) myself and a friend of mine would go out to main street in Hunnington Beach CA and strike up conversations about God, philosophy, world religions, and etc with just about anyone: strippers, druggies, satanists/occult members, gang bangers, pornstars, atheists, party folks, hookers, surfers, etc. why, simple, EVERYONE should have the option to hear about the work of Jesus and the Grace He offers. sadly we'd get a lot of flak by other Christians because of who we talked with, i hated that. when God decided to break into human history in order to provide reconciliation through the death and resurrection of Jesus He wasn't limiting His grace to only those that conservative right wing republican housewife Christians find safe - - HELL NO, His grace was offered to people like Saul/Paul who started as a killer of Christians. God's grace is for all.
So now we should see Christmas in a new light. that being the flame of Revolution that will purge this world of Hate and Pain. So stand ready, draw your swords and in with the hearts of Lions and love of Lambs take back what was ALREADY God's!!!
Christian stand firm and rejoice this Christmas for the war still wages.
For the non-believer, remember that Christ's birth marks a new beginning human history, a time when God decided you were worth saving. no sin is so damaging that God's grace cannot make you pure and lovable in His eyes.

through adversity there is redemption
Current mood: peaceful
has time ever kissed your lips and stood still for the duration? life seems like that to me at this juncture. nothing feels out of place, and i'm still heroically imperfect and needed much work to get me through each day. and yet i feel content half the time and darkly brooding the other half. why, no clue. it's just been there for about 6 or so years.
what kind of person does your life allow you to be? or maybe the better question is what kind of life does God want your person to live? have we forgot that in all thing He is active in both allowing and asserting actions and reactions.
i know that last few months i've been both active and distant with God. that hurts me greatly. my life is changing, my friends are slowly falling about me in what were shared pages of the story, are now but moments or paragraphs that i now appear.
life has been good in many ways of late. it also has been hard. i'm no longer teaching, the school and myself have to many differences in our teaching philosophies - - there are no hard feelings about the split decision.
oh well no matter what we can hold fast and know that Jesus never leaves those His calls sons and daughters.....
When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea-billows roll, Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to know; "It is well, it is well with my soul."
Tho' Satan should buffet, tho' trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed his own blood for my soul.
My sin - oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin - not in part but the whole, Is nailed to His cross and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh, my soul.
And, Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll, The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend- "Even so - it is well with my soul."
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live, If Jordan above me shall roll, No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life Thou shalt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
It is well with my soul, It is well, it is well with my soul. - - Horatio Spafford
