THE PIETASTERS-ALL DAY (RRHITCD3) - in shops-June 2008 - available now from www.myspace.com/rockersrevolt

The Pietasters first break came early for Washington D.C.’s ska darlings in 1997, when Rancid’s Tim Armstrong signed them to Hellcat/Epitaph where they recorded two albums with producer Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion): the genre-defining ’Willis’ (SPIN Magazine called it "An equal opportunity dancehall crasher — part ’60s keg rock, part 2 Tone and part Motown") and ’Awesome Mix Tape 6’ (CMJ noted it for "lacing a Stax shout-out feel with Caribbean rhythms"). The soul-charged ’Turbo’ was released in 2002 by Fueled by Ramen. The Pietasters shared bills with NOFX and Less Than Jake on the epic ’98 and ’99 Warped Tours, Joe Strummer 3 and worked as James Brown’s back-up band for one surreal and historic evening.
With over 200,000 past sales under The ’Tasters belts, Rockers Revolt now proudly presents their first new album in five years, The Pietasters- All Day, which captures superbly the high energy, brotherly camaraderie and attention to detail on which they’ve built their rock-steady name as an explosive live attraction. Expect a soul & ska rollercoaster ride from the band that backed James Brown!

Pama Intl Love Filled Dub Band album, singles & tour

Good morning

Following on from the success of their Trojan Rcds album releases last year and getting back to their deep-rooted DIY philosophy Pama Intl have now launched their own Rockers Revolt label (immediately picked up for distribution by Universal).

Through their Rockers Revolt imprint Pama Intl have scheduled a series of Killer vinyl releases for Sept and Nov'07, as a prelude to their eagerly awaited long player 'Pama Intl Love Filled Dub Band' (RRCD-002) due in Feb'07. The album is recorded and currently being mixed by John Collins (producer of The Specials finest hour 'Ghost Town').

The Nov/Dec tour will have a full national advertising campaign and press officer working both tour, singles and album, so all shows involved will be high profile in the national press. Dates already scheduled include;

PAMA INTERNATIONAL LOVE FILLED DUB BAND out December 2007
on tour - more dates tba

Nov'07;
10-Swansea Monkey Cafe
16-Swindon 12 Bar club
24-London Jazz Cafe
29-Oxford Zodiac

Dec'07;
06-London Gazs Rockin Blues
13-Bristol Clockwork

With show stopping performances at Glastonbury (on both Leftfield and Dance stages), Bestival, London's Jazz Cafe and sell-out club shows up and down the country this year has already proved to be a phenomenal one for Pama Intl. The rest of the year looks set to exceed all expectations.

The Slacker UK tour and new album-Dec’07

Rockers Revolt presents

THE SLACKERS - BOSS HARMONY SESSIONS (RRCD-002)
out 3rd December 2007
Distributed by Aktive

For promo requests email RR@pamainternational.co.uk

Overview

Pama Intl are delighted to announce the first signing to their Rockers Revolt label..."America's premiere interpreters of Jamaican music" 'The Slackers'. RR will be releasing The Slacker's excellent new album "The Boss Harmony Sessions" in December 2007 to coincide with their European tour.

From their debut 1996 release, "Better Late Than Never", through to last year's, "Peculiar" (their sixth album for Tim Armstrongs' Hellcat/Epitaph Records), the NYC-based band, The Slackers have established themselves as America's premiere interpreters of Jamaican music. They complete the circle of that American RnB inspired hybrid known as "Ska" that became popular in 1960's Jamaica, bringing it back to the USA and reacquanting it with its Jazz, Blues, and Rock N' Roll cousins.

The Slackers sound is Jamaican rock'n'roll. While they have been influenced, and even personally taught by Jamaican ska/reggae originators, The Skatalites and The Upsetters, the band sees its music through an American lens. This band is equally appreciative of old blues, 60s soul, rock, and RnB as it is of reggae, rocksteady, dub and Ska.

Upon signing with Hellcat Records, in 1997, the band released their second album 'Red Light', which saw them evolving into a smoother, more melancholy and soulful unit. They have followed up Red light with 5 more releases on Hellcat. 1998's, 'The Question' album, was proclaimed to be "the new Exile on Main Street." 'Wasted Days' album from 2001 was praised by Maxim and the Village Voice and reached 8 on the Amazon.com sales charts. Their 'Close My Eyes' album from 2003 was praised by the Kerrang!, BBC, Pulse and the LA Weekly which said, "it captures their unfettered energy, unerring skankability, and playful anger to a tee!"

The Slackers also made several self-produced albums that have focused on different aspects of the band. The band paid tribute to their roots on their 'Slackers & Friends' album, which features the Slackers as a backing band for American and Jamaican recording artists such as Glen Adams (The Upsetters), Cornell Campbell (The Uniques), Congo Ashanti Roy (The Congos), Doreen Schaeffer (The Skatalites), and Ari-up (The Slits). Their 'International War Criminal' record was a political-themed ep that was put out to coincide with the 2004 presidential election, whilst their 'Afternoon in Dub' album is an all reggae album that sounds like the title. The Slackers/Pulley split is a punky reggae party with their friends from Deconstruction tour in 2004.

Since 1997, The Slackers have headlined 16 major US Tours and 11 European tours. They have appeared on the stages of the Warped Tour (1998), the Lowlands Festival (1999), Pukkelpop (1999, 2004), CMJ (2000), Montreal Jazz Festival (2000), the Bourges Festival (2001), the Dour Festival (2002, 2007), Deconstruction Tour (2004), Augustboller (2005), Streetbeat Festival (2005), Popkomm (2006), Summerjam (2007), Mighty Sounds (2007) and Ilosaarirock (2007) . They have shared stages with Rancid (1999, 2003, 2006), Hepcat (1999), Joe Strummer (2002, 2003), Floggin Molly (2002), Jimmy Cliff (2002), Pennywise (2004), Toots & the Maytals (2005), The Pogues (2006) and John Spencer's Heavy Traffic (2007). They have sold out numerous headlining gigs including such famous venues Lee's Palace (Toronto), CBGBs (NYC, 2 nights in a row in 2006), Troubadour (LA, 3 times in 2006), The Knitting Factory (NYC, 5 times in the last 4 years), the Melkweg (A-dam), SESC Pompeia (Sao Paolo, 2 nights in 2006) and the Loft (Tokyo).

The Slackers began 2007 by releasing Big Tunes!, a greatest hits compilation for the Japanese market, and this was followed by a tour of Japan and Korea. They followed this up with a tour of the Midwest & Canada which had them breaking many of their own attendance records and have just released a DVD Documentary in USA.

Now, Rockers Revolt are proud to announce the release of The Slackers most innovative album to date, the fantastic "Boss Harmony Sessions".

In their new release, they take their unified eclectism one step further. They revisit a rock standard, 'Mama Told Me Not Come', and infuse it with Trojan era reggae, psychedelic organs, and a Coltraneish sax solo. 'Wanted Man' by Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash becomes an outlaw reggae ballad. 'Minha Menina' by Jorge Ben (Os Mutantes) is in Portugese, very psychedelic yet very reggae, complete with sitar solo! The originals, 'Robots' and 'Body Double', refer thematically to our dystopian present. One instrumental, 'Funk Week' makes a nod to Afro-Beat while the other 'Ska Boheme' makes a nod to opera. 'Yer Still Blue' is pure New Orleans while 'Lil Joe', 'Feed My Girl', and 'Mind Your Own Business' feature old school Jamaican sounds.

For this new release, The Slackers turned to LA based DJ, Boss Harmony, to filter through their music. He selected the 12 album cuts from the 30 songs that the Slackers have recently recorded. He added some ambient sounds, transitional dialogue, lined up the tracks, and tweaked the overall sound. The effect is that this disc has the warm intimacy of a good friends mix cd of some of his favorite music.

To promote the album The Slackers will be on tour in December 2007 through the UK, Holland and Belgium.

This five-piece group of L.A. musicians mix old school reggae with rock, soul and funk, heavily influenced by The Meters, James Brown and Wilson Pickett. Nearly eight months straight on the road, criss-crossing the U.S. and jetting back and forth to Europe, The Aggrolites are one of the world 's hardest working bands and with serious talent to boot. They are one mean unit, a machine. If you've ever seen one of their shows then you know they have the chops, chemistry, talent and that something special the Almighty gave them at birth to take this Aggrolites "machine" to the highest mountain. They have shared the stage with Prince Buster, Derrick Morgan, The Skatalites, Madness (on their Dec'06 UK arena tour), Rancid, Hepcat and countless other greats. They have also recorded two BBC Radio One Sessions. They have recently backed Rancid's frontman Tim Armstrong on his the recording of his solo album "A Poet's Life", creating a masterpiece of soulful reggae cuts for Tim's unique vocal and guitar exploits. Their hugely awaited third album "Reggae Hit L.A." (Hellcat/Epitaph) is out now!
