Film Update .2
Current mood: energetic

Right, so where was I?  Oh yea, ok so the search for Dante is continuing unfruitfully at the moment (is that a real word? Ah well, I like it!).  The good news is that the Amulets and an actual 'Tear of Sparda' should be just around the corner.  I'm as excited as anyone else about this because it means as soon as we have the right props we can begin to plan shooting the first few scenes.  (Even without a full cast). It also means we'll have production photo's to use for promo and website stuff.

I've been promised that there will be a preliminary website by tomorrow.  Whether this means we'll have it up and running by tomorrow is a different story.  I've also asked a friend to draw a few Manga-esque cells of back story so you know the events leading up to the begining of the film and how it ties in with the games.

Right, thats ur lot for the moment.  Catch you all soon.

Film Update
Current mood: hot

Ok, so its been quite a while since I last posted on here but I've been busy!  I've been for a fitting of the Vergil costume and everything is coming along nicely with that as its very nearly finished.  I've added pics of both Yamato and Rebellion to my profile so the props side of things are going well too.  Still searching for a 'Dante' for the film, but they've really gotta be something special.

I'll prob post another entry on here a little later today so check back later.

Cheers

Colds suck!
Current mood: tired

Hey peeps.

It would appear I'm developing a cold! Bugger!  Nothing much to report at the moment.  It was my good friend Iains birthday on friday and I got absolutely trashed which was cool.  Had a great time so Happy Birthday Iain.

Still havent quite got around to getting my car fixed since that nob end hit it, but I'll do it sometime this week.

Went out celebrating last night because my sister got offered her first teaching job in our old school!  I'm so proud of her!  Least one of us is going to amount to something. hehe

As for all things film wise.  Its the end of my financial month so havent really been able to afford to do anything else much on it.  Although saying that I have now bought and delivered the material to make Vergil's (my) coat so all I need to do is sort out the waistcoat, a pair of trousers and some boots.  Shouldn't prove too hard.  Also I cant take any character photo's until after June 16th as I've promised my sister I'll take one of her friends to their graduation ball and cant change my hair until after that.

Right, thats about all for now.  I'm having a meeting with Ian (yes there's two! Note the spelling!) my mate who is going to be doing all the marketing for the film.  He's also helping me with the website so we'll hopefully have that up and running very soon.  (I know I keep promising this, but its hard finding the time to do all this! lol)

Take care all of ya.

Website News!
Current mood: excited

Well, last night I had a semi-meeting with one of my mates who is now on-board the project.  His marketing company 'Black Bear' is going to be doing poster design, as well as website hosting and production photos.  So a big thank you to Ian for donating his services free of charge.

The website has been registered and there is currently an 'Under Construction' sign on it.  I'm hoping that in the next week or so we will have some material like Production diaries, Production photos, Character Profiles, Actor Profiles, etc etc.  So when that goes up I will probably be less frequent with the blog updates on here.

The address is www.thetearsofsparda.co.uk I will post a bulletin when the site goes live.

Take care guys

Trailer fun and Costume update
Current mood: determined

Hi guys,

Ok, few updates again.  Firsty, I have been having fun with a VERY early teaser trailer for the film which is now posted on youtube and a copy of which is on my profile under the great file of a very camp Jesus hehe.

Let me know what you think.  Its not meant to really give you any idea of what to expect in the film, but it does have Vergil speaking in it (Yes thats me).

The costume news is I have finally found someone to make Vergil's coat for me. This is a tremendous step because as soon as I have Vergil's costume sorted we can start filming some of his scenes with the 'undisclosed baddie' and start uploading a few taster clips to the net.

I'm also currently working with my 'Tech Support' blokey Brad on getting a website up and running in the very near future.  As soon as we've sorted out a hosting site then we should be well on our way.

Some of the people on IGN have been, well, less than supportive of the project, but as long as there's at least a handful of people who are going to enjoy this and look past the fact we dont have a hollywood budget,  I have no worries at all.

Apologies!
Current mood: hyper

Hi peeps, I know a lot of you have subscribed to my blog now so I'm really sorry I haven't posted anything in a while.  I've been trying to sort out my car which was crumpled slightly by some asshole! Needless to say I'm ok and wasnt injured, but my car looks a little worse for the experience.

Anyway, onto sunnier subjects!  The script is 100% finished!  A whole 19 pages of DMC storyline are done and I've got to say I'm quite proud of it. Oh, and I know 19 pages doesnt sound like much but that will probably equate to about 30-40 mins of on screen time (including fight sequences etc).

We nearly have a full cast now so as soon as thats done we'll have a read through and see about making each person sound more like their character etc.  Also within the next week or so, I will be having a face cast taken by Paula so she can start working on the prosthetics for 'Devil Trigger' mode, which should be good fun!  I'll post some pictures of that as soon as I have some.  Altho you might have to wait a while to see the finished result ;o).

I also received Vergil's sword yesterday so I'm going to start practicing some signature moves as soon as possible, so that by the time we begin filming, it looks as close to the game as possible.

Right, thats all for the moment, except to say thank you for all your support on the film via messages etc.  I really appreciate them.  My biggerst fear about the whole project isnt locations, or costumes etc, its letting you guys (the fans) down.  I sincerely hope we will make you guys proud and give you a damn good film...completely free too! hehe

Take Care

James.

Bank Holidays are GREAT!
Current mood: creative

Thank you who ever invented Bank Holidays!!!  Well, now that we have Monday off work as well as Saturday and Sunday. This means I get a whole extra day to work on the film, which is good in a way, but I do sometimes wish I could go out and get smashed too! lol

Anyway, all things film are still going fairly well.  I've nearly finished the first draft of the script and i'm starting to take a few photo's of possible locations for the scenes to take place.  You already know about the ruined church but there's a couple more places I'm considering. More news on that as it happens!

I'd like to say hi to all the DMC fans that have subscribed to my blog and shown their support for the film.  Cheers fellas, after all, its all about the fans.

We have a production meeting on Sunday where we'll be looking at some of the weaponry, reading through the first draft of the script and making any alterations / re-writes etc, and seeing Paula's prototype for the 'Tears'.  Should be exciting and I'll try and make sure we take a few pics too.

Right, I've bored you long enough again. As usual, any questions etc feel free to message me.  I'll try and reply to each one personally

Film update! (Ps. my life is fine!)
Current mood: crazy

Ok, so its been a while since my last post! (Yes, I know this sounds like confession!). All things 'film' are leaping and bounding forwards which is great!  Still no camera as of yet, but e-bay seems to be supplying a few choice ideas on that front, so I'm hoping it wont be long.  The costume debate is still in full flow as to whether I pay nearly 100 each for Dante and Vergil's costumes or try and get them made cheaper than that!  So any ideas are always welcome!!!

Paula has become a shining beacon of light! (Figuratively....not literally!) She has already began producing props etc! We have our first picture of what will eventually become one of the 'Tears of Sparda' artefacts which I've loaded into my pics on here.  (No I'm not going to reveal anymore of the plot).

Iain has been equally as inspirational, he will be taking one of the lead roles but his character is currently under wraps at the moment! (oooh the secrecy!) His devotion to his own fan-fiction story has been great in helping me stay focused on my project. Preventing the frequent shouting of 'Bugger this!!!'

As soon as some of the costumes are sorted, i'm hoping to have some production photo's and character bio's done.  Once thats complete I will have to seriously consider starting up a website, so stay posted.

I'm toying with the idea of whiting my hair out completely for the film, however it would be a permanent thing until it grew out, so I'm not 100% yet! Answers on a postcard pls!

One last thing and I'll let you all get back to your lives.  I'll update this blog a lot more if I know people are reading it, so please either subscribe or drop me a message saying ur reading, hell even some comments would be nice! Some encouragement for the film etc :o)

25 now, and still working on the film!!!
Current mood: productive

Hi peeps!

Right well few new things to report, mostly to do with the film though.  I've officially got 2 cast members sorted now and makeup/props has been kindly taken on by my wonderful friend Paula!  Next step it to work out if I should save some cash up and get a decent camera or try and make a camcorder look a little more professional, this being the problem with 'no budget' productions.

Have come up with a name for the production company - Asylum Productions.

I'm going to start work on a website at some point soon, but if I really cant get the time, I might set it up as a 'Film' profile on MySpace.  Should have one or two character pics of the new character 'Arthemis' soon so I'll post them once theyre finished.

Costume wise I'm hitting on a small snag.  I can either try and get it made, or there is a company in Japan that makes them...however they would work out at just under 100 quid and that doesnt include shipping.  So and budding costume makers out there wanna give me a quote for making them over here, I'd be very interested in hearing from you.

As far as my life is concerned at the mo, its mostly being taken up with writing the script for and sorting out the film. Not had too much time to be sociable. Saying that I did have a good night out on Sunday, and a great time with my mate Iain on Northampton on Friday last.

Well, I've bored ya enough today. I'll write another update soon.

Getting slightly old!
Current mood: energetic

Hello people!

Well today is my 25th Birthday! Starting to feel old, but I'm kinda also wanting to get out there and do some more active things with my life! Obviously I've got the film to worry about but things are steadily moving in the right direction with it.  I've ordered the replica sword from the states so I'm just waiting for that to arrive now.  I've also managed to find somewhere that sells the main characters outfit which is great....only draw back is that its a little on the expensive side and currently residing in Japan! Hmmm.  Other than that things are going swimmingly.

I've got the week off purely because its my birthday and my sister is down from Uni for Easter so I'm trying to figure out what to do with all this spare time! I'm sure I'll think of something (altho I really should use it to work on the film a little more!).  Well I might go on a prop/costume hunt just for fun but the weather is a little less than inspiring!

Ah well, I've babbled on long enough again.  Speak to you all soon.

J. xx
