Big Changes at Work
Current mood: happy
Today it was confirmed that Todd Gallati will be the new CEO of Trident Medical Center (the hospital where I work). This is so wild and wonderful... I'll explain...
I worked at Gulf Coast Medical Center for 13 years, with the last 6 or so years under the supervision of Todd, with Mark joining as COO about 4 years ago. For a while I reported directly to Todd, but when Mark arrived I reported directly to him. Having worked for several other hospital administrators, I knew that these 2 had the real stuff. They were the dynamic duo, the team that motivated, inspired and led the medical staff and employees to strive to always do their best. It was a team that I was proud to be a part of, and I felt we made a difference most days... but you know how it can be at times, challenging and a real struggle. But they were the kind of leaders that you know will get you through anything.
Then a little more than a year ago, I made a leap to another job. It was similar, still working with doctors, but outside the hospital, still in Panama City. I hated leaving the hospital, and especially not working for Todd and Mark, but I felt it was the right thing for me to do at that time. Actually, I began to feel that it wasn't where I needed to be, but I didn't know where that place would be. In July Mark called to tell me about a job at the hospital where he was working and thought I should apply for it. He had left last November to come to this hospital in Charleston. To start with I didn't think I was interested, but I'm glad I came. After I accepted this job I learned that the CEO in Charleston was leaving, so I wished Todd would consider coming here, too. I figured that was a long shot for him to leave, but today we learned that he has been selected as the new CEO of Trident here in Charleston. What are the odds of 2 top administrators (and me) all leaving the same hospital in Florida and moving to Charleston, SC within a year? Maybe it's a train and some others will follow. I would never have believed this would or could happen, but it has.
The fun and surprises didn't end there... my boss then called me in late today to tell me some other news that makes this story even crazier (and great). I can not yet say what that is, but I'll simply say this. There is no doubt in my mind now that I absolutely made the right move for me. And the changes are not over yet! If you want to know more, just check back periodically to read my blogs. Or, if you don't work in this system, it won't mean as much to you. Just know that Janice is a happy girl and feelin' fine.
Charleston has turned out to be a really great place, lots of nice people, and it has more activities to do than I have time for. But I still try to get as many in my weekend as I can fit in. My only complaint is the traffic. I was spoiled to be a mile from work. I get frustrated driving 6 miles to work, but that's still better than it is for many people.
Here's my request... If you are my family or friend and you think you might want to be here too, come on down/up and check it out. There's room for more and it's going to be a fun ride.
P.S. - I've already housed some out of town guests on weekends, so I'm getting the knack of it. I'm even surprising my own self and learning to cook some tasty dishes. I've exorcised away the ghosts and the house is clean, so make your reservations now at "Hotel Janice." Book early and save!

2003 Mitsubishi Spyder GS for Sale
Category: Automotive
SEE THE CAR & DESCRIPTION IN THE PICS ALBUM.
It was such a joy to drive my little Spyder, but while working at my last job, I realized I needed an SUV in order to haul things for the job. The Spyder was not suited to haul much more than a couple of people and a few other items at once.
So, I got another Mitsubishi, but this one was an SUV. I love both vehicles and wondered which one should come with me to SC. Since I'm still hauling stuff while getting situated up here, it became clear that I should sell the Spyder.
It provided lots of fun, especially riding fast with the top down and the music blaring, but sadly, the time has come for it to find a new home.
Look at the pictures and captions, which will tell you just about everything you'd like to know about it. The history of it is this: A college football coach from Mississippi bought in on a whim from the showroom floor. Apparently, his wife wasn't thrilled with his spontaneous purchase and he sold it to a young couple in Mississippi. After only about a year, the husband was deployed to the Middle East and wife was a dental student, so they had to downsize and get rid of one vehicle. That's how I acquired it. Last summer I has sold it to a friend for his daughter, but they stopped making payments on it and I got it back and made sure it is still fine - it is.
It's a great car and will be perfect for someone. I have a clear title that will be transferred at the time of purchase, so you don't have to wait for a bank to release the title. It was recently cleaned and the carpets were shampooed, and it has an almost full tank of gas.
The VIN is 4A3AE45G63E008269. It has almost 63,000 miles. I'm asking $9,500, which is under the Kelley Blue Book value (see photo 1 for the flier).
The car is in Panama City, FL, and my son, his roommates or my mom can show it to you and let you take it for a test drive. If interested, contact me or call one of these numbers:
me: 843-801-2929 (I'm in SC but can answer your questions) Mike: 850-258-2001 Mom or Warren: 850-785-5216
Thanks, Janice
