Grandma
Current mood: melancholy

Today is my Grandma's Birthday, she would have been 88 years old.  I really miss her, I miss watching her at her little vanity table putting on lotions and make up.  When I was a little girl I used to sit in her room and watch her pencil in her eyebrows and put on red lipstick.  Red was her signature color.

I miss her cooking chicken & beef teriyaki, rice, fried chicken, macaroni salad, green beans, creamed peas.   It's funny she herself would always eat diet food (cottage cheese, hamburger patty w/ no bun, I remember she really liked liver & onions) but she would always cook us comfort food.

Whenever she would get paid she would take me to the store so I could select an outfit for my Barbie doll.  She would also take me school clothes shopping.  Which was always a treat.

She always wanted me to be a Court Reporter for some reason.  I remember her saying that to me since the age of 5, "Why don't you be a Court Reporter?"

She was very loving and giving and I miss her!

Ass Crack
Current mood: working
Category: Fashion, Style, Shopping

So I was Christmas shopping last night and I was in the shoe department and I happend to turn around as this woman was bending over trying on a shoe.  She was wearing low rise jeans and she was kinda trying to squeeze her body into them anyway.  (She should NOT have been wearing those pants!!!)

Anyway, I did NOT need to see her ass crack!  We're not talking "plumber's ass" here, we are talking about a good 4 inches of her ass hanging out of those jeans!

I think I'm done Christmas shopping!  People are gross!!!

Baseball, Contest, TV
Current mood: hungry
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

I entered a contest that I heard about when I went to the STITCH n PITCH at Dodger Stadium back in May.  I'm still waiting to hear if I am one of the winners.  But in the meantime if you live in San Francisco you can watch Natalie from CRAFT magazine tomorrow (7/19) on "VIEW FROM THE BAY."

Natalie will be promoting CRAFT magazine and some of the entries from the contest.   My crocheted baseball card purse will be on TV.  I hope it enjoys it's 15 minutes of fame.  I'm very excited that something I made will be on TV.  The purse will also be attending a San Francisco GIANTS game.  Wish I could be there too!

Swapmeet, Fair and Demolition Derby
Current mood: tired
Category: Automotive

Yesterday was a very busy day for me.  I went to Long Beach to the Swapmeet that's held at the Long Beach Memorial Stadium across the street from the Long Beach airport.  My friend and I were there for 4 hours just looking at antiques and collectible stuff.  It's fun to people watch and look at really cool things.

Next we took a drive to Costa Mesa to go to the O.C. Fair for the 1st time.  The fair was fun!  We got a Molly Maple (aka Giant Texas Donut) and a sausage on a stick.  All the food & drinks were so expensive!  I wanted to get a taquito combo but it was $8.75!  The sodas were $2 or $3 each and water, oh man forget about buying water.  They wanted $4.75 for a 1.5 liter bottle.  For that price I can buy a whole case at the grocery store!

We didn't know the Demolition Derby was at the fair the weekend we went.  But it was FREE and we waited in line for 45 mins to get inside the stadium.  Man oh Man I'm hooked!  I want to find out how to become a Demolition Derby driver!!!  It was a thrill to see the cars crashing into each other on purpose.  2 of the cars caught on fire and the fire dept was on hand to extinguish the flames and pull the drivers out of the cars.  I didn't know this, but in Demolition Derby's the drivers have to drive in reverse and they aren't supposed to hit the front of each others cars.  So I better learn how to manuever in reverse!!!

Things I've been doing lately
Current mood: calm

Recently I went to the 7-11/ Kwik E Mart in Burbank.  As a promotion for "The Simpsons Movie" which opens on 7/27/07 this particular 7-11 on Olive in Burbank has been converted into a Kwik E Mart.  You can even purchase some items that The Simpson's have in their world.  You can buy a Radioactive Man comic book, Krusty O's cereal, Squishees, Buzz Cola, even the hot pink sprinkled donuts are for sale.  The night I went they had an actor playing APU.  The rest of the employees had name tags on that said, APU wannabe or APU in training.

On another evening I went to the historical ALEX theater in Glendale, CA to go see "Forbidden Planet" on the big screen.  Mainly I went to get my picture with Robby the Robot.  The movie is 1950's Sci-Fi.  It was fun seeing it with a large audience.  Warren Stevens made a guest appearance and talked about filming "Forbidden Planet."

I think I might go back to the ALEX to see another 50's Sci-Fi classic, "Creature from the Black Lagoon."  I've never seen it before, and from the reaction of the audience it looks like it might be fun!

Annabelle Gurwitch movie FIRED release
Current mood: chipper
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

So here's a re-cap for everyone that had to work and couldn't make it out to Westwood last night.  The people in attendance were Annabelle Gurwitch, Jeffrey Ross, Jeff Garlin, Jeff Kahn, Andy Dick and me.

There is a nice little stage in Border's and there were about 50 -60 people gathered around.  Sitting and standing.  So someone from Borders gets on a microphone and introduces Annabelle, but before we can go onstage a photographer from Getty wants to take out photos.  I got my photo taken with everyone and then I got some taken of just me.

The comedians told stories of when they were fired.  Annabelle showed the clip of me in the Tate Donovan segment.  Then there was a Q & A segment, then people could get their DVD's signed.  Someone asked me to sign their DVD because they thought I was Margaret Cho.  I had to tell them my real name.  I didn't get to sign any DVD's but I had 2 people ask me if I was Margaret Cho.

Then another photographer who arrived to the event late took our photos.  I can be seen on www.wireimage.com   Just click on the Annabelle Gurwitch event for June 7th and you can see a nice photo of Annabelle & I.

I had a good time!  Now I can go back to my "regular life."  It was fun being a celebrity for 15 minutes.

JPL Open House
Current mood: geeky
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

So I got up early on a Sunday to meet my friend Barbara & her granddaughter to attend the JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) Open House.  It's only open to the public once a year.   It's my dream one day to work there among the Rocket Scientists, Engineers, and other extremely intelligent geeky people.  I hope you all know I'm kidding!!!  It was an incredible experience to be able to visit.

We got to see a lot of the actual spacecrafts etc. that have actually been on some of the planets.  We went into a sterile lab environment where we were able to peek into the windows of the sterile labs, we got to see and hold a piece of meteorite, we got to see the Mars Space Rover & a demonstration of it climbing over rocks, we saw Voyager and a bunch of 3-D images from various space missions.

When you first walk in, you are handed a bag that contains a map of all the activities you can do, a NASA sticker and some 3-D glasses.  There are various booths set up all over and you can collect trading cards and other papers.  There are lots of food vendors set up and you can even eat in the cafeteria (which is where we decided to eat)  I had a portobello mushroom sandwich with red peppers.  That was the 1st time I had a portobello mushroom and it was delicious.

There was so much to do and the lines were so long we didn't get to finish everything.  I can't believe we were there from 9:00am til 3:00pm and still didn't finish all the exhibits.  I think I'll go back next year and stand in line for some of the really popular exhibits early in the morning.

Hollywood Christmas Parade
Current mood: bouncy
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Just got home from working the Hollywood Christmas Parade.  I seriously had my doubts about volunteering, but it was fun!

I got to see Regis Philbin, Michael Bolton, Nicolette Sheridan, the Dancing with the Stars people, Nigel & Miss J from "America's Next Top Model", the KTLA morning news people, Mayor Antonio Villaragosa, Janice Dickinson and many more.  It was fun seeing my friend Matt riding on the Janice Dickinson float.

After the parade was over we got to go to the Hollywood Roosevelt for the volunteer & participant buffet.  My friend Melanie ran into Nigel from "Americas Next Top Model."  He said, "Oh excuse me" to her.  I got my photo taken with Mayor Antonio Villaragosa & Johnny Grant.  The Mayor Antonio Villaragosa really knows how to smooze.  I said to him, "It's an honor meeting you." and he said, "The pleasure is all mine & he shook my hand in a really sexy manner."   We ate at a table with Hulk Hogan's son & his girlfriend.

All in all I'm glad I volunteered, it was a lot of fun I'm glad my friend Melanie asked me.
