Reminiscent ramblings

I salvaged my first drum set from a pile of garbage in a church parking lot when I was 13. It was a shoddy, old, mock-Pearl kit wrapped in orange with gold sparkles. It sounded horrible, but even a junkyard drum set is an awesome drum set when you're 13. I got my current kit a couple years later, but have continued holding on to that first hunk of junk. A few months ago, I bought a brand new Gretsch kit to use as a practice kit, but still couldn't bring myself to unload my first drum set, though it has just been gathering dust for nearly a decade. Well, this morning, while cleaning my apartment, I finally decided to part ways with my old, orange drum set. So, I dropped it off in the community laundry room free pile, hoping that it may serve some young drummer-to-be as well as it served me.

In other nostalgia:

The complete Traveling Wilburys collection was recently released, completely remastered, and I haven't listened to anything else since I got it. For those of you not in-the-know, the Wilburys are George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne. Yeah. Woah.
This stuff has been out of print since the mid-nineties. I still remember dancing around to the Wilbur Twist with my dad when I was seven. Ah, those were the days.

These are the days too.
