What a Weekend
What a weekend I had. It was cool, I got to hang out with my older sister a little bit which I don't do enough of, as we looked for a mother day's present for my mom. We ended up not getting anything at all. I also spent some of the day watchin my nephews track meet, which they did okay in, pulled a couple of 2nd places and a 4th and 6th place, at their little championship meet. I also got the word out to a ton a people about my shoe company, which is really doing good right now between ebay and the streets. So make sure you get at me if you need any Jordans, Bapes or Air Force 1. I was also pissed as hell because I had to drive a total of four hours sunday for my little sister to pick up my extra laptop for her to use on her trip to Louisana. Now how that happen I don't know, I must be the best brother in the world, so don't wonder why I'm moms favorite now! Also while out and about this weekend, I came across what I think is going to be my new phone, the T-Mobile MDA.
I plan on getting one on eBay since I would have to pay full retail of $599 for one, which ain't happenin at all. I been trying to wait on this sidekick III
to be released, but they B.S-ing on the release of the device so I'm gone keep it moving. And since the MDA runs windows mobile, I be able to connect to my shoe company email, my corporate job email, and my contacts on MSN and AIM fully. Yea I need that device, it would make my time much more efficient!

It Been Some Months, but I'm back
Man, it been a while since I posted a blog, so just a run down on what I've been working on lately and what going on. Well what was consuming most of my time fell through and did not work out at all. But I haven't gave up on the idea, and thanks to some good advice from a mentor of mines, hopefully in the near future it will all work out. I hate dentist. I had to get a root canal, and get my teeth worked on, which was one of my worst experiences at a dentist ever. It wasn't the dentist that was so bad that I seen, actually all dentist were great, it was the sorry ass people working behind the desk when you enter the office that sucked. I got insurance, yet this one office try to say they don't take it. Bullshit!! So after a few I had to cuss someone out phone calls and a few I gotta type this email and go the hell off were sent out, I got a call saying my insurance is accepted and they will fully refund me, which I am still waiting on so it seems I'm not done with them yet, just sorry service, sorry. It was just all bad, but I got it worked out, but what a bad experience. So my boy put me on to a business opportunity that at first I didn't see at all. I don't think he saw the potential in it either. But hopefully this venture works out better than the last one, but if not, I'm a just keep it pushin right on to the next thing. So I started volunteering at the Late-Night Program at the YMCA. I think it a great program and when I was younger, I use to love going to Late-Night. So I enjoy my time spent there with kids, showing them all kind of basketball stuff and making sure they on the right track. So if you haven't noticed on my page there are like 23 beats all made by me. It just a hobby I've picked up because I got the time and do it with minimal effort. I don't think they too bad, but it nothing serious for me, just fun. I'm still writing for Seaspot the magazine and Seaspot.com. I really need to pick up my game on that and start writing more. I've just completed one story about a local label Filthy Rich and one of their artist, Emmanuel. Check him out, my favorite song is Old School. So look for that story. I also just covered some performances and a freestyle battle that took place this past Wednesday. The show was hot, man gotta give it up for Mic Phenomenal, he was hot. Much props to Y.O. the Youngin, who I thought was good too, and in his final round, mos def stepped his game up and came with some hard one-liners and real spit. I just think what put Mic above him more than anything was his delivery and the way he was able to work the crowd. Big ups to both of them, so be on the lookout for my J-scluvise interview with the winner, Mic Phenomenal and my bi-weekly column called "The Show Report" where I will be going to local shows every other week and writing a review one them, all in Seaspot the magazine and Seaspot.com I think that about it, nope it not, but that enough for now.

I'm black
Category: Music
I told my boys when I got home , when they was banging this Style P song in the whip, "that's my theme song". It was the first time I heard it, and after his ponta Jadakiss just flipped "Why", it seemed the timing was perfect, and putting Floetry on the track, just made it hotter than what it already was (in my opinion).
But I didn't hear about the song at all, nor hear it at all other than on the NY mixtape circuit, which at least 3 or 4 DJ's had the track on their mixtapes, so I knew it just wasn't me who thought the song was hot. I was dissapointed by this, I thought the song deserved some air play or at least some recognition, finally a song that was different from the norm or hoes, clothes, 24 inch rims and gold grillz that floods our music. Not saying that, that music don't knock, or that I don't knock it, but we all know there is more to life than just that.
Our music should reflect us, in all aspects, from the grimey streets to the intellects, to our pride in being black, our culture and who we are, we should be proud. But we don't have enough music that reflects all those aspects. So when I heard this song, and what he was spitting, I just thought it would be a bigger song than what it turned out.
But now 8 months later the song is finally getting some pub, well it may been have gettin more pub in other parts of the country, but I found this article on it and found it very interesting you can read more here. Check the lyrics below. . .
(I'm Black) Whether I'm poor or rich, or rich or poor Though its all the same shit (I'm Black) Even though my skins kind of light That means my ancestors was raped by somebody white (I'm Black) So I like to sing dance and crack jokes Eat good food and be around black folks (I'm Black) Sort of like the Holys on Sundays Drink all night and still go to work monday (I'm Black) So I like the kids looking real nice Cuz I've been poor and I know what it feels like (I'm Black) And I'ma say it loud like James Brown People be proud cuz we all up in the game now (I'm Black) And I'ma hold my right fist real high Might see my man and we might get real high (I'm Black) And I know it, and I aint afraid to show it (I'm Black) And I'm the genius in the motherfuckin Poet You know it
So proud to be just who I'am So proud to say that I'm me... So proud to be just who I'am So proud to be so free (IM BLACK)
So proud to say that I made it (I'm Black) The one who struggled in the hatred (I'm Black And I'm not afraid to say it (I'm Black..Cuz I know I'm Sinking)
(I'm Black) So I gotta heart full of bravery Do for my peoplez that went through Slavery (I'm Black) So you know I'm young in the sports Nintey percent chance I get hung in the Court (I'm Black) Don't you be scared of me Mister Cuz you don't really seem to be scared of my sister (I'm Black) And I can ride first class too Or buy an exotic car and like murk past you (I'm Black) And I don't need a tan in the winter Mind strong and powerful now a cypher can't enter (I'm Black) And I don't need jewelry to shine Look in my skin color is like the jewelry is blind (I'm Black) They focus on the negative attention Do something positive, and never get mentioned (I'm Black) Listen it's a fact, original man I wouldn't change it if I could and thats that
So proud to be just who I'am So proud to say that I'm me... So proud to be just who I'am So proud to be so free (I'm Black) So proud to say that I made it (I'm Black) The one who struggled in the hatred (I'm Black) And I'm not afraid to say it (I'm Black) (I'm Black...I'm Black...Ohh...Yeah...Yeah)
(I'm Black) Even with a caramel complextion Look in the mirror see Malcolm and Martin reflection (I'm Black) Just like the PANTHERS, looking for an answer It's prejudice shit is like a cancer (I'm Black) Look in my eyes the wall can't get pulled over Look in my cars and stay gettin pulled over (I'm Black) Me the public enemies number one Government looking in the hood sending in the gun (I'm Black) I grew up off the good time show Drink liquor smoke weed and let the good times roll (I'm Black) I live for my wife and my seeds And my mom with a bond only God can acceed (I'm Black) I got to show my homeboys love First thing you learnt in the hood is homeboy love (I'm Black) And I'm mad if I ain't nuthin else (I'm Black) I'm beautiful and I love myself (Say together) YEAH! (Love myself...Ohh yeah)
So proud to be just who I'am So proud to say that I'm me... So proud to be just who I'am So proud to be so free (I'm Black) So proud to say that I made it (I'm Black) The one who struggled in the hatred (I'm Black) And I'm not afraid to say it (I'm Black) (I'm Black...I'm Black...Yeah

In the news
So what is going on? I mean I mean, first I hear the diss record by Cam'ron dissing Jay-Z, so what that beef about again? Nonetheless, the record is pretty cold, and maybe a little personal, not your average battle rap I would say. And then I read today that Jay-Z signs Nas.
Now that is news I could not believe, I mean I am actually shocked. I think it may be a good thing for Hip Hop, but that was a pretty intense Beef, but big ups to the both of them for doing it, seems like a pretty good business deal. What else, what up with the Jamie Foxx NBC special. Is that real, I got numerous emails about it and numerous posts (yes I do read those on myspace) about it. Man if that isnt a slap of racism in our face, if those accusations are true. It sad to say that a lot of emails we get in that format we can't trust because they are usually in the Forwarded format and we really don't know the source. But whether it true or not, I'm gone make it a point to watch that on Jan. 25th. Big ups to the Seahawks for finally making it to the Superbowl, it still S.D. (Chargers, Padres) till I die, but I'll give props when props are due. Ohh and before I get off of here, Look out for the hyphy movement, if you don't know about it, learn about it, because it coming. Me living in the bay for about 6 years of my life, back in forth, I love the Bay, when I went back out there for school like 3 years ago people out there had already started gettin hyphy. Two years ago my hoop squard warmed up to the song "Hyphy". So the hyphy movement has been in motion for some years now, don't think it new people. So be on the lookout for that, with New albums coming out from E-40 and The Team among others, I'm sure you gone hear some beats that slap and you might even be tempted to go dumb dumb dumb dumb. Play the video to see more! |

Photoshop Rendition
So lately I have been playing around with photoshop brushing up on my skills, and after creating my own drawing in photoshop, I have created another one of my boy M. Dot at the Kanye West concert here in Washington about a month ago. I threw both abstracts in my photo gallery and now I am going to post them here, feel free to comment on them, I really threw some artistic value into these, so if you know anything about design, like the rule of thirds or CRAP (contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity) feel free to give me some feedback, and if you don't feel free to leave some as well still.

What new for the new year
My guess, video! It amazing how many new video items are appearing on the net, some new ones I came across and I thought were tight was http://video.google.com/- your basic google search, only all video, something like what they did for their images. I'm not sure how they index the video, but it a pretty good job, just seems the server is very slow, all my videos loaded slow. One tight video I found the live performance of Jay-Z and Nas back in October. check it out here http://www.youtube.com/ - I like this website, it lets you upload your own video and share it with anyone on the net. I dunno how they get the server space to do this, but it a great idea, and it free. Be careful of the content though, it gets very random, although I did like the video by the team I found on here titled "bottles up" http://www.vongo.com/. - I think vongo is going to be the first of many channels to provide this service. What vongo is, it is the cable channel STSRZ! is making their content available via download over the internet for a montly fee. All the movies that STARZ! offers you can download and watch on your computer or portable device like a PDA with windows media player, PSP or Ipod Video. As for your boy, nothing new going on, just a new year, trying to get right and make this one better than last year, which had its ups and downs. My heart goes out to my family in San Dago, sorry I couldn't make it down.

I'm Rich. . . . .
so while browsing the internet as I do from time to time, I found a real interesting article on MSN Money. It was talking about how much money does it take to actually be rich. Like most people, from time to time I worry about money and of course I want to be rich, or at least live comfortable. But at the end of the story they had a link to the Global Rich List. And according to this list, I am in the top 5.99

Make Moves
So I've been making some moves. Tonite, I finished my first paid gig as a DJ. Things went really good. I enjoyed it a lot and will probably in the short future invest in some DJ equipment. I also re-created another rss reader that I plan to incorporate into a new website I am currently building. This rss reader is actually pulling the rss feed from this blog, it would be kind of redundant to put it here, but it will serve a good purpose on my site, as I like blogging here on myspace, but want to incorporate my feed in my site, so this is my solution. I would like to give thanks to the tutorial I found @ http://www.thegoldenmean.com/technique/rssReader01.html and all the help the creator gave me, thank you. I found the tutorial extremely helpful and learned a lot from it. If anyone is interested in flash and learning some XML, this is a great start.

Cuz when you ego trip. . . . . .you just lose your luggage
My moms would often remind me when I was younger to humbly thyself. She is a real religious woman of god who distilled in all her kids some good values and morals. Although some people (you know who you are) think my morals are f**ked up, that another story. For whatever reason, lately I have been extremely irritable and it seems like everyday I can't get enough sleep, and when I do wake up, I'm always waking up on the wrong side of the bed. But I finally feel a lil better, after reminiscing with an old ponta, cuz one of my old pontas hit me up from waaaaay back when I use to stay in Frisco on here, which was cool. What also made me feel a lil better was thinking about how my moms would tell me how to humble myself and just deal with things. I think what I'm going through is a real humbling experience, after graduating I expected so much more, instead I'm faced with hella problems, rather than being able to to what I thought I would be doing. But after thinking long and hard, I guess it best for me, what don't kill me will only make me stronger. So what been going down, a lot of relaxing music for one, so when you stressed, some music I suggest that is calming and relaxing is (Looks like I spend a lot of time at okayplayer.com huh) Jaguar Wright - Divorcing Neo to marry Soul
Floetry - Flo'ology
Ginuwine - Back II Da Basics
Glenn Lewis - World Outside My Window
Alicia Keys - Unplugged
Dwele - Some Kinda
Raphael Saadiq - Anything he makes
Goapele - Closer
Amel Larrieux - Bravebird
D'Angelo - VooDoo
John Legend - Get Lifted
Mary J Blige - My Life
Musiq - Both Albums
Stevie Wonder - The Definitive Collection Those are just a few I been bumping this week. And for anyone interested, I did another article for seaspot.com a few weeks ago, hopefully it will get printed in the magazine, it already on the site, you can read it here. I haven't gotten a chance to pick up a copy, but if you in the Seattle / Tacoma area, mos def pick up a seaspot magazine, check locations here. Let me know what you think of my work, and my musical selection.

Movin in the constant state of nowhere
What a waste of a weekend, I tried to do a lot, but really got nothing accomplished. I hate the feeling when you try to figure something out and never do. Among other things, one thing I was trying to do and didn't finish was how to write a rss reader in flash, although I already written a rss reader, I'm trying to make this one and incorporate it in a new web page design I have created, and I've hit a real road block.
But the resource I was using has exactly what I needed, although it is very complicated. I have one problem with the code that, I cannot move the rssProxy.php to another location, it makes flash commit some kind of error and I cannot figure out how to correct it.
Thanks to my roommate I've re-design my PC to look just like an apple thanks to these pages, so if your interested I highly suggest you check out the following pages.
Windows to Mac emulation page - everything you need you can find on this page to go from Windows to Mac without switching OS
Konfabulator - Cool widget program that adds flavor to your PC.
RKLauncher - Cool program launcher program.

Over a Month
It been over a month since I blogged, that a good minute for me. Well as always, hella [blank] been poppin off with me, probably the best thing I've did, that was the tightest [blank] to me was going to the Tacoma Urban League annual dinner. Yea it was a very good learning experience about african american history in Tacoma and made me even more want to get invlove in my community.
And the past 3 weeks I started workin out hoopin again, and for the first two, I couldn't even walk. I mean I mean, it was bad at trying to walk around at work, straight pain. That sucked, but I'm cool now and getting back into the swing of things as far as that goes.
And the weather in Washington is hella weak, I mean, it was like 30 degrees today and snowing. . . snowing, what is that all about, Monterey is weak and all, but at least it warm compared to here, that one thing I miss about Cali, the weather.
And in my always never-ending endeavors to learn more about computers I came across a hella tight page about new software and other news called betanews.com. While browsing the page I found a free program called Blender. It tight because it is a 3-D program for free, something like 3-D Studio Max, Swift 3-D and Maya. Well I've been trying to get into 3-D design and what now, and now I've found an open source solution, so that cool, just thought I share that with the world. But I would most def suggest checkin out betanews.com, there are some good finds there, I also just found a program that will overclock my video card, tight!

Moving a Million. . .
Words a minute, quicker than a new york minute. Awww how to keep up? Well what up with ya boy Jay Dub. Well I had one hell of a weekend in Canada this weekend. Including topping off with stopping at a casino on the way home, walking in with 30 bucks and walking out with 300 bucks. Now that is a come up. I wanna send a shout out to everyone on the space that shows ya boy love, it really is well appreciated. I been working on these designs for ACT-SO and their brochure. On top of that I've been working overtime this past week and a half, so much that I don't have to work the rest of the week. But nah, gotta get this money so everything after today will be overtime, cha-ching. Okay, so please send feedback about these three designs, I just wanna see what people thing about them, so I would appreciate that after you read my bulletin you come and comment on these designs. Click on images to see full size

Me personally, I don't have a fav design, I guess I've looked at all of them for so long, they all give me the same feeling. Interesting thoughts (at least I thought so) I see a lot of people on the space using photobucket. Photobucket isn't that bad, but there are some major drawbacks to photobucket, like banner ads, a montly bandwidth limit (2,500 MB) and they resize your images to at the largest 250 KB, which isn't bad for most people but pretty much sucks. So I thought it would be nice to share with the 100 plus people that view this blog daily that there is something better that exist. It called Flickr. It great, I have been using it for a long time, and since I have an old account, I actually have an account with Flickr. Since then, I think they been bought by Yahoo!, which could be bad, but the service is still great. There is, from what I know, no monthly bandwidth limits, no banner ads, and although they resize images too, there are at a larger size and better quality. Pictures are sized as big as 1024X768 pixels and I've had photos up to 700KB in size. A huge difference in quality compared to photobucket. You can also do tight stuff like create slideshows that are presented in flash. There is a ton of other features flickr lets you do as well, but I will let you explore the site and find those out for yourself. So what's the verdict, all you myspacers stop using photobucket and go try out flickr, it is well worth it.

My Never-Ending
In my never-ending work-a-holic life, I also volunteer for a NAACP program called ACT-SO, which stands for The Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics. It a really great program for young black kids to get involve in, and if you win in your region, you get a all-expense paid trip to nationals. This year nationals is held in Washington DC, so if you know anyone in high school that might be interested tell them to hit me up or google ACT-SO. Or if your in high school and would like to know more, holla at me. There are like 25 different categories you can compete in so anything you like doing probably can tie into the competition. So I am helping out with the Seattle Region, doing some things here and there and I created this flyer, I wanted to put it up to get some feedback on what people think, I'm going to do a few more designs but this is the first one and I did it really quick so don't kill me with your comments.

M.I.A
Yea I been M.I.A (Missing IN Action) but ya know, I been real busy lately. I need to use my sidekick for more than just tex messages and chattin. That why I took the time out to finally get things organized. Well I guess I would need to because I'm about to start working 10 hr days, which now that I think about it is crazy. Along with getting my life organized, I had to redesign my PC GUI (Graphical User Interface) because what I had just sucked, the Windows GUI sucks, but you can do some okay things to do it to get it up to speed. Me, I love the MAC OS GUI, so I created a Windows Mac cross on my PC, check it out. Click on the link to view the larger picture.

The programs I used to do this was Style XP, Sysmetrix, andRainlendar. Two of the three are free, the only one that cost is Style Xp, but it comes with a 30 day trial. I'm on the trial right now, but I like it for the most part, so I plan on buying it within the next week. You can download all of them at their sites and browse sites like wincustomize.com & customize.org to download different variations to create your own windows feel. I found it to be pretty easy actually, only downfall to me was I could not get Sysmetrix audio controls to work with iTunes, so I had to install Winamp to get it to function correctly. But other than that it is great. F.Y.I, also if you plan on using winamp, I would suggest to use the older 2.xx versions. After that, Winamp starting packing their software with a bunch of junk, so if you can find those older ones, they will do the job just the same.
And music, there has been a lot of new music comeing out, more crap than quality, but if you look, there is some quality out there. Than again, who am I to say who is good and who is not, it is simply my opinion and that it. But I would suggest these two albums, because they are tight. First the new DJ Quick (not Quik, he changed the way he spells it ont he album), Album. Trauma. Not only does the Compton representa bust with some tight flows, he also has a all-star feature line up on the album collaborating with people like Nate Dogg, The Game, AMG, & Wyclef. DJ Quik, to me boast some of the tightest beats, between him and Raphael Saadiq, they come with the smoothest beats I think ever created. Just check out the album, it is mos def worth the time.

Ladies I ain't forgot about you, and neither did Alicia Keys. Her new album, Unplugged, I was just listening (and currently am as I type) and was thinking, wow, this is a live recording. You just don't get that quality of music anymore from all the studio produced music. It nice to hear somone just blow, very refreshing to my musical ears, all I can say is thank you A Keys for holding it down like that. The album is mos def worth anybody time that is a R&B fan.
Iight ya'll I'm out for tonite, that more than enough from me for now!
