Rotten Recap & Horroryearbook Pigman Contest Announcement!
Current mood: hungover
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Okay, here it is. The Rotten Jack's Creep Show - Premiere Screening of The Pigman Recap.

The entire day was insane but truly awesome in many, many ways.

Noon - Went over to Greg's for pizza & wings with Gunnar Hansen. What could be better than having Lunch with Leatherface? I had a great time talking with everyone there - Rod, Matt, Dave Gray, Sean, Gi (Heir Apparent to Gunnar's throne), Tamar, Greg and of course, Gunnar. Just sitting there listening to Gunnar's stories was awesome, he's a really cool, down to earth, awesome guy. To think that he's the same man behind one of the most vicious movie monsters of all time is just mind boggling.

Four - Dana and I arrived at the Town Ballroom, Matty Mask pulls in next to us. We load in together and wait what seems like forever for Rod to get there with all the rest of our stuff. All and all, it was worth the wait.

Greg Lamberson's Johnny Gruesome screened at 6:30 followed by The Pigman at 7 p.m., it was cool seeing The Pigman with so many of the people that helped put it together and have supported us from the start including my parents, Tina, Madeline, Joe, Bob, Jen, Jessica, Dan & his girlfriend, Mike (The Pigman himself), Sarah (The Bride of Pigman!), Rod & Dana. From what I could tell, I think people seemed to like it.

We had a table in the corner of one of the vendor rooms sandwiched between Greg Lamberson & Matty Mask, literally cornering the market on all things Pigman & Gruesome. Rebecca, Stacy (Meat Beard!) & Melissa rocked our booth hardcore. We sold a whole bunch of DVD's and Matt and I also sold 2 Pigman masks. I remember telling Matt a few weeks ago, we'd be lucky if we actually sold one.

It was great to finally get a chance to talk with Bob from Low Road Revival and Art & Body face to face. In case you don't know, Low Road provided the music for the pickup truck scene and the end credits! I also had a chance to hang out and talk with Bill Page from a while - Bill is so bad ass! Spent some time chatted with Rodrigo Gudino from Rue Morgue as well as Melantha Blackthorne and also got to meet Debbie Rochon and Amy Lynn Best, two very great ladies!

Midnight - We closed up our table, then went out to a couple bars to wrap the night... but that's another story.

My eternal thanks to Tommy from the Creep Shack for putting together such a bad ass horror event. I can't wait until next year.

Then, I wake up this morning and Matt sends me an email. The Pigman Mask contest is live on Horroryearbook. Check out http://www.horroryearbook.com/543930/contest-win-the-pigman-mask-just-in-time-for-halloween for your chance to win your very own Pigman mask and a copy of The Pigman on DVD.

Later,
Jay.

No Budget Film Festival Recap
Current mood: hungover
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

I found this on Buffalo Spree Magazine's online blog - www.spreeblog.com

Sunday's Bills game seems far away right now, so if you're looking for an interesting way to make it 'till game time, here's a neat event for Saturday night:
"Buffalo based independent movie company No Budget Films premieres its fourth film, The Big Mess, at the Riviera Theatre at 67 Webster Street in North Tonawanda at 6 p.m. on September 6. Doors open at 5:30.
"The Big Mess started out as Bang, Bang, Bang, a friendly little romp through murder and organized crime. It ended up as The Big Mess, a crash dive into a documentary on how NOT to make a movie. The director, Greg Sterlace, co-writer Paula Wachowiak, and Gwen Kiersz, the 'leading lady,' will take you on an wacky tour through the mishaps of making an independent film on a budget of approximately nothing.
"The festival also features local filmmakers such as Novim Productions, Jay Mager, Emil Novak, Phil Utech, Mr. Ski Mask, Sal Monaco, Erin Bahn and more. There will be a reception in the theatre after the screening to meet the casts, crews, and actors. Music will be supplied by Bad Ronald, Same Haircut, Pain Killers, Fox Elipsus, The Effers and other local talent.
"Tickets are available through email at juniperpmw@yahoo.com, the Home of the Future at 45 Shanley Street, or the night of the performance at the Riviera Theatre box office."
Sounds fun, and it's always nice to support local filmmakers—especially those with a sense of humor.

My Quick Recap
I had a great time at the festival. Greg, Paula and Richard did a great job putting together an interesting lineup of films, The Big Mess was hilarious & Greg's band rocked! I won't lie - seeing An Awkward Moment on the big screen at the majestic & historic Riviera theatre was pretty sweet too.

Jay.

Appearance on The Greg Sterlace Show - Check it out!
Current mood: crazy
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Myself and Rod Durick, Special FX God and Supreme Emperor of Zombified Studios will be appearing on this week's episode of the Greg Sterlace Show. If you live in the area and have Time Warner cable, please check it out tomorrow or Friday!

In Erie County:
Cable CH. 20
Wednesday Night at 11:00 p.m.

In The City of Buffalo:
Cable CH. 20
Friday Night at 8:30 p.m.

The show features the premiere showing (if you will) of the film Bob, Jen and I did back in January "An Awkward Moment" as well as the mass media unveiling of the teaser trailer for "The Pigman". You also get to see me in the infamous Pigman mask as I manage to get co-host Paula's name wrong right after I am corrected on what her name is - Yeah, I still get it wrong. I didn't get into a fight with Ski Mask but it is relatively entertaining nevertheless.

If you don't have Time Warner or just can't wait, you can check it out over at http://sterlace.blogspot.com/

We are the second guests about 11:30 into the show.

Thanks,
Jay.

The Stupidest Idea I’ve Ever Heard - A Plan 9 Remake?
Current mood: pissed off
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Okay, I just read a quick little article on Horror 101 about some stupid shitheads who are going to do a remake of Plan 9 from Outer Space - to be released on 9/9/09, obviously. All I have to say is "Fucking Lame".

I don't really give a shit if some big studio wants to remake Texas Chainsaw or Prom Night or whatever other other shit they want to pump out for audiences who probably didn't even see the originals so they can cash in big time. Shit - Honestly, I didn't really mind Rob Zombie's Halloween - and that's a lot to say given my love for Carpenter and the original and what not and yeah, I guess I could probably be bought to sign on for a remake if the price was right and I actually believed in it - but please, please don't fuck with Plan 9.

Sure - it's fucking clever to release it on 9/9/09 since those fuckers obviously missed out on the whole 6/6/06 fun but give me a fucking break. The whole point of Plan 9 is that Ed Wood pulled out all the stops and did whatever the fuck he had to do to get the film made and yes, it is "considered" the worst film in the history of cinema if you believe all that typical bullshit but nevertheless - it was Ed Wood for fuck sakes. I really, really wish they wouldn't fuck with Plan 9.

Ed Wood poured his heart and soul into making what everyone considers a shitty ass movie but he did it with pride and style and a fuck you attitude that without which we wouldn't have Roger Corman, Lloyd Kaufman, Spike Lee, Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and any other renegade director who ever decided to say "Fuck all you assholes, I'm making a fucking movie."

So I just want to give a big FUCK YOU to these assholes who I'm sure will probably make a shit load more money then Ed ever made in his entire live just by snatching up on the brilliant fucking idea to do a fucking remake to be released on 9/9/09 - Fuck those fucks, fuck them up their stupid asses.

NOTE - For those of you not used to me ranting like this - you can obviously see how pissed off I am about this. I have never been this pissed off about a remake in my entire life. Fuck it. I'm gonna start raising money to remake Godfather. How do you like that you stupid fucking assholes? Did I just fuck with the fucking Holy Grail or what? Maybe we should all just go do a fucking remake of Mean Streets while we are at it. Come on, it's fun to just redo someone else's art instead of trying to do something original.

Yours Ever So Truly,
Jay.

Day Three Production Photos - Part One
Current mood: excited
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

This time, Rod beat me to the punch on posting up some photos of Day Three as well as some behind the scenes SFX stuff. Check it all out over at The Pigman Movie Photo Album, a fine addition to The Zombified Studios Profile

I will still post a bunch more to the The Pigman Movie profile once everything calms down.

We are only 8 hours away for The Weekend of the Damned as we spend the next two days filming the rest of the movie! Wish us luck as we tromp through the mud like Chuck Norris in Delta Force!

Pigman Pix from Day One added to The Pigman Movie Profile
Current mood: content

The stills from Day One of filming on The Pigman are now up in the new photo album - The Pigman Production Stills Day One 3/22/08. Check them out and please leave some comments to let everyone know how great a job they did.

Thanks to Sarah for being our still photographer and getting some awesome shots and thanks to Rod for cropping and adding the watermark.

Tomorrow is Day Three and we are filming a big SFX scene. We just finished art direction on the set a couple hours ago and it looks pretty sweet.

I will post a recap on this week’s activities to The Pigman Movie Profile later in the week. Please add The Pigman Movie to your friends if you haven’t already to keep up with everything as it happens or as close to real time as I can.

Thanks,
Jay.

Preproduction Updates on The Pigman Movie!
Current mood: drunk
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Preproduction Updates for The Pigman Movie - 3/17/2008

Okay - so I may be duplicating things here. Sorry!

Anyway - Happy St. Patricks Day! While many of you are out enjoying your share of green beer or Guinness, The Pigman is lurking in the woods off Holland Road searching for a leprechaun to slaughter.

Seriously though, a couple quick updates for you all.

1. The full cast & crew listing has been added to the Zombified Studios site, check it out here!

2. We received a nice plug on Fear Zone over the weekend, you can check it out at fearzone.com or go to the direct link at http://www.fearzone.com/blog/pigman-cometh Please sign up and leave a comment over there to show your support. The great folks over at Fear Zone have been ever so kind to us!

3. The full script read through is scheduled for tomorrow night and The Pigman Mask, created by Matt from MattyMask.com will be making a special appearance. Rumor has it that The Pigman himself will also be in attendance! Don’t worry, we’ll be filming it all so hopefully we can share it with everyone at some point. With any luck, our Official French Canadian Pigman Movie Mascot - Zee Rat will make an appearance as well. I’ll try not to mate with it this time.

4. Filming begins this weekend! We plan to shoot the first two sequences, complete with some serious gore and gratuitous violence. I will try to post some pictures from Saturday’s shoot as soon as possible.

That’s about it for now!

Thanks,
Jay.
