17th to the 20th of April 2008 : AMR Jazz Festival
Current mood: artistic
Hi folks,
My weekly blogs are becoming more rare.. busy times these last days.
Despite of that, I found the time to prepare and to show you a selection of my best photographs of the AMR Jazz Festival I covered from the 17h to the 20th of April 2008.
The following groups have played these year at this fantastic festival, it was a very good edition :
- Vinz Vonlanthen guitar solo - Yves Robert "L'Argent" - LeBocal - Cosa Brava, Fred Frith group - duo Chloé Levy - Yannick Delez - Jerry Granelli V16 - No Pub Tree - Henri Texier Strada Sextet
I missed an evening.. the following group played but I have not documented this evening :
- Le Grupetto - Tamagochi - Fab Trio
Here you will find 52 photos in a chronological order :
I found a very good video on youtube of one of the groups who played during the festival : Henri Texier Strada Sextet. This concert was one the best of the festival
And as usual, don't hesitate to let comments, it's ever cool to read your impressions. I thank you in advance ;-)
Tribute to François Chevrolet
Current mood: contemplative
Hello,
Friday, François Chevrolet passed away.
I live in Geneva and I'm more or less the official photographer of an association called "AMR" (http://www.amr-geneve.ch). The AMR is a jazz club and a jazz school.
François Chevrolet was one the AMR and of the local jazz scene pillars as a teacher and musican, likewise a kind, honest and humble man.
Furthermore, he plays on one of my favorite cds, a duo released in 2002 with the great pianist Michel Bastet (http://www.myspace.com/michelbastet ). You can hear and buy the album here, it's a gem http://www.audiolunchbox.com/album?a=156649
so, my way to render hommage to him is to show you some photos I took him during these 4 last years with his different groups "La Fanfare du Loup", "Barytone Time" and "Bastet-Chevrolet New Impressions"
2007 Best of .. part 5/??? - 1 photo per session or concert
Current mood: artistic
Hi folks ;-)
After more than 1 month of silence, at last, I had time and was pleased to prepare a new retrospective about my work.
I hope you will enjoy checkin’ it out.
Finally, I’d like to say to all the people who left me nice comments and to whom I have not answered yet that I’m very grateful because all these kind words give me strenght
PS : and as a goodie here you have a short film about the great italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu (it’s in italian)
Why ? Because I assisted to a concert of Paolo last Friday and I loved the sound of this man. By the way I have "painted" with photoshop one of the photos I took to Paolo
One of my photos has inspired a painter
Current mood: enthralled
Hi,
I have a very close and personal friend. Her name is Cath, she's french, from Paris, and she's a very sensitive artist. She paints, she takes photos, she writes.
And she was inspired by one of my photos for a painting...
I took this photo the 24th of Abril 2005 during a Leo Tardin's concert "Grand Pianoramax". He had a guest, a vocalist and unfortunately I have never noticed his name. If someone recognize him .. don't hesitate to contact me.
The photo :
The Cath's painting :
I hope to have the time to prepare soon a new retrospective
