IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

So, here's how it works:

1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie!

Opening credits:
"Hey" Red Hot Chili Peppers

Waking Up:
"Modern World" Wolf Parade

First Day At School:
"Don't Rock My Boat" Bob Marley & The Wailers

Life:
"U Can't Touch This" MC Hammer (what?)

Mental Breakdown:

"Nice" Duran Duran (80's flashback?)

"Fantastic Voyage" Lakeside (I cheated on this one...the original was lame)

Birth of Child:
"Summer Nights" Olivia Newton-John & John Travolta (excellent!)

Final Battle:

Death Song:
"Scentless Apprentice" Nirvana

Funeral Song:

"Man I swear she's bad and she knows!"
Current mood: rejuvenated
Category: Music

"The baddest in town
She's flawless like some uncut ice!"
-Song that was written about me

What:  J. Timberlake in concert
When:  March 8th, 7:30-11:00 pm
Where:  Quest Center, Omaha
Openers/Guests/Dancers:  Pink, unbelievably fit dance troop, Timbaland and his DJ equipment

I thought it might be important to let all my friends know about the new millennium Michael Jackson, who is known as Justin Timberlake.  I had the privilege of watching him bust an infinite number of dance moves and sing 2 hours of pop-injected hits.

Pink was sassy, but not so talented.  She had some interesting gimmicks, but I wasn't there to see her, obviously.  So, a few times I yelled out, "It's time for JT!", but I don't think she heard me from the back row.

I did, however, "spaz out" when JT finally appeared.  It definitely felt like a 1964 Beatles moment.  I believe I shouted, "We're in the same room!"  The lights/stage/band/loudness-factor were all phenomenal.

I treated this experience like one, endless dance-fest.  I ran out of energy for a bit, but when Timbaland came on for his mixing promo, I promptly hopped out of my seat and continued to pop and lock.  I half kicked a girl in front of me because I my excitement-don't worry, I apologized.

Needless to say, I bought a T-shirt and poster.  JT melted my face off with his dance moves.  Who cares if you don't like pop music or this former boy band member:  I was darn entertained, so everyone should find at least one good thing to say about him or his album!

Thanks for reading. Now go listen to Arcade Fire.

I like this one.
Current mood: nostalgic

Senior year...let's go back, way back.

Grad Year: 2003

2. What sports did you play?
Yeah right...I'm a writing nerd: Yearbook, Newspaper, etc

3. What kind of car did you drive?
Wow, the same one as right now- 1994 Ford Escort...it's ready for funeral, I'd say.

4. It's Friday night, where were you?
Hanging with my peeps...movies, XF marathons, Chinese food, friend's houses

5. Were you a party animal?
Nope

6. Were you in the "In Crowd"?
Well, I'm pretty sure there weren't any crowds, but I suppose so

7. Ever skip school?
I didn't leave the school, technically, but I did wander around A LOT.

No

9. Were you a nerd?
I was nerdy about the things I liked...nothing's changed there.

10. Did you get suspended/expelled?
Never

11. Can you sing the alma mater?

12. Who was your favorite teacher?
There's no hesitation- Mrs. Malcom, hands down. 2) Mr. Rex 3) Ms. Bergman

Lincoln Christian High School

15. School mascott?
a Crusader

16. Did you go to Prom?
Jr and Sr year

17. If you could go back and do it over, would you?
Only my senior year because it was ridiculously fun, the rest I might change.

18. What do you remember most about graduation?
Hugging everyone after the ceremony, yes, hugging (Emily!)

19. Favorite memory of your Senior Year?
Every single day!  "Study hall," tricking Ms. Litwak in Yearbook, helping Johanna make her table for Art, Winter Dinner, State B-ball games to name just a few.

20. Were you ever posted up on the senior wall?
What?

21. Did you have a job your senior year?
Actually no, I was blessed, because school +work=HARD.

Ha, no one.

23. Where did you go most often for lunch?
the multi-purpose room

24. Have you gained weight since then?
Oh my yes...maybe 5-10 right now.  So, I'm working on taking that off...

Babysat in the summers, got 2 restaurant jobs, went to Chi-town 4 times, California, New York City, liked a few boys, dated one, ate some great meals, went to U2, The Shins, The Killers, Death Cab, and pretty much figured out how much I need Jesus in my life, because I'm one bad sinner.

John Smith, I love you!
Current mood: crazy
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Isn't Pocahontas amazing?  Yeah, it is.  Here are some other "really great" flics, according to me:

Batman Returns
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1, 2, 3)
Land Before Time
Heavyweights
Homeward Bound
Free Willy (ok, FW2, too)
The Micheal Jacson Video at the end of the Free Willy tape
Cool Runnings
Hook
The Addams Family
Jumanji
The Sandlot
Home Alone (and HA2, I suppose)
It Takes Two
Mulan
Hocus Pocus
Casper  (Devon Sawa, anyone?)
Now & Then
The Witches (this is one strange movie...)
The Rocketeer
Beethoven
Arachnophobia (the one with John Goodman)
Selena
White Fang

As an only child, I apparently had some extra time in the 90's to see all of these bizarre and/or awesome films.  So, which of these did you watch 50 times?  Did you want to strap a iron rocket to your back like me?  Wasn't Christina Ricci worthy of an Oscar?

When you get some time, respond to those tough questions.

"Look what ya did ya little jerk!"

Fire and Brimstone on the Streets
Current mood: amused

Dangerous, Entertaining, and Potentially Harmful Events of My Holiday:

-Spraying Lysol on plastic bottles and stuffing them with ground bloom flowers
-creating a bonfire on the street comprised of said plastic bottles, newspaper, and fireworks and burning a pothole in the tar covered road
-realizing that my parents' trashcan is flaming toward the heavens and then drowning it with gallons of water
-aiming and launching small/medium/large bottle rockets down the street/at the vacant house next to my parents' neighbors' home
-smoking out an empty shed with a smoke stick...that blew in half and into flames as it made contact with the shed
-creating homemade "bombs" with cracklers, black cats, smoke sticks, tape, a box, and a fuse
-feeling a defective smoke stick explode into my hand
-cowering as the neighbor's cannon shook every human on the block
-Running desperately to grab pales of water to douse my uncles burning pine tree after a giant display firework tipped over and almost destroyed it

So all in all, I didn't die, I was only minorly burned once, and I enjoyed going from great excitement to extreme terror in less than a minute!

School vs. Summer
Current mood: refreshed
Category: Life

I haven't posted since March 1st...wow.  I'll tell you right away, I think I've changed since then.  And here's how.

This spring semester, which is now finally over, has possibly been the most challenging, time consuming, yet fulfilling 15 weeks of class I have ever experienced.  My mind was beat and stretched thanks to the 25+ books I was assigned.

Here are three important subjects I learned about inside and out:  class, race, and gender.  I'll just relay to you some of the terms/people that I learned about (you might want to check out some of them...and some not so much, you decide):  the Harlem Renaissance, Jane Addams, feminist theory, New York City in the 19th century, race riots, the media, urban geography, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and lesbian culture.

Much of what I'm talking about might seem a little too academic for Myspace.  Well, I think it's about time some of us enjoy learning and discussing the one subject we've chosen to critically analyze for a few years.  For me, that's history.

Summer is still way rad, though.  It's nice to not think as much.  However, I'm now more curious about society and different forms of learning.

So, I'll leave you with this...
...grill some hot dogs, read the Bible outside, lick some popsicles, chill by the pool, buy some great music (start with Arctic Monkeys), and do all the stuff you told yourself you shouldn't do because you had too much homework.

I think I'll go dance...I haven't done that in far too long.

New for the Year
Current mood: hopeful

I think it's fitting to write my first blog of 2006 about new notions.

Just at this second I'm thinking about Death Cab's song "The New Year."  Here are some lyrics to ponder:

so this is the new year.
and i don't feel any different.
the clanking of crystal
explosions off in the distance

...

i wish the world was flat like the old days
then i could travel just by folding a map
no more airplanes, or speedtrains, or freeways
there'd be no distance that can hold us back.

Here's what I have to say about that.  I'm 21 years old, single, and ready...just ready to live.  I do feel a little different.  But no explosions, though.  I'm not trying to sound brilliant or new, but rather serious and aware of what's happening in my life.

I'm looking at a semester filled with hardcore academics.  History and English...subjects I do enjoy.  I'm doing what I like.  So, how about 2 years from now when I graduate?  It will be another new year.  What's my new reality then?  Move? Stay? Wait?

I don't typically write such "real" blogs but it's probably good that I'm thinking about my future and what I'm going to do for God.  I guess as long as I'm ready for another year then I'll be just fine.
