Good news: Just sold Chinese language (complex characters) rights for HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE and ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE. I can't even begin to figure out how to say "whee!" in Chinese ;-).
Also, for those of you interested in downloading wallpaper from the cover of AT GRAVE'S END, I have that available on my website now: http://www.jeanienefrost.com/at-graves-end.html
Wrote another 4K words on the werewolf story this weekend, so now I only have about 4K more words to go. Hope to have that done tomorrow or the next day, when I'm home from the Day Job.
Chapter One for AT GRAVE'S END - not available yet. It was gently suggested to me by my pub house that I shouldn't put it up much more than ninety days out from release. But, look for it at the end of this month, because - wow - that'll be ninety days until release! :)

Free story
First, thanks for all the high-fives on my new cover! You guys are awesome :).
Okay, free reading - I uploaded a partial short story onto frostfans.com website. It's what I'd originally started for the WEDDINGS FROM HELL anthology before I decided it didn't fit the tone. But, if you'd like to read about 5K words of a story that takes place between the events of HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE and ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE, go here and look under the "Deleted Scenes" forum. This story contains the scene where Cat first meets Denise, and where Juan makes the mistake of calling Cat "kitten", among other things :). Enjoy!
Back to writing the werewolf short story for the Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance anthology...

Finally, the cover!
I finally have permission to post the cover for AT GRAVE'S END, book three in the Night Huntress series. Without further ado, here it is! This may be my favorite cover so far. Sorry it's huge; I've been wrestling with LJ and Photobucket for half an hour. Results - they won, because I couldn't make either program resize the pictures to medium:

And here is the stepback on the inside cover...yes, Bones's hair is dark again in this book:

As I stated in a previous post, the quotes on the cover are changing, but everything else will be the same as in the final, printed book version. I love, love, love the winter background, because the climax of AT GRAVE'S END takes place on New Year's Eve in Canada, so the snow and ice images are perfect!
From the back of the book:
SOME THINGS WON'T STAY BURIED...AT GRAVE'S END
It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield's life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she's successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat's worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover's finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger.
As if that wasn't enough, a woman from Bones's past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat's about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she's learned as a special agent won't help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself - and Bones - from a fate worse than the grave.
***
Look for the first chapter of AT GRAVE'S END to be posted on my website at the end of the month.

Good news for a friend
I had to share this: my friend and fellow paranormal writer, Ilona Andrews, (go HERE if you want to friend her on MySpace) received some AWESOME news: her books sold to Germany in a foreign rights deal that made my eyes pop out at the dollar signs attached to it. Since I loved Ilona's books, I think Germany made the right decision.
If you're interested in what Germany was so excited about (and France, since they bought rights, too. And the New York Times, since Ilona's last book hit the NYT list) you can read for yourself. MAGIC BITES and MAGIC BURNS, books one and two in the Kate Daniels' series, are on the shelves. For book description, excerpts, and ordering links, you can go here: http://www.ilonaland.com/
Once more, congrats, Ilona!

Lost email?
Okay, I was mailing the cover flats from the Grave contest, and I saw that I only have 18 addresses when there were 20 winners. My inbox has been known to eat the occasional email, so here are the names from the people I did receive addresses from:
Jessica P
Poppy A
Lacy O
Celena J
Angela K
Missy B
Amy Z
Susan D
Stephanie S
Katherine H
Melinda M
Sarah P
Candace R
Ginna W
Shae M
Naomi D
Katy W
If you don't see your name here and you were one of the AT GRAVE'S END coverflat winners, please email me at frostlight1 AT yahoo DOT com and give me your address.
***ETA*** The two missing winners contacted me, so I don't have more flats to give away. But now I am worried that my inbox might have eaten other emails...

All kinds of giveaways
Yesterday I opened a package that contained a long-awaited item: my coverflats for AT GRAVE'S END! I may have mentioned once or twice that I really love my new cover. I can't show it yet - two more weeks, my editor tells me - but what I can do, is give away the shiny pretty cover flats.
There's a bit of bad news - because my publisher is "going green", they're not giving me many flats at all this time. I only have twenty to give away. So, to be fair to both my Livejournal and my MySpace readers, I'm splitting it to ten on each site. And, because I don't allow anonymous comments on my blog (to ward off trolls), I'm not doing the giveaway until tomorrow, which lets anyone interested sign up for an LJ or a MySpace account in the interim (both are free).
Between 10am and 2pm Eastern time tomorrow on Livejournal, I will do a Get Your Grave On post. The cover flats will be given to the first ten people who leave a comment on the post. Then, between 3pm and 7pm tomorrow on MySpace, I will do another Get Your Grave On post. Same dealie, first ten people who leave a comment win the cover flats. Yes, I will ship internationally.
Note: the coverflats will be slightly different from the final book cover image, in that the quotes on it are changing. Older quotes were used for "placeholder" purposes while new quotes are gathered for this book. The cover has a stepback, like the other two did, and on the stepback, you get a picture of Bones. YUM. And wait until you see the pose Cat is in on the cover. Can you say, flexible?? ;-)
Then, want a chance to win a signed copy of HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE and ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE, plus a $20.00 Amazon gift certificate? If so, mark your calendars for Monday, when Bitten By Books is hosting an interview with me, plus a giveaway.
As taken from their website:
Please join us at 7:00 am PDT (10:am Eastern) with author Jeaniene Frost for an exclusive Bitten by Books interview. Then throughout the day you will be able to post in her interview thread and ask questions about her previously released and upcoming books. In addition, Jeaniene will be giving away an autographed set of her first two books! In addition Bitten by Books will be giving away a $20.00 Amazon.com Gift Card.. to one lucky participant.
See you there!

Good news...slightly tardy
I meant to post this on Monday, but then I got buried under work at the Day Job, and for most of Tuesday, I was laid out with a migraine.
But, pretend you're reading this on Monday, okay? *wink*
On Sunday, I finished revising my anthology story and sent it to my editor. Deadlines, I conquer you! ;-).
Over the weekend, I received galleys of AT GRAVE'S END, and I will be carefully checking those for any previously unseen errors. As always, the thought that the story is now set in stone and can't be changed fills me with utter panic peaceful contemplation. You'd think I'd be used to this by the third time around, but apparently not.
Oh, and I am excited to report that France has bought translation rights for HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE and ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE. Ceci est bon, non?
This means I will now be able to corrupt innocent minds expose readers to my books in both French and German languages (Germany bought translation rights back in December). To quote Stewie from Family Guy, victory is mine!
I don't have publication dates yet, but once I do, I will post them. And I can't wait to see what the covers will look like.

Conestoga recap
Well, I got in late last night from my drive back from Tulsa. Today was spent unpacking, doing laundry, weeding through my emails, and putting away the books I brought back from the convention (as if my TBR pile wasn't big enough). Re-Conestoga: let me say straight out that there is no way I'll be able to list everyone and everything that was great about it. I'd need five posts to fit it all. That being said, I'm going to try and give a very condensed version ;-).
Elsbeth Bloodgood, the program director of Conestoga, is awe-inspiringly efficient. I can't thank her enough for everything she did to help the Fangs, Fur and Fey panel track. Because we had back-to-back stuff scheduled, I didn't get to spend nearly enough time chatting with people. Authors I've met online, but finally got to see in person (yay!) were Jeanne Stein, Rachel Caine, Ilona Andrews, Marie Brennan, Dakota Cassidy, and Devon Monk. Authors I've met before and wished we could have talked longer were Rachel Vincent, Patrice Michelle, Steve Wedel, PC Cast, and Jeri Smith-Ready (I know I'm forgetting some people., so please forgive me! I'm still not caught up on my sleep).
I also got to meet Erin, one of the three Wonder Women who run my fansite, plus more members of Frost Fans, who were so sweet and enthusiastic, I felt tongue-tied while talking to them. I also met Jen Barnes and Dean Lorey, who I haven't chatted with online before, but I'll be stalking now, because they're smart and hilarious. Tiffany Trent gets another cyber-hug for bringing me cheesecake. Brian Kell and his lovely wife brought posters of my books, which was so cool (though my mother will probably try to steal them, since she's been nagging me that she wants one).
Weirdness before and after the event: My Tom-Tom / Hertz Neverlost GPS system got - kid you not! - lost. I swear, God watches out for me, because if Ilona hadn't ridden in the car with me, I'd still be driving around the hills of Tennessee, hearing Tom-Tom say such brilliant things as "Recalculating" and "Make a legal U-turn ahead" where there was no damn place to U-turn.
Friday night consisted of chatting with friends/readers at the bar for the FFF meet-and-greet, which was fabulous. Saturday, there was lunch at the bar with several people, including Allie, who I almost didn't recognize because of her new haircut. Then after the panels Saturday afternoon, there was author speed dating - what a fun time! After that, I got a chance to hang out with several great people at the New Release gathering, then there were Saturday night stories back in the hotel room with Melissa, Mark D, Jen B, Dean, Erin, Marie B, Patrice, Ilona, and Sara B. Jen did a hilarious impersonation of a would-be murdering monkey's scream, Melissa regaled us with interesting "altercations" at a former job, I don't remember WHO told the story about the microwaved carrot (but it's burned on my brain!), then Ilona told my all-time favorite tale - which involved a dead cat, a live pig, criminally high heels, a body in the river, red mud, coal dust, a bad movie, and absent ice cream.
Sunday, we woke up early, packed, and - sadly - had to leave. I heard the remaining panels and events were great, though. All in all, it was an awesome time. The only thing I'd change would be to have a day where I could just sit around and chat with people. Ah, well. Maybe next time :-).
Here are some pictures people either sent me, or I copied from other sites (since my damn camera broke - again!!).
Allie and me. Yes, I look a little pale in this, don't I?
Mark Del Franco. Oh, yeah. He looks JUST like that without his shirt on ;-)
Me and Erin, who was wearing her way cool FFF t-shirt!
This one should be called "Vampire lovers unite!" :-)
Signing with Dakota Cassidy, Marie Brennan, Dean Lorey, Melissa Marr, & me
Dean Lorey and Patrice Michelle.
