Frequently Asked Questions!
Category: Music

Hi Everyone!

I get asked alot of questions. So I thought I would answer the most common ones here!

Frequently Asked Questions!

R U single? Will you go out with me?

Yes I am single but I am here to promote my music and make fans and friends not for dating. But thanks for the invite!

Will you marry me?

Gosh this is so soon! Let's see can you cook and clean and buy me a sparkly diamond ring? Heehee! Just teasing! I am not ready to get married yet.

Do you have MSN, YAHOO, or AIM?

I don't use messengers. I don't have the time!

How old are you?

I turned 18 on the 27th of September…Wooohooo!

When is your next song coming out?

In June I recorded a lot of new songs with awesome producer Bob McGilpin. We do not have all the licensing yet. Hopefully soon. I can't wait to share the songs with you!

Do you have a CD?

Right now I have my single. "Break A Dance" and an EP CD for sale at my website. They come with lots of little goodies. And they are limited! So order yours now and support my music. Just copy and paste this link to purchase: http://www.jessicamellott.com/links.html.

Where can I buy your music?

You can download my songs at http://www.broadjam.com/jessicamellott. I have  my CD's for sale in the links section of my website. My fan pack comes with an autographed pic and more. Copy and paste this link in your browser: http://www.jessicamellott.com/links.html .  I really appreciate the support!

Can I get an autographed picture?

I wish I could send out autographed pictures to everyone that asks! But as a musician and student, I am on a budget and paper, ink, mailers and postage add up. I do have pics included in my fan packs at http://www.jessicamellott.com/links.html and if I see you in person I would be happy to sign something for you!

Are you a model?

I am only 5'2 and not tall enough to be a model. But I get asked by photographers to model a lot and I really enjoy it. I go on a photo shoot every few months. I still have some fuzzy shots on my sites that my mom took, though, that everyone seems to love!

I'm a photographer, can I take your picture?

If you are a professional photographer and live in the MA or MD area, I would be happy to look at your work. If you are a friendly guy with a camera, no (heehee).

Can you please send me private pics?

…Ummm no. And no, I do not have naked or swimsuit pictures. Nor am I willing to share naked pics in exchange for a record label deal as someone offered once.

What are you doing right now?

Right now I attend a music college. I just moved to the area and plan eventually to get a new band together here.

Will you be touring in my state?

I plan to down the road! But for now I have classes that I can't miss. So catch me gigging along the East Coast.

Can I be in your top MySpace friends?

I wish I could put everyone in my top friends. But that would mean I would have thousands of top friends! I am working on some ideas to rotate my fans in my top friends so keep checking back!

I commented you and you never commented back. Why?

I really try to comment back. But sometimes I just don't have the time.  I get hundreds of messages and comments on my different sites every day.  If you have left me a number of comments and I haven't gotten back to you, please let me know!

Can you leave me a MySpace comment with your picture?

Sure. Just stop by and ask. I will be happy to do that. Please give me time to get back to you, and if I haven't in awhile, remind me.

What can I do to support your music?

Oh so many thing!. Please add one of my banners to your page (you can find them at my http://www.jessicamellott.com website), tell your friends about me, and/or put one of my songs on your profile!  Also, join one of my fan clubs. Here are a few of them;

Myspace:

http://groups.myspace.com/jessicamellott

http://groups.myspace.com/jessicamellottfans

Yahoo Street Team:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/officialjessicamellottstreetteam/

What are you really like?

I am a fun-loving, nice person!  I really like to hang out with my family and friends, and I love relaxing.  I am also very hardworking and determined.

</I>

What do you think of me?

I am so excited to have you for a fan and friend. I really am honored!

MUAH! You all are the best!

Jessica

Graduation, Recording in Nashville & More!

Hi Everyone!

The past few months have been super busy for me! So much going on from my high school graduation, to recording with awesome producer Bob McGilpin!

I am excited to share I graduated from high school on June 4th. It was an honor to be selected to sing at my graduation. It meant so much to me. I have known some of my fellow students since preschool!

Here I am ready to head out to Graduation.

I am proud to share I graduated a Maryland Scholar for both Academics and Vocal Performance.

My senior year was busy, but fun. I was Glinda in "The Wiz". Check out a clip in my Myspace video section or on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/jessicamellott)

In addition to school, I did a number of shows including one for our troops at Walter Reed which was so much fun! Here I am with show organzier Sensei Ern.

This past school year I did a LOT of traveling: LA which I wrote a blog on...

Miami where I chased alligators in the Everglades...

and Boston where I loved the shopping, shows and dining. Here I am getting ready for lunch at Cheers!

And recently I went to Nashville! I got to see some awesome sights and be a cowgirl for a while!

But most importantly, I got to work with Bob McGilpin. Bob is a very talented producer with a lot of experience in the music industry.
We had a great time working together and developed some great pop songs! I will be sharing these with you in the weeks ahead!

Hooray for Hollywood!

Hi Everyone!

I had an awesome time in LA! Thanks so much to all my myspace friends for helping me plan my trip!

First stop was one of LA's beautiful beaches!

I got pretty wet but it was worth it!

We checked into the hotel …

Our 10th floor room was near The Comedy Club and across the street from The House of Blues. It featured a gorgeous view!

..

We changed clothes and headed out to visit Hollywood!

Walking around Hollywood is fun and I met some really interesting people.

We ate at a delicious Thai restaurant

The next day was our big tour of LA. In addition to visiting the beaches again, we saw Chinatown, Olvera Street, Beverly Hills and many other places. Our tour guide serenaded us singing karaoke tunes!

They were having a special promotion about Cranberries in the middle of town and were giving away the berries and juice.  Cranberries are tastee lil' things.

That night we ate at The Saddle Ranch…where I decided to Gidde-up and ride the bull!

The food in LA was delicious and throughout the week we enjoyed yummy meals at many restaurants including Mirabelle's, The Hard Rock Café, The House of Blues, The Bonaventure and more!

Ready for breakfast!

Here I am at Mirabelle's

The gorgeous revolving restaurant The Bonaventure features an amazing view of the city!

I had a lot of meetings in LA with many different people.

I have been taking voice lessons since I was 5. For the past 2 years, lessons have been with the incredibly talented Steven Memel over the phone! I had never met him in person. So it was awesome to finally meet and take a live lesson!

His studio is awesome!

After all those meetings a girl needs to relax!

Here I am enjoying a delicious ice tea at LA's famous Skybar at the Mondrian!

Another pic at the gorgeous Mondrian!

I enjoyed several Mocha Frappes at Starbucks. At this one my mom pretended to be paparrazi.

I love to shop!

On the boardwalk I found 2 belly dance skirts for the belly dance class I am taking (you can find anything in LA!) I also found a mini hot pink guitar to decorate my room!

Universal Studios was awesome.

The guys in the show Waterworld were so sweet to pose with me!

I vamped at the "I love Lucy" display!

I met lots of characters including King Kong

and Sponge Bob

And I took the studio tour and more!

We jammed as much as we could into our trip to LA and it was totally awesome!

So it was sad to say goodbye…

But I plan to return soon!

Here I am with Frankenstein at Universal!

So Much To Tell You!

Hi Everyone!

I had a crazy, busy summer. Many of you have asked me about it, so I am sharing some highlights here!

At the beginning of the summer I had my wisdom teeth out. Not the most fun experience but I spent most of my recovery time watching 24, talking to myspace friends and eating chocolate ice cream, YUM! So it wasnt so bad!

My big excitement was getting my drivers license!  Now my mom hasn't let me drive by myself yet, but still...

New York was awesome. My dad and I went for a few days. We visited NYU, rode by Central Park, checked out Chinatown, ate a tuna pita melt at Carnegie Deli and scored last minute seats to the Broadway show, "The Producers"...It was fantastic!

I also lucked into tickets to Kelly Clarkson's "Addicted Tour" the night before the concert!  She is awesome!

Careerwise lots has been happening. I was interviewed by a number of magazines including Pop Blitz, Portrait and Entertainment World. For more information on my interviews check out my website, www.jessicamellott.com.

Check me out in the book, "Hacking MySpace: Mods and Customizations to make MySpace Your Space".  This is for sale at Amazon and major booksellers.  My profile is featured! The author John Posposil, selected me because of the tremendous amount of song plays I have had for a new artist!

My song "Life Grabs You (And Starts To Rock) co-written with Sharon Mark and William Ashley was selected to be in the short film, "How To Be A Girl"!  This will be released soon!

There are now two fan/friends clubs for me here on myspace, so join one or both if you haven't already!  Thanks so much to Michael and Arslan, the presidents of the clubs!

                    http://groups.myspace.com/jessicamellottfans

A huge thrill for me was Susaye Greene's kindness.  Susaye painted a portrait of me called,  "Jessicas Field of Flowers". Read more about her beautiful gift at my website.

Musically I am working with a collaborator recording some new songs which I hope to have ready very soon!

Last week I got my photos taken by J. A. Bender.  I had such a great time! We shot on location at Renfew Park in PA. A beautiful place!

A big thanks to all of you who helped me select my senior picture this summer!

Summer is over and I am back to high school with a twist! In the mornings I go to my high school where I am  a senior enrolled in the AMS (Advanced Music Studies) program.  Then I take two college classes, one of which is online! It looks like a great year and I am really excited about it!

Recently, I hit 10,000 friends on myspace. I have gotten to know so many of you! Myspace has been awesome in helping me share my music with so many people. I love it and getting to know everyone!

If you know someone you think would like my music I would love you to share it!

Stop by and visit too!

Things I Love To Do!

Hi Everyone!

I am often asked what I like to do besides singing! I am passionate about singing but I love to do other things too.

I am definitely a girly girl! I love being pampered. This started at an early age.

I volunteer my time at nursing homes and community functions.  I love to help others. Here, I am helping my babydoll feel better.

My family and friends are very special to me.  I love hanging out with my friends!  I have a very close family.  Here is a picture of me with my sister...I am the one with the sunflower hair bow and the bunny. See, I told you I was shy!

I love lots of activities, like reading a good book, watching movies, and being outdoors!

Shopping is something I really enjoy!  I always look for cute clothes and shoes, and I love dressing up!

I love dancing!  It's great for the body, helps me when I perform, and is so much fun!  I learned quite a few moves watching Shakira!

Throughout the years I have taken lyrical, ballet, and jazz classes...and I love playing DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) heehee!

I took horseback riding lessons for several years and ride when I get the chance. (Yes, I wear a helmet!)

Going to the gym is fun!  It helps me keep in shape and it feels great!

I am in the Advanced Music Studies program at my high school, so half of my day is spent on music.  I take other academic classes also and I work hard! Currently, I am a MD Distinguished Scholar for both Academics and Vocals.

I participate in a number of activities at school. I am a member of the National Honor Society and many other clubs. I love acting and have been in tons of shows including ones at my high school.

On the weekends I love to go out with my family and friends to dinner, shows, concerts...whatever is going on!

I love going on vacation, and the beach is one of my favorite places. I enjoy water sports, like snorkeling and jet skiing!

There are so many things I love to do, it's hard to include them all here!

Sometimes though, it is good to just to relax and catch some zzzzz's!

Jessica Mellott

It's Showtime!

Hi everyone!

I thought I would share a little about my performance background.

I started private voice lessons when I was 5. My training began with classical music and musical theater pieces.

Over the years I have performed in many competitions, choruses and shows. At 7, I played the role of Gretl in "The Sound of Music".

It was a great introduction to the stage as there were lots of other kids in the show, fun costumes (I love clothes) and I got to sing alot!

I have performed in many musicals. My favorite was "The Secret Garden" where I played the part of Mary Lennox.  In this picture you can see the key to the garden on my necklace.

Competitions have been a major part of my singing career.  I have won awards from many organizations, singing all types of music ranging from classical to pop. I am a nominee for the "MD Distinguished Scholar Award" for vocals and recently competed, singing a classic Italian piece and a musical theater selection.

Here I am at 11 waiting to perform at a classical competition held at Goucher College. Don't ask what the thing is next to me!

One of the pop competitions I was in ...

I cut my first demo in 2005. The songs won many internet awards including Best Female Vocals, Best Lyrics and Best Dance Track!  Here is me recording!  "Remember Me" is from that session.

In 2006 I cut my second demo.

The summer of 2005, I went to Stagedoor Manor, a well know musical theater camp in New York. I had the best time and the best roommates...love you Roxy, Allie, and Tamara! It was awesome!

And I loved the show I was in, "Aida"!

This summer I am working on my first full-length CD. I plan to record a 3 song demo from it first.  I have also been offered some exciting opportunities to perform! Right now I haven't finalized my plans, but they will most definitely include singing!

xoxo,

Jessica Mellott
