Wanna hear me perform my poetry?
Current mood: proud
Category: proud Writing and Poetry

I've had crappy quality ones up for the longest time, and now! for the first time ever! I have good quality recordings. Recorded at Urban Studios.

Four are on my myspace page.

For more Jill goodness,  head on over to http://jillbinder.coffeehouse.ca. There's a nifty little jukebox thingie on the right-hand side with which you can hear them all for free.

I'd love to know what you think.

Jill the Nomad
Category: Travel and Places

I have now officially been traveling for more than half of this year. :D Were on month 8, and I havent been home for over 4 months of it.

I'm currently in the middle of a 3 week trip across Canada and then down through the States and back up again. My main stop in the US will be Austin, Texas, for this year's National Poetry Slam Championships. This year I'm there to support, not to compete. Especially support my new Salt City Slam homies. I *really* connected with them when I was in Salt Lake earlier this year.

I love traveling. Words cannot possibly express how much I love it. Don't do plane. No! Earlier this year I saw the States by train, last week saw Canada by bus, and starting tomorrow, for the next 2 weeks, will be seeing more of America by bus. I'll be doing a big V across America! (Theres gotta be a great metaphor in there. I am accepting submissions for best one. :D )

Seeing the continent by land is amazing. Sure, it's painful to be in your seat for 3 days straight. Sure, there is the fitful sleep. But the benefits of connecting with real places outweighs all of that. If you haven't done such a thing yet, do it. I urge you. There is nothing like it. Its the most wonderful thing. All the big cities, small towns, amazing people (I have so many stories of the people I've met!), and a whole lot of the unexpected.

Life is an adventure. Live it!

Breakthrough! Huge Relationship Realizations
Current mood: happy
Category: Romance and Relationships

I have figured out the difference between,

  1. wanting your partner to treat you as special and important because you don't feel it yourself and you need it to come from somewhere; and

  2. wanting your partner to treat you as special and important because you know that you are special and important, and you refuse to be treated any less.

It's taken me 30 years, but I have finally achieved the latter.

*takes a bow*

Travelling Jill
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Art and Photography

I have been hanging out in the U.S. for just over 2 months now. Mostly living in Salt Lake City with a boy, and taking trips out of there.

I have pictures of Salt Lake City (and my adventures therein), Las Vegas, Providence RI, and just posted just now, a 3 day train trip across the country.

Check out my photo travels!
