Adriann, Heather...
Current mood: sad
Through the miracle of modern technology, all of my disneyland birthday photos (save one that I uploaded immediately) have been reformatted into space. There are none left!
Needless to say, I was very upset about this and cried a bit.
Do you have lots of photos from Disneyland you can share with me?
I miss you both tons. <3

For Kerry!
Current mood: excited
Hey Kerry! Do you have Tivo?
I wish I had Tivo, because I have to choose between Jane Austen's Persuasion and the premiere of the Sarah Connor Chronicles. :(
Oh, right, the link: All the Jane Austen, just for us.
Starts tomorrow!

Were you aware of it?
Current mood: sleepy
Of course you weren't! I haven't said anything yet!
I don't usually get all romantic-like about the new year, because I never really feel much about it but relief that the holidays are over. I don't make resolutions, I don't see it as a spiritual rebirth. However, so far this year, I'm on bed rest. Which means I have nothing to do but sit and think about all the things I'd like to do the rest of the year.
I've had this bed rest thing going off and on for the last two weeks or so. I've had two rounds of steroids, and I'm busily trying to be healthy over here, which actually looks an awful lot like couch surfing. It's clear from how much I'm NOT getting done that I'm normally a little whirlwind of activity up in here. No wonder I wound up sick!
This year I hope for a little more self-awareness. :D
I've set one charitable goal for myself this year. I'm going to donate 25 knitted hats to the Oncology department at my hospital. My knitting is speedy as hell these days, so I'd like to give a little back. To that end, if anyone reading wishes to donate yarn to my cause, let me know!
In other news: Jilly's 30th birthday bash will be taking place at Disneyland this year. The happiest place on earth! Mark your calendars for March!
Also, if you have empty Jilly's Jam jars, and you can say that five times fast, you should bring them back to me at Comic Con this year. I'll refill them! Moar Jams! Part of my plans for the year includes pwning every sort of berry that grows in the state of Oregon. The variety shall be various!
Exclamation Point!
Tell me something interesting and diverting. I've already watched all of the Ultimate Coyote Ugly competition, the Dallas Cheerleader Camp show, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, and I started watching MTV today. My brain's going to leak out through my ears. Also, if anyone wants to call me on the telephone (on the telephone?) I've got one of those and I welcome the distraction.
Frank has just brought me some doritos, so I'll have to cut this short.

Anniversary, whut?
Current mood: grateful
Have we ever forgotten your birthday? Are you one of our parents, still angry from the fact that we forgot Mother's Day? Father's Day? Thanksgiving? Easter?
I hope that this will be some small comfort for everyone we know: Frank and I both forgot our own anniversary.
We didn't forget it outright, we remembered that we had one, and we remembered approximately when it was. We just didn't remember that it was approximately now. And in a strange twist on life, it was my mother that reminded us.
So, if we've ever forgotten your birthday, various celebrations, parties, holidays (and I'm certain we have, because we don't pay attention to the passing of time) (We've never forgotten Christmas, but that doesn't mean all the presents got out on time) please know that it isn't from a lack of love for you all, but more that we have our heads firmly planted in places that don't have calendars.
Mr. Francis Beaton, there is no excuse! (And we need no excuse.) But in the immortal words of Fatboy Slim: "I have to celebrate you, Baby. I have to praise you like I should." Thank you for being my rock.
we're wonderful one times one

Christmas in August!
Current mood: giddy
Okay, not really. But I'm pretty sure that this morning I've bought my own Christmas present.
Yes, Tori Amos is touring. I'm totally there. I'm sure you all expected that.
Although! This tour they're offering special VIP ticket packages which cost an arm and a leg and also two torsos! And I got one of those (through some crafty bargaining where I promised to not need to go to many cities to see her so long as we got Special Tickets at the Portland show).
So, come December 4th, I will be hanging out at the concert hall, watching the sound check, taking part in a special "just for me and a few others with a lot of money today" meet & greet, I will be receiving some sort of fancy goody bag and sitting 2nd row center stage! Whoo hoo!
You don't even have to tell me that you're all jealous. I already know you are.

Some Lettering.
Current mood: cheerful
I have recently lettered a 200+ page graphic novel. (Sorry for the slow loading.)
Feedback welcome!
To elaborate a little, I learned how to letter on the Sunday following final exams. The next day, I lettered 10 pages. By the following Monday, I'd lettered the entire book. And I'm feeling pretty good about how it turned out. :) Although it was one of those marathon type things in which I worked 15 hours a day the week between finals and graduation, so I didn't actually take a day off, after finals, like, at all.
So, anyway, from all reports, this should be available at San Diego, should the shipment arrive on time to the Oni folks. It's Narcoleptic Sunday, written by Jeremy Haun and drawn by Brian Koschak.
I did some extensive editing on this too. :)

(I mostly include this last one because I worked really hard for that clipping mask. It's not as easy to do as it seems like it should be.) Also, this single page is only a small cross section of the boobs contained in this book. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th pages here are a sequence, pages 38, 39 and 40 in the book, I believe.
So, any comments welcome! I like improving upon my skillz. I would also welcome any freelance lettering work, because I totally have student loans biting me in the ass. Just keep it in mind at SD, peoples! ;)

Honors and benefits, already at the age of 29
Current mood: sick
So, after several years of hard work, I have graduated Cum Laude from Portland State University. Hooray!
(Clicky for to see a few more pictures.)
I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself now!
Within a few days of graduation I wound up with a summer cold, which is par for the course for me when all the stress lets up, so I haven't been able to enjoy the downtime yet. I've just been napping, coughing, and playing the wii. Which I suppose is downtime, of a sort. ;) It'd be a lot more fun without the coughing.
Jim & Wendy, much love and thanks for the flowers. :) You're always so thoughtful!

Current mood: excited
But I was very excited, just the same.

I got an Adriann for my birthday!
Current mood: happy
Friday night I was whining at Frank that I really wanted to go to bed, I'd been at school all day and worked until 11. He spent a half hour convincing me to stay awake, and then all of the sudden, Adriann was in my living room hugging me!
Best surprise birthday present ever!
First, we watched the Buffy musical episode. :)
Then we had a fabulous almost-my-little-pony/western-themed birthday party in our basement on saturday night, with cake and streamers and balloons and gift bags. Awesome presents, Beverly Bugg brought me a giant hula hoop (all the way from north Portland on her bike because she is such a fucking rock star) and candles and socks and fingerless gloves and other such wonderful things.
Topics of the evening ranged from "Jesus is actually a zombie" to "That Alex Winter really needs work" and there were several impressions of Keanu Reeves delivering lines from Hamlet. A great deal of geekiness ensued.
Here are a few pictures: (Clicky to make big, of course.)

The cake didn't even make it to the taking of the picture. I couldn't help myself.

I think we're still talking zombies at this point.

I was so sad when they told me I had to give her back. :( Miss Adriann, you mean the world to me! War-dogg, you're by far the best roomie, and I give you much love. (See avatar for Warren's present.) Frank Beaton is best husband in the whole world!
