Feeling Gloomy 14/04/07
Because of Luxembourg playing (and they were genuinely awesome) the crowd was much more glam-indie than usual and so we could get away with more; someone actually asked me to play Gene and then danced onstage with her friend excitedly when I played 'Where Are They Now?' which I previously would never have attempted. Fabulous fun all told, but now I am utterly, utterly exhausted. Anyway!
(Please note that I only started writing things down a while in as I got "in the zone" to be pretentious about it, so there's a rather large gap where I played some great songs which is a shame)
Jo Cliché, 11.30ish onwards: Cliff et al's dancing and birthday stuff - New Order - True Faith JDC: Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone Lesley Gore - It's My Party
(Can't remember if there was a gap here or what; I think there must have been..)
Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark The Damned - Eloise The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
(Here lies my complete forgetting, goddammit - anyone care to fill me in?)
Gang Of Four - Damaged Goods Franz Ferdinand - Michael Interpol - PDA (OMG I think I died and went to heaven) Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love? David Bowie - Suffragette City
(JDC, then the Miserablists I think, then I don't know what)
Bis - Eurodisco (I know it's not terribly gloomy at all, but it was a) ace fun and b) got all the w@nkers who were throwing themselves round to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' off the stage) Ladytron - Seventeen White Town - Your Woman Suede - Trash Morrissey - Every Day Is Like Sunday Associates - Party Fears Two JDC - Human League - Together In Electric Dreams My Life Story - Sparkle (someone requested this!) Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime (again not the gloomiest thing ever, but there are bleak elements to it so I deemed it OK (also I really wanted to play it - It's gloomy if I SAY it's gloomy!)) Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
(JDC, who finished this section off cheerily with 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash)
Gene - Where Are They Now? Morrissey - The Last Of The Famous International Playboys Arcade Fire - Rebellion/Lies Furniture - Brilliant Mind Orange Juice - Rip It Up
(JDC til the end, during which I put on 'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore' by the Smiths and then just stood by swaying with tiredness with a grin on my face)

FEELING GLOOMY setlist 17/02/07
Keep in mind there is a sort-of playlist at this club so I didn't have the opportunity to play as much 80s indie as I'd have liked, though of course as usual it was a fantastic night :)
JO CLICHE from 9.30: XTC - Dear God (I swear to God, it was accidental) Gene - Sleep Well Tonight Scott Walker - Joanna *** DEATH STAR PREVIEW (band) *** Long Blondes - You Could Have Both James - She's A Star Blur - To The End Dubstar - Stars t.A.T.u - How Soon Is Now? Pet Shop Boys - Suburbia ABC - Tears Are Not Enough *** ROYAL TREATMENT PLANT (band) *** Cure - Why Can't I Be You? Gene - Fighting Fit Teardrop Explodes - Reward OMD - Electricity Morrissey - Suedehead Pulp - Party Hard Simple Minds - (Don't You) Forget About Me Edwyn Collins - Never Known A Girl Like You Before Morrissey - Interesting Drug Who - Substitute Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle Emptiness [Birthday announcements and 'It's My Party And I'll Cry If I Want To'] Electronic - Getting Away With It [some Carl-chosen songs that I egotistically haven't written down] REM - It's The End Of The World As We Know It [etc] Le Tigre - Deceptacon [etc] Smiths - Barbarism Begins At Home [DJing with Carl and Sean] Associates - Party Fears Two [etc] New Order - Blue Monday (a very odd short edit of it which kind of startled people a bit; I like the fact that the original (or the '88 mix) is so long that you can "get your groove on" as it were) [etc] Arcade Fire - Rebellion/Lies (this song sounds so much more amazing at 3am at maximum volume) [etc] Long Blondes - Once And Never Again [etc] Kraftwerk - The Model [etc] Lou Reed - Perfect Day

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Parties and Nightlife
Hello all (or indeed none). I am DJing at Love Your Enemies at the Push bar in Soho tomorrow evening, from 8.15 til 9.30. It would be lovely of you to make an appearance. I might play your favourite songs, you never know. The feel of the night itself and the regular DJs are aceness anyway even if you aren't around to catch my set, and it's in central London, so it would be criminal to miss! Oh go on go on go on go on go on.
