A few pictures

Allison had events in London, Ontario, Buffalo and Lily Dale NY. Lily Dale is a town full of mediums. It was founded over 100 years ago and has a very active Spiritualists community. Allison decided to bring all of the DuBois with her on this trip so our kids could experience this town. The workshop that Allison was conducting in Lily Dale was specifically for children. We arrived in a torrential downpour. There were around fifty students ranging in ages from 8 to 17 anxiously waiting. To my surprise, our middle child Fallon jumped right in with her Mom to teach the other kids what her Mom had taught her.

We also had the chance to visit Niagara Falls, close to where I was born.

DuBois is Niagra Falls J.DuBois 2008
Here we are doing the family vacation thing at the Falls.

Lily Dale friend 2008
This was a special friend we met in Lily Dale. We met quite a few cats in Lily Dale. One of the children at the workshop drew a picture of a gray tabby cat and said his name is Gordon (or maybe he spelled it Gordin, he was young). Immediately when we left the classroom a gray tabby crossed our path and I said "Gordon, is that you?" After that every time we met a cat we would say "Gordon, is that you?" I don't think this is Gordon because he is black, but what a fine looking cat to meet in a city full of mediums.

I have had a long history of birds coming around me. When I was 9 or 10 I had a wild finch peck seed right from my hand. When I first married Allison I had two ducks sit in my front yard for a day (I lived in the desert). I have had birds fly right at my head or hit my window or the side of my car. On a recent drive I saw some sort of bird of prey with it's 6ft wingspan fully extended sitting on top of a tree and just being. Here are two of my most recent visitors.

Fat Bastard 2008
This blue jay visits us frequently (because we feed him). We named him Fat Bastard due to his personality.

White winged dove J.DuBois 2008
This is a white winged dove. It lives in Arizona in the summer. Stevie Nicks sings about them and they do make a sound like "who baby who say who". I had two of them sit still enough for me to walk up and touch them.

Eleanor 2008
This of course is not a bird but a dog. Specifically this is our dog Eleanor. I just wanted to share this because she is super cute.

Best,
Joe

Soul Evidence

Hello! I've designed a show to bypass political red tape. No more law enforcement denying working the case. I've assembled the best of the best in their expertise to tear apart cold cases and when we're done gathering our findings we deliver our results to the police and the families. If you have a cold case that occurred in the US and was ruled a homicide contact us at cases@allisondubois.com. We air on Sci Fi this, year wish us well.
Misbehave!

New beginnings. What’s up?

I'm writing book 4 and I'm jazzed! 4 chapters in already. My third book Secrets of the monarch releases in paperback this September. Yeah! My books are very personal to me.
I've been striking deals and touring trying to challenge myself and those around me. I can't wait to tell you about my new show hopefully within a few weeks I can spill the gist of it.
Joe turned 40 and looks sexy as ever. I threw him an unforgettable bash at The Edge at the Sanctuary. All finger foods from 1968 and a custom CD with tunes from '68. My good buddy Charles McCormack from Crimson Salon in Tucson continues to make our festivities sooo upbeat. What a guy. He makes my hair look fiery too.
Our eldest is starting high school. Aaarrgghh! Any advice? My other babies continue to grow and amaze me.
I've started taking golf lessons something I never saw myself doing and my baby Sophia is an amazing little golfer. Joe will post pictures he promises!
Thank you to all of you for your wise words and constant support.
Medium was picked up for season 5 very cool! I'll keep you posted on my life and love to hear about yours.
Misbehave,
Allison

Summertime!

A few weeks ago I turned 40. Thank you everyone who posted birthday wishes. I enjoyed them all. Allison threw me a party. She pulled out all the stops and invited all of our friends for a great Arizona sunset at the Sanctuary resort in Paradise Valley, AZ. My daughter Sophia took video of everyone and asked them "why do you like my dad?" I could not have had a better gift than to have the people I respect the most tell me that they love me.

Yesterday we took our girls to see Kung Fu Panda. It is a really great movie. Allison's favorite quote of the movie is: "the past is history, the future is a mystery and the present is a gift. That is why it is called the "present"." In our present there were no hot dog buns or salt for the popcorn at the movie theater, really . We all have those days.

There were a number of other messages in the movie that really struck a cord for me. There was a strange wisdom and teaching. It was not perfect, but it made perfect sense.

I hope you all take some time to spend an afternoon with your loved ones. It will truly be a present.

Best,
Joe

P.S. Check out www.AllisonDuBois.com for tour dates.

We have not announced this anywhere else. We have developed some great friends on myspace so we want to announce this here first. In the next few weeks, Allison will be re-opening her waiting list to the public for personal private readings. We stopped taking readings in January 2005 due to the overwhelming response. It has taken Allison three and a half years to get through the list of 3000 applicants.

In addition, Allison has found a way to thank her fans and show appreciation. With a VIP pass to Allison's seminar you get preferred placement on her waiting list for a personal reading.

Gary Schwartz and his cronie Marcel Cairo?

Recently it has been brought to my attention that Gary Schwartz ("scientist" who use to study me) and his cronie Marcel have been bad mouthing me. First let me say that people in the spiritual field are not suppose to spew venom they are suppose to embrace their intuition and the otherside. They are claiming that law enforcement has never come forward for me which is so far from the truth. It's true that some have lied about not working with me and the media found the truth which supported that I worked with them. Fortunately I have a new show coming out that will allow me to bipass those in law enforcement that fear persecution. I'll let you know more about that when the official announcement has been made. I know Gary and Marcel will be very happy for me. By the way I've never met or heard of Marcel until I was informed that he can't get enough of me.
They also claim I exaggerated my work with law enforcement to Medium producers to get the show which is laughable. The producers approached me in the first place and the show would have just had a different tone if I didn't work with the law. The show is "based" on my life not a biography as you all know from my books. Maybe Gary should talk less and read more. I've been told Gary's mad because he was not invited to be a part of Oprah with me. Sounds like a poor sport. Maybe Gary should spend more time being a professor and less time throwing temper tantrums because I felt his lab was inadequate and left. Let's all hope that Gary and Marcel spend more time being buddies and less time connecting themselves to my name.

Megan Irwin what not to do

A badly written article was written about me by a woman named Megan Irwin. Her paper is small but a lesson can be learned from her lack of soul. I know that life can deal us a shaky hand sometimes but at the end of the day we have our family and friends. That makes us unbreakable. I'm trying to chalk it up to her young age and remember that people grow so there is hope for her. What bothered me is that she wrote information about my family that I asked her not to write because it would jeopardize my daughters' safety. She wrote it anyway.I can only hope that when she has children no one does to them what she just did to mine. "Hey, Megan when you move to Oregon and go to law school try taking an Ethics class."

Another great season of Medium!

The finale is hard to comment on because I know that people in other countries have not seen it and I would not want to spoil it. It does have a lot of twists and turns. I very much enjoyed watching the way Glenn tells a story and the actors act it out. Now we have to wait through the whole summer for the next season. Maybe I will go back and watch the first season and write comments on those.

Highlights, yes I did work at a startup company. Yes, I have patents for spacecraft components. Yes, the owners of the company got the lion's share of the profits, but I got my share to. In TV land this took 3 or 4 episodes. In my life it took about 8 years.

You would have to talk to Allison about the crime story. It was, as usual, a very disturbing concept.

I do love how Glenn Caron lets us fill in details so the horror scenes are much more terrifying. In this episode there is a drowning, from the viewpoint of the person being drown. Despite not showing anything but water splashing on the lens of the camera, it is really powerful without being graphic. I suggest you watch it until the very end because in Glenn's way he let our imagination fill in the picture for the soundtrack. This time it is not for a horror scene. There is about 10 sec of not so subtle, I can't believe they did that, soundtrack at the end. I'm not telling if it is a true story or not!

One more thing, I guess someone is reading my little blog. Brian Gallagher over at movieweb.com interviewed Jake Weber (who plays Joe DuBois) and Kelly Preston (Meghan Doyle). It is a thrill to know that Kelly Preston and her husband are fans of the show.

Having met Jake a few times it was fascinating to see his take on how he plays the character. I don't think about how to be Joe DuBois, but he spends time contemplating what it is to be in my situation. When he discusses it in an interview, I then have to take inventory of my own life from an outsider's perspective. Specifically how I see Allison's career as a medium. To me it is very much as Jake said, for Allison it is so much not a job to make money, it is much deeper and multi-dimensional. It effects her spiritually, emotionally, physically and this is all in context of the history of her life. It is all very surreal, but somehow healthy.

Jake was unaware of this blog, but Brian the interviewer was not. I will see Jake at the wrap party and maybe the interview will come up in conversation.

You can read the interview for yourself.

MediuM - Being Joey Carmichael

Thank you Glenn, you know the true Joe.

The Medium episode "Being Joey Carmichael" was kind of weird for me to watch. TV Joe learned a great lesson about himself and his wife. I re-lived learning those lessons while watching this episode. Allison is particularly good at knowing peoples intentions and knowing when something is being hidden. I have not been so aggressively approached, but given what Allison can do I don't have to be for it to affect her. Imagine going to one of Allison's book signings and having women ask me for my autograph on Allison's book!

I do like Miguel Ferrer's performance as twins. He was convincing as both cunning and devious Joey as well as sweet and kind and slightly mentally handicapped Teddy. In the end, we had to decide what was the ethical right and just punishment.

The photography involved with casting a single actor to play twins was very cool. One scene in particular was really great. Miguel handed himself a beer! In the same scene, one twin cast a shadow on the other yet they were played by the same actor. Bravo.

Best,
Joe

p.s. Next week is the season finale of Medium! We get to see what becomes of Joe's company and Meghan Doyle. There is a great preview on NBC.com in which Kelly Preston discusses the finale opening where Joe shoots her. There is a lot more great content on NBC.com including a special behind the scenes featurette by Maria Lark ("Bridgette").

Car Trouble

Firstly, contrary to popular belief I do get plenty of sleep at night. Allison gets most of her information while awake. Very seldom does she wake from a nightmare or other vivid dream. Like in the show, I sleep on the right and Allison on the left. I don't remember the writers researching that level of detail but suffice it to say they got it right. On the other hand, our phone is on Allison's side of the bed because the phone calls are usually for her. That is a matter of efficiency.

I watch the new episodes like everyone else, NBC on Monday nights with commercials and all. I have noticed that the commercials are getting a little more main stream. For a while there seemed to be a lot of sleeping aid commercials, which I personally thought was funny. I would like to see more beer commercials because I am a fan of beer although I don't drink it too often because it makes me fat. I am a fan of quality over quantity. My favorite is going to a German Restaurant and ordering an Octoberfest Bier with some sort of schnitzel or sausage.

As for the episode "Car Trouble" I can tell you some of my highlights. My favorite line is when Ariel sees the new car and says something like "is this the car I'll be driving when I'm 16?" Allison and I turned to each other and laughed because it is so true to our daughter's personality (She is turning 14 in 6 weeks).

Allison does get "feelings" for places and objects and most definitely people. My favorite memory about Allison and buying a car is not a bad feeling but a good one. Allison and I were driving to go to lunch and she said, lets go look at cars. I said "are we looking or buying?" She just smiled.

We had wanted to get a used car to save on the depreciation, but we did not want one more than 3 years old. When we got to the dealership the just pulled out a used car that was the right make, model and color and looked great. It had only 20 K miles on it so it was just what we were looking for. It turned out to be 7 years old. It was my lucky day! There were other customers waiting to see if our credit fell through because they wanted the car.

I do like that they show TV Joe working at a startup company and inventing things. I started my career at a start up. I was the 5th employee and when I left there were 300 plus. I have also invented many things, some have even been patented. They are always a little vague on the invention, something to do with solar cells. It does look a lot like something that we used on one of the satellites I worked on. I did not invent a solar array concentrator, but I know the guys that did http://www.aec-able.com/arrays/cellsave.html

Best,
Joe
