My mother died this week. I am back in the Midwest attending to all the details. My father is wrecked. They were married for 50 years. I will stay on for a while to help him through this difficult time.
I was SO close to my mom. I will miss here more than words can say. She was an angel on earth, a woman who had so much love in her heart for every living thing.
Amidst the flurry of relatives and her friends I have been almost in a different timespace. Like slow motion while everything else speeds by.
I talk to her in my mind.

Apparently, the name "Los Angeles" is an abbreviated version of "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de Porciúncula", roughly translated as:

"The Gaping Maw Feeding Upon Lost Souls and Giving Birth to Broken Dreams."
