Alright kids, please buy this record. It's the first full-length record I've ever produced/engineered/mixed. I'm really proud of this endeavor, and more importantly, Intronaut's an amazing band, and this is an incredible album.
It will be released on September 16th through Century Media Records (www.centurymedia.com), and it's already available for pre-order on their site.
And right now, it's on sale! It's only $8.50 for the full-length record or you can get it with a sweet t-shirt for $13.60.
Please pick it up, if you get the chance. It's a great record, and to be honest, I would love to see it do well, sales-wise, as well.

there's been a lot of hype about this record. mega-producer rick rubin was at the helm for this record, and it's been touted as "the return of classic metallica" or something to that effect. and even though metallica hasn't put out an album that i've liked in about fifteen years (twenty years, depending on how you feel about the black album), i had kind of gotten my hopes up about it.
you see, i loved metallica in high school. they were my favorite band. i was in the fan club, went to see them every time they came to nashville. i bought load and re-load the day they came out. i got the uber-bland orchestral live album s&m. i even bought garage, inc.
i gave up when it came to st. anger (worst snare sound, ever), especially after seeing what the recording process consisted of in some kind of monster. all of those album blow. they've since been sold to amoeba so i could spend the money on albums where the bands actually give a shit about the music they're making. metallica's just milking the name as far as i can tell.
but rick rubin's done some great work. the man produced slayer's seasons in the abyss and south of heaven. he was at the helm for the first four danzig records! and in the last ten years, while he's made some really dull albums with bands i like (slipknot, the chili peppers, etc), he seems to excel and resurrecting the careers of older artists.
i'm a huge fan of his work with johnny cash, and the neil diamond record he did (last year-ish, right?) sounds exactly like what classic neil diamond sounded like. so i had hopes that he'd wander in to the metallica sessions, stroke his beard, and set them to the task of writing another classic album because god knows bob rock sure wasn't going to do it.
well, the new song's out now, and despite everything i've heard from people who have heard tracks from the album, i'm convinced it's going to be another let-down. after hearing the track for myself, i kind of imagine the recording session for it going something like this:
rick rubin: "hey, you just paid me over half a million dollars to make the quintessential metallica album so this is what i've got so far...
umm... just kind of re-write 'fade to black,' and then, how about you modify that opening riff from 'orion?' sounds good, right? okay, then we'll follow it with the run from the end of the bridge in 'master of puppets' into something kind of like the bridge/solo in 'one.'
yeah... yeah! and then kirk, i want to you to write some half-assed jerk-off solo that'll end with lars doing a snare roll! yeah! this is awesome!
and to top it off, james, sing like you did on the 'load' records 'cause that's what the fans want!
and let's take a year and a half to do this!
fuck yes! congrats boys, you are officially back! now have a runner get me thirty pounds of tofu and a yoga mat! are the chili peppers ready to do another bland album yet?"
and scene.
