Wipe the slate clean if that's what you feel you need to do. Quit drugs. Finish the argument. Be fearless. Be patient. Eat more av0cados or cherry tomat0es. Love the land you live near. Go hiking. Play with babies. Kiss your mom. Hug your dad. Call people far away. Appreciate your neighbor. Visit another country. Play more music. Learn a new instrument. Start sentences with "ya know what I love?" instead of "ya know what I hate?".
Do things passionately but with compassion for others. Be decisive in action. End old habits that keep you up at night. Look at what you have instead of what you want. Life is in you to be lived, given to others and nurtured. Ride a skateboard. Quit being so precious with time. Throw away old things you've kept for too long. Talk to the living. Commune with nature. Seek connection. Communicate. As always be loud and be proud!
Oh.... And make sure you see the Licks LIVE or buy the DVD now ;) - Join the adventure of "the best little Rock'n Roll band that could." X0
Looks like we made it people. To the finish line, through the snow and rain, fevers and colds and packed clubs, curious clubs, wildly frenzied clubs, all the unknown and finally home. We of course could not have done this tour without all of you who cheered us on, showed up, told your friends, bought our shirts, cds, dvd, and generally gave us the best time of our lives!
This was the first of many US tours. And is the closing to a most memorable year of nonstop touring. We traveled the world and back. It felt good to come home. Thank you to LA and San Diego you were so surprising and wild! I'm glad you did not let us down. Those were the best west coast shows we've ever had. Thank you THANK YOU to everyone. We will definetely not leave you hanging for too long without The Licks rock.
We will record some exclusive tracks over Jan. They will be pretty damn surprising I'm sure. Then we will most likely hit the road again in Feb so be on the look out for us. We will keep you informed. For now I wanna give a big shout to some of the places I haven't mentioned that totally blew our minds: New York, Brooklyn! Toronto! Detroit! Boston! Denver! Vancouver! Chicago! Eugene OR! Portland! Minneapolis! San Diego! LA! This Licks audience is the best, the most diverse and wildly love filled. But maybe I'm biased : )
Oh and thank you for all the inventive gifts ie; scarves, feathered earings, care bears, paintings etc. I treasure them!!!!!! Also we are going to be selling more merch and our new DVD on line. We will keep you posted about that! Have a great holiday. Be good to your families, make sure to laugh. And a happy healthy new year!
Brazil Brazil Brazil! It was everything people say it is. We played 2 amazing shows, the first in Rio which had such an amazing energy I was totally blown away by the Licks Love from the crowd. It already was a special occasion considering Brazil was one of the first places I'd always hoped to go since starting the band. And there we were 4 years later. We made it. I felt like it was a real milestone for us. We've circled the globe and will continue to do so. San Paulo was a bigger audience possibly 30 thousand. I did my best to reach everyone. And the added fun came later when we sang songs with the Killers in their dressing room before their show. They had to go on at 4am! A first for them. So we wanted to show them lots of support. None of us slept until we got on the plane later that morning!
So back in the states! Our Halloween show in Orlando was a blast. We'd been on the bus for days and had no real time to find costumes so we came up with some last minute (check out the pics, I think Womack is a member of NWA). I loved seeing all the inventive costumes in the audience. It felt like a kind of surreal high school party! Must do it again. OH I forgot to mention how super fantastic and special our Austin show was! I didn't know what to expect but it was sold out at Stubbs to a super wild loving Austin crowd wich was excellent since Ed's family (our Drummer) was there! He's from Texas and we wanted to make them proud. Chapel Hill NC was a real surprise. Totally packed to the gills with sticky Licks Love! And thank you to Local 506 for not kicking us out well past closing time. X0
Phoenix with the Donnas and Donita Sparks new band was excellent. Also Tucson our first show out of the gate was totally raging. Such a wild bunch. We're having a great time discovering all the folks who've been hungry for our little rock n roll show. Its a great feeling playing the US again. I must say we have a great line up that's totally smokin. Hand picked! which is rare that you get to see 3 good bands, with all their own individual energy and POW in one night! So I highly recommend people coming to the shows early to catch Suffrajett first then Scissors For Lefty. Make a whole night of it!
Licks, Suffrajett, Scissors For Lefty
We still have a month to go! NYC, Chicago, Canada and Vegas coming. And all your feed back (Myspace comments, messages) is so necessary and appreciated!! Thank you thank you. We're trying to keep it alive and fresh all the time and all your faces and the new places have become home. But it is a ruff road at times. So long live the energy, the hunger, the spirit and the search. Take care of yourselves. Put on your party shoes and come see the Licks LIVE before we go into hibernation to make some more magic! New music coming soooooon... And check out Suffrajett and Scissors For Lefty. Oh PS we will have a live DVD made solely for Licks Lovers for sale at shows in a week. You're gonna loooove it! Also I added a new hoodie to our merch for winter. Yeehaw.

Morning Opening Acts Scores Perfect Review

If two words could describe Juliette's performance in front of Juliette and the Licks, they would be "Holy Shit." The actress now rock star had an energy that is rarely rivaled these days, and with the 90 degree humidity soaked weather, the level to which she rocked out was astounding. Her music is purely hard core rock n' roll. Spending most of the last four years touring Europe, Lollapalooza 2007 was the band's first big American performance. Taking the stage with a drama all of her own, Juliette screamed, shouted, and sang with abandon. They went through several of their own songs and then covered Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" in a way no one else could. Juliette's light colored eyes savagely shone through her sweat soaked hair and pink makeup as she sang directly to the crowd, which was pretty substantial for an 11:30 a.m. show.
Drum sticks came flying off the stage into the audience, and at the end of the show, so did Juliette. She jumped into the audience and body surfed her way toward the big screen and somehow managed to stand straight up in the air in the hands of her fans.
Anyone who likes hard core rock n'roll has to check out Juliette and the Licks. Hands down they were my personal favorite at Lollapalooza 2007 – and hands down, they deserved a much later set time in order for maximum exposure, because if Lolla fans like me had the chance to hear this wild child, chances are they would have been hooked immediately.
We had to disable HTML comments on the page because the Spam ads and hackers are out of control! But were starting to keep a MySpace photo album of Licks lovers and friends and their pictures and artwork, anything Licks inspired which you'd like to share, drawings, gig photos, band etc. Either post here or message them to us with the headline "YOUR PHOTOS". Include your name so we can credit you, Love *The Licks PS we'll try to include all but don't be mad if we can't ;) also you might score more points if you don't only submit pics with the singer ;)
