Kaiaphas interview + track in Synthetics Magazine - out now!

About a week ago, the issue 76 of Synthetics Magazine (Germany) came out, with our interview and the track, "Vile Vermin".

This track is dedicated to the memory of Mauricio Mangia (r.i.p.), the founder of the annual Thorns Gothic Rave parties. He was a central figure in the Brazillian gothic scene. Sadly, Mauricio was brutally killed in an attempted robbery in 2006. "Vile Vermin" is an angry song that talks about what happened to our friend and displays a strong disgust towards the lowlifes of the guettos who rob and kill innocent people.

The magazine is on sale already. There should be a trailer with the compilation previews at their myspace page.

The fake Lord Kaiaphas

Apparently, there's an imposter in Virginia (U.S.A) who claims to be the Lord Kaiaphas. He has been pretending to be me for the past 4 years or more.

This imposter even convinced his wife, Rhiannon, that he is the Lord Kaiaphas. So much so, that she had pictures of me in her myspace profile as if I were her husband. I've been informed, that this imposter is not a musician and is of dutch origin.

Incredibly, this imposter even has a small following of believers here in America. He has also been making posts as the Lord Kaiaphas in some yahoo 360 group/maillist called "new_satanic_age " for quite a while.

My friends from Ancient and I are taking care of this situation. Hopefully, it will soon be resolved, otherwise we will have to take legal action, since this false information and the impression this couple was giving to people is harming the band Ancient, as well as my personal life and reputation.

Kaiaphas featured in Synthetics Magazine, Germany, this month

Our interview with Orkus mag

Orkus: Please give us an overview from your band! (when was the band founded and so on)

Kaiaphas: Several of years before starting KAIAPHAS, I was the singer for the Norwegian black metal band ,ANCIENT.
With this band, I recorded 2 full length cds (released thru Metal Blade records), 3 videos, and performed in 2 extensive European tours wwith very famous metal bands such as Dark Funeral(Sweden) and Behemoth(Poland).

In 2003 I started KAIAPHAS with my friend, Victor Salles in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Soon after that we acquired a female singer, t.a.t.i., and played a handful of shows at gothic parties in Sao Paulo, Curitiba, and Rio de Janeiro.
Then in the beginning of this year, victor and t.a.t.i left and I hired Lady Omega from Russia as the new female singer. Lady Omega had already written some lyrics for the band prior to her joining. A year before I met her, Lady Omega had sung on one of the songs from ANCIENT's "Night Visit" cd released in 2004. Coincidently, I also made a guest appearance on that album.
Some months after that we got a guitar player ,Lienhard.
Our biggest show so far was in sao Paulo at the annual Thorns Gothic Rave, playing alongside CLAN OF XYMOX in may 2006.


Orkus: What means the name of the band?

Kaiaphas: Kaiaphas was the high priest from biblical times who demanded the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
In the band, ANCIENT, I used the name Lord Kaiaphas.


Orkus: Please describe your music and tell us about the new Album.

Kaiaphas: our music is nu-ebm /futurepop/dark electro with elements of various electronic styles like techno,trance,noise, idm
and electro. We use both male and female vocals . Sometimes the vocals are harsh and sometimes they are clean. We also like to use lots of effects on the vocals.
We're currently working on material for our debut album which should be ready sometime next year.
Last year, we released an underground demo cd with a very limited number of copies.
Right now we just have a promo cd that we send out to dj's, magazines, and radio shows.


Orkus: Have their a special inspiration for the creation from new songs?

Kaiaphas: We're inspired by several different genres of electronic music so we always have lots of interesting ideas for new songs….we're making slow songs with clean vocals as well as very fast and distorted songs with harsh vocals. We also like to use samples from movies and so forth..


Orkus: Do you have musical paragons?

Kaiaphas: Lady Omega really likes Sopor Aeternus very much. I like a lot of psy trance as well as ebm, futurepop, electro, old industrial and some rock/metal stuff.
Lienhard also likes a large variety of music.


Orkus: What are your plans for the future? (have you plan a tour?)

Kaiaphas: we're planning to move somewhere in Europe at some point. It's still too soon to plan a tour because first we need to complete the material for our debut album and sign with a good label that will give us lots of support.

Vile Vermin

Our track,"Vile Vermin", is dedicated to our friend, Mauricio, who was killed in a robbery attempt in Sao Paulo (Brazil). apparently, he reacted and was shot in the head by a couple of lowlife bastards.
Mauricio was the party organizer of the biggest gothic event of Brazil,the annual
THORNS gothic rave and halloween parties.
He was a very cool guy who always supported us and booked us to play at his parties.
His death was a tragic loss to the brazillian gothic scene.
We all miss him very much.
