Two Poems
Current mood: calm
Category: Writing and Poetry

Sofa Imprints

Sitting on a sofa,
With a floral design
The sort of sofa
That leaves imprints in your flesh
Hours after you stand.

I can still see those imprints now,
Lingering softly on your back,
Deepening their shade
As my tongue tries in vain to smooth them.

Steam

Water boils,
Churning in chaotic design,
Feelings rise -
Vapor caressing the air,
Struggling to reach sky.
It intertwines at last with peace
And disappears on its way.

"An Hour To Kill"
Current mood: content
Category: Writing and Poetry

Boredom and inspiration at the Yacht Club prompted me to write the following:

An hour to kill,
One without thrill;
My glass to fill,
Vacant and chill.
Wait here until
The fresh turns to dill;
The cards will we deal,
The table shall spill
Silently down the hill,
Spoiling the rabbit's meal..
With still an hour to kill.

*shrugs* It's meaningless really, but still fun.

More Blogging..
Current mood: anxious
Category: Writing and Poetry

I finally started a blogger account: Bittersweet Charm. Feel free to check it out. I have posted there most of my work, aside from my short stories, which I eventually plan to add as well.

"Everything Unlimited"

Limitless earth and limitless sky,
Limitless tears of ocean to cry
Limitless dreams are ripped at the seams
And hope is scattered,
However unshattered.

Limitless wings and limitless eyes,
Limitless nets to plaster the skies
Limitless tries to catch all that flies
Hope is misplaced,
But rarely erased.

"See Me"
Current mood: optimistic
Category: Writing and Poetry

Transfixed on a part -
Not my heart -
Your eyes there linger..
I hold forth a finger,
Which you can't see.

View instead the whole,
My eyes, my ears, my soul,
Or it's me you'll miss.
If ever again we kiss,
Close your eyes,
And see
Me.

Thoughts on my Writing
Current mood: sleepy
Category: Writing and Poetry

As you've probably noticed, I am doing my best to start writing here more often. I had gotten out of the habit, and I missed it. I write solely for myself, as it helps me sort out my thoughts. I write what I am inspired to write - I adhere not to rules. Often I am unsure whether I'm writing a poem or song lyric, but really, I don't think it matters. I believe verse should flow from the soul, words experimented with and felt. Originality is my only goal.

That being said, here's a dark and simple piece I wrote in the shower this morning:

Sacrificial Stone

She stands there,
Stripped and bare
At the sacrificial stone.
At the trumpet's tone,
She will slice you to the bone,
And leave you there,
Stripped and bare
On the sacrificial stone.

"Glitter"
Current mood: calm
Category: Writing and Poetry

You told me that my name was all that mattered,
Although my clothes were lame and more than tattered,
You brought me here and then my dreams you shattered.

Forgive me if I sound a wee bit bitter,
My eyes are wet, my mind's a-flitter
Console me now; adorn me once again with glitter.

Pointless, But Still..
Current mood: moody
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

I don't really care about the following, but I think it's worth asking:
Why in the name of all that is delicious is everyone so worked up over the "topless" Vanity Fair photo of Miley Cyrus!? There's absoultuely nothing risque about it, in fact I quite like it. It's classy and reminds me of a Bouguereau painting:

I guess people have forgotten what true skankiness is; see Britney Spears aged 15 (Miley's age now):

Or it's possible people have wised up and are now too quick to judge, because they have seen the after effects of such over-sexed starlets? *shrugs* At any rate, I think the uproar is unwarranted.. Although I will concede that this picture is slightly eye-raising:

Maybe it's just me, but I'd feel a bit strange posing with my father like that..

*end thoughts

Words of Mine
Current mood: pensive
Category: Writing and Poetry

I wrote this poem the other day and thought I'd share:

She floats along, alone
No major impact causes she
Her mind is open, never vacant
Her heart is closed, reserved
Teach her again to trust, to want, to live
Vigilance means nothing without endeavor.

And just now, thanks to google image search, I was inspired to write a portion of song:

The sea evaporates to steam
Travelling towards the stars
Waves roll back - low tide
And the land is dry

Lend your eyes to earth
Vapors of woe
Form drops of sea and fall..
Turn the sand into clay, into clay
Turn the sand into clay

Hello Muse
Current mood: creative
Category: Writing and Poetry

Despite all my complaints (and I knock on wood as I say this.. minds out of the gutter, please), central Texas actually seems to be experiencing spring this year. Today's weather was lovely, though perhaps a bit windy, and tonight is certainly chill enough for a sweater of some sort. Last week bestowed me a thunder storm, complete with rain and lighting. I sat outside until it was over, basking in the wonder that is nature. It's a shame the footage I took ended up a failed attempt.

Speaking of, I have recently taken up video editing. Nothing major, as I'm using Windows Movie Maker and a 60-dollar camera (which would be the cause of my 'failed attempt'), both of which I hope to abandon for better media.. eventually. It doesn't pay to be near-destitute.. then again, I suppose if it *did* pay, I wouldn't be destitute.. Point being, my sister has finally opted to share her sense of humour with the world via youtube, hence the video-editing. Check this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/Bubbinsmysunshine

In other irrelevant news, I am experiencing errors while attempting to edit my previous blog posts. However, I expect the issue to correct itself, for myspace isn't exactly the most reliable site on the web*, and Tom is always tweaking something or other, thus causing temporary glitches, especially when one is online at four o'clock in the morning.

And since I haven't shared much of my writing lately, I'll now compose an impromptu poem, just for the hell of it:

O friend, o foe,
O source of my woe:
Be it within thee I reside,
Such by thy rules I must abide

Quiet be my apprehension
But 'tis not escaped my comprehension:

Thine proficiency and fame
Do shame the child's game
Thou art no longer painter nor frame
Nor solace for fit nor for lame

'Tis thee I truly must blame,
Though surely my tongue shall thee tame,
As of late,
Art thou not more sinner than saint?

Not my best work, but not my worst either.
Until next time!

*web site: funny how that no longer refers to the place a spider chooses to spin its home, if ever it did.
