HEY YOU!
gimme some money and tell everyone else to, too-in other words FORWARD THIS to anyone. Pay attention, writers. There are some way cool prizes for you in here. Here's the note I'm sending out to everyone. The Unleash Your Story challenge starts September 1. Our lead writer, Debbie Macomber, says she's going to write 30K this month. See if you can keep up with Macomber--sign up at http://www.unleashyourstory.com
If you take part in the fundraiser portion of the challenge, you'll get a chance to win some great prizes, like an Alphasmart or six free months at the writer community Noveltalk.com. Other prizes include crits with agents such as Holly Root and Jessica Faust or Dorchester editor Leah Hultenschmidt. There's a long list of prizes donated by individuals and by CFF at the unleashed site.
Special Challenge to all RWA Chapters participating in the fund-raising challenge: Win a complete set of MP3 audio files from the 2008 RWA National Conference. Unleash Your Story: Make a Difference challenges readers and writers to raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease in the U.S. Thirty years ago life expectancy for a child born with CF was only five years, but through the efforts of the CFF and others, life expectancy and quality of life has increased dramatically. Unleash Your Story aims to help the CFF continue these efforts and to someday soon find a cure! Participants can work as a team or individually for chances to win fun prizes. We are also offering a special prize to RWA Chapters with participating members. The chapter with members who raise the most money by September 30 will receive a complete set of MP3 audio files from the 2008 RWA National Conference for your chapter library. All you have to do to be eligible for the prize is to pass the word on to your chapter members and ask them to let us know that they are members of your chapter. All participants will still be eligible for individual prizes, but their total donations will also be credited toward the chapter for this special prize. We will need to calculate the chapter total manually, so be sure that all of your members e-mail us at info@unleashyourstory.com to let us know their chapter affiliation.
We recognize that many RWA members belong to multiple chapters. We ask all participants to select one chapter for purposes of this specialchapter challenge. The event will run September 1-30, but registration has already begun. For more information email info@unleashyourstory.com or visit http://www.unleashyourstory.com If you're still reading this and don't want to go through all the trouble of forming a team or doing this on your own, I have a team set up and ready to go. Visit Kate's Unleash Your Story Home Page at http://www.cff.org/LWC/KateRothwell! NOTE: If link looks broken, cut and paste ENTIRE link into address bar. If you are presented with a "Find A Fund-raiser" page, enter Kate's first and last name.
If you want to set up your own team or donate as an individual, here's the direct link to the event at CFF

Current mood: amused
Hey all of the sudden I have so many new friends? how'd that happen? was it those eppies? Finalling in the eppies is a bigger deal than I supposed only because of the emails I've been getting. Lots and lots and lots of emails. That's why I suspect you found me through Epic. Heck, I don't care why, just hello!
Hi you guys!
I'd offer you something to drink but I suspect there's something wrong with the apple cider. Nothing good, either. But if it's virtual, heck, the Krug, Clos du Mesnil 1995 is on me.
Ok, off to change the many many mistakes in the latest manuscript. So very many many many. . . .

I stole Bam’s contest
Current mood: cold
Category: Writing and Poetry
I love contests, particularly when they're just for the fun of it. Somehow running them in conjunction with promo doesn't feel right. Doesn't stop me, but I like this "contest for the heck of it" better.
I'm running this one at my real blog (the one I know how to use). Go look: The blog and the fun writing contest. Link to the contest and its rules should be on the upper right of the blog. Let me know if you can't find it.
My favorite contests are the "write the back blurb" but this one is fun, too.
You can win $20 and a fabulous Winner Button.
No, Flo Fitzpatrick, goober, the secret is NOT how to daily eat donuts and drink pumpkin lattes and lose 30 lbs

Knight’s Challenge out today in ebook form
Category: Writing and Poetry
here's a link: http://samhainpublishing.com/books/knights-challenge I'm pretty sure it'll eventually be out in print in a Samhain anthology. There are five I Dream of Dragon stories out today.
I like this particular book--it was fun to write and I get a kick out of the hero. I seem to have developed a fondness for powerful, slightly conceited heros. They're my version of the alpha-dude. Yikes!
Okay back to work. I'm wrestling with three finished novels that didn't come easily and contain recalcitrant characters or baffling plots. I've made an oath to the writing gods: no more new fun writing until these things get sent out to publishers or dumped entirely. Or until I come up with an idea so strong, I can't avoid it. (Yoo hoo? Writing gods? I'm ready for that lightning strike to take place any minute, thanks.)
Heh. I think I'll pretend I'm reading myself even though I'm not.

Cohen, Fitzpatrick, Dee and Preece
Current mood: satisfied
Hey so go look at romance writer and veru funny person, Julie Cohen.
I'm doing Thursday Thirteen authors and Julie's the latest featured writer.
Over the past few Thursdays, I've also nabbed Bonnie Dee, Flo Fitzpatrick and Rob Preece. (About time I started supporting my fellow rioters... And since they do the writing, it's pie for me)

HEY ENTER MY CONTESTS, please..Win up to $60 worth of Certificates
Official Have I Got A Deal For You
THERE ARE TWO CONTESTS! Both end JUNE 19, the day Revealing Skills comes out in print. For CONTEST ONE, you don't need a website or blog. You can just email me or post a comment. (although if you do have a blog or website and you did post the review, I'd be grateful. Unless, of course, you compare the book unfavorably to horse manure) For CONTEST TWO, you need a website or blog. (This is a change because, as someone pointed out, anything else is too spammy) CONTEST ONE: Review a book and be put in a drawing to win a thirty dollar gift certificate from Barnes and Noble, Amazon or Samhain, your choice.
Here's how it works: I'll send you any one of my books. See the list below. You then write a review and put it in your blog or somewhere online. If you don't have a website, you can post the review in my blog under comments or email it to me. (my email address is on the right side of the page under OTHER PAGES WHERE YOU'LL FIND ME) You hate the book, well, I'll survive. And you'll be put in a pool to win a gift certificate ($30) at Barnes and Noble or Amazon. The only book not included in this offer is Taming Him.CONTEST TWO: Announce this contest--along with a link to my regular blog--on your blog or website, alert me and show me the link, and I'll put you in a drawing for everyone's favorite, a THIRTY DOLLAR! gift certificate for Barnes and Noble, Amazon, OR Samhain, your choice. Don't forget to give me an email address/snail mail address for CONTEST ONE and/or a link for CONTEST TWO That's not so complex, right? And for the first one, you also get a free book by me! To reiterate (literally "repeat in another color"): 1. Get a free book by Kate and or Summer and write and post something about it ("I loved/hated this book by Kate and/or Summer. You should/shouldn't buy it and read it because_____. Don't ask me to send my copy, because this one happens to be an ebook and we don't share our ebooks.")
Be put in a drawing pool for a THIRTY DOLLAR GIFT CERTICATE. You have to write something that indicates you at least looked at the thing, for heaven's sake. Also I reserve the right to lift really good comments from your great reviews and the right to use author calming visualizations if you post how and why you loathed the book. Either way you'll be entered in the contest--and the winner is picked by random drawing.
AND/OR
2. Post this offer on your site or blog Send me a link to your post and be put into yet another drawing pool for another THIRTY DOLLAR GIFT CERTIFICATE.
Do both and be put in both pools.
Here're the books you can review--I've linked to descriptions of the titles: by Kate Rothwell (both are print books) Somebody Wonderful Somebody to Love Books by Summer DevonOnly ebooks, although I do have one meh paper copy of Learning Charity. Revealing Skills will be out in print--but the book is released the day the contest ends so...um, no, only ebooks unless you pick up a copy of Taming Him or, maybe, if you beg me prettily, I'll send you Taming Him. But you must be eloquent.
at Ellora's Cave:Perfection Futurelove Invisible Touch at Samhain: Learning Charity Revealing Skills And here's one more by Kate,a rather peculiar ebook That's here, at booksforabuck, a great place, btw. Go Rob! Have I left out any details? Let me know. And don't forget to LET ME KNOW (and give me the appropriate information) if you're entering!

hello, it's me so it must be promol time--or else
It's either promo or messing with the settings. Today, it's mess with settings to avoid work. I think I made myself 98 years old here at MySpace. I am actually FORTY SEVEN. and I don't have a problem with that--although I've had enough birthdays to be sick of that old rejoinder about "better than the alternative." It's not a source of major discomfort.
Except, thing is, I'm just not used to being FORTY SEVEN. Every time I show up here there it is, off on the left, KATE IS FORTY SEVEN. Last time I paid attention, I was not in my late forties. I was somewhere nearing forty or so.
Nowadays, I add a year or subtract a decade, not on purpose. It's like parking the car at a mall. You sort of remember where the thing is, but not exactly which row. And sometimes you go out the Macy's side when you parked over at the Sears.
If I'm going to have to adjust to an age, I'd like to adjust to 98, thanks.
Damn, the age thing is almost as dull as my Wii score. How about promo? You can go vote for Summer Devon here. I'm not exactly sure who's behind the voting or the site, but heck! It's there and so am I! Vote.

Somebody Wonderful again.
Hola! Now it'll be in Spanish too. I hope I get a copy of that.
The unexpected money went straight into the fund for vacation and we're up to about three days this summer. From thinking we were going to be trapped like rats all summer to a more-than-over-night trip. Oh boy! Vermont? Maine? I'll take the local Holiday Inn as long as there's a pool.
Oooo and room service. Don't care if the food's cold or rotten if I don't have to cook it or wait at a table with impatient boys (although they're hardly horrendous any more) It Is Perfect Food.

nothing much
Man, I'm spoiled. I didn't get an ecataromance nomination this year and thought, hey? There must be a mistake. Not hissy fit, mind you, it's just that I'm used to being nominated. Princess.
Shannon Stacey got one and that's the only book I read in the group. It deserved it.
huh. . . um.
Hey, is there a prize for most boring blog? Watch out! I'm there.
Next up: a discussion of my Wii scores.

Somebody Wonderful In Italian
Yay! It's going to be in Italian. If anyone spots a copy online or in the papery flesh, I'll send you a copy of any book I own (and I mean any book, not just my own) except not my King's Guide to New York. Sorry, you can come visit me and look at it if you want it so bad.

and yet another book
Current mood: chipper
Another new book out--this one is an anthology. An actual print book. Summer's first in print!
I had a great contest at my real blog (great as in it gave me fun stuff to read) all about the cover of this book. It's such a "HEY LOOKIE" cover, I get a major kick out of it.
My first two print book(s) had perfectly nice covers. But they would have fit:
an inspirational a guide to The Perfect Wedding (1st one especially) a romance, contemporary a romance, historical (that's what it was) a travel guide a How To Live the Good Life Primer a book about dealing with the death of a loved one (2nd particularly) a serious literary novel a book about turn-of-the-century [name of city]
This latest book? Heh. I'll post the cover here. . .No mistaking that baby for anything but hot. (there's romance, too, though)
