Your right to choose threatened
Current mood: determined
We have to be our own advocates!!! Educate yourself, knowledge is the best weapon (a loud, convicted, intellegent and rational voice is a very close second!). Make no mistake, our reorpductive rights are under attack right now in the Supreme Court and if the President has his way and Alito is appointed, the threat will become dire!
-From NARAL: An anti-choice White House, Congress and closely divided Supreme Court mean only one thing: pro-choice Americans must stand up and speak out today to protect the right to privacy and right to choose. Worse still, the recent vacancies on the Supreme Court have emboldened the right wing. The far right knows that this is their chance – if they can shift the balance on the Supreme Court now, they’ll achieve their 30-year goal of overturning Roe v. Wade. They will bring everything they have to this confirmation fight – and we need to match them every step of the way. Here's how you can get started today:
Step 1: Stand up for what you believe in. Sign the "We Are Pro-Choice America" petition (and sign up for the Choice Action Network while you're there).
Step 2: Speak out for privacy and a woman's right to choose. Tell your friends. Tell your colleagues. Tell your family. Start talking about the right to choose. We've made it easy - just click here.
Step 3: Keep going. What else can you do? Take a look at the list below - there are lots of ways for you to get involved!
Contact Congress and the Bush administration in support of policies that would improve access to birth control - and help us stop anti-choice bills. Click here to learn more. Contribute to our work! With your support, we can mobilize pro-choice Americans with forums, town hall meetings, and radio and television ads. Click here to give. Get involved locally with the NARAL Pro-Choice America affiliate in your state. Support women's access to birth control through our campaign to ensure that pharmacies fill all prescriptions for birth control. Click here to find out more. Speak out! Get the latest news and see what fellow pro-choice supporters are up to on the Bush v. Choice blog. Share your personal story. It’s not easy for anyone. But nothing’s more important than reminding politicians that this is all about our lives. Learn how your state rates on reproductive rights. Find out whether your state is restricting access to health care. Find out how your members of Congress voted in 2004. Have an idea of how you'd like to help? E-mail us. www.prochoiceamerica.org www.plannedparenthood.org www.naral.org/
