Anniversary!

On May 1st, Gabe and I will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. I married Gabe when I was 21, so I have been married to him for over half of my life.

We met in college and got married at the college lake. I heard his voice in my dreams before I met him--but I could never see his face in those dreams. One day in a hallway I heard that voice--turned and saw that face--and my fate was sealed.

First we we classmates, next best friends, and then somehow we became a couple. It happened so naturally that it caught us both off guard. We met in the fall of 1981 and married in the spring of 1984.

We were blessed with Zach in 1986 and with Allie in 1987. We have lived in Kansas, Arizona, and Oklahoma as a family. We are bonded for life.

Gabe and I have been finishing each other’s sentences for years. We know each other as well as we know ourselves. It’s an amazing relationship--sometimes good, sometimes bad--always amazing.

After 24 years together, it is impossible for either of us to imagine life without the other. It would be like being half of what we are now because we really are two made one.

Another Semester

It's the beginning of a new semester and I'm ready to get it going. I have new students to meet and former students to see again. That's exciting. On Thursday I got my 15 year award from Redlands. Man! 15 years! I moved around my whole life and this is the most time I've spent anyplace. I finally have a home and I'm about to run for mayor of Minco. I may get trounced, but I can't win if I don't run. I'm excited about giving it a go! I think this is a great town with a wide-open future. Let's get this party started!
