Fannie Mae’s Birthday Outing

Hi guys, This is an excerpt from my mom's next book..if you like this check out her first one "Adventures of the Quarter Slot Sisters" at www.barbarapom.com

It was the end of July and time for another "sisters" birthday outing. Fannie Mae was turning ???? and we thought she deserved a lunch and movie day. The movie "Mamma Mia" was playing and since most of the sisters (except me) had seen the Broadway play and since we all love Abba music we decided it would be a fun movie to see together. Bettie Sue volunteered to plan the outing and as rarely ever happens all the sisters were in town and could join in the fun. Another added surprise was that my daughter Kerri and granddaughter Lucy were visiting from California and Kerri wanted to join the sisters to see exactly what happened on one of our outings. Of course she had read all about our adventures, but that's not like a firsthand experience. Granddad Billy Ray jumped at the chance to have Lucy to himself all day so everything was set for our big day.

I Vote For...

I have to admit as a registered republican, I wasn't thrilled about our choices of candidates this year. Wow...shocker!

But the thing is that I'm actually finding myself saying things lately like "He's growing on me" or " Ya know, I like his foreign policy" but the question of faith always remained for me. I have this little fantasy as a practicing Christian that we have someone who shares my religious views in the White House…

Return Home to Michigan to Help Raise Funds

Kerri Pomarolli and Ron McGehee Co-Headline

A Night of Clean Comedy at

Dearborn Christian School

Los Angeles, CA ~ August 4, 2008 ~ When Dearborn, MI girl Kerri Pomarolli followed her dream to Hollywood she didn't leave her roots or faith behind. The Dearborn Christian School alumni made her way to Hollywood from Michigan not only to pursue her dream of acting but to marry a banker! Well, if you read magazines, newspapers or watch television you'll know she was called to do stand up and didn't marry the banker!

After small success in television and film, through much prayer, she found her calling and comedic outlet on stage. Pomarolli has become one of the few Christian comediennes who can fill a church and a comedy club with the same message. Pomarolli's successes have not gone unnoticed by secular media. She regularly makes  television appearances on ABC. ABC Family, CBS, NBC, FOX, Comedy Central, Lifetime, Hallmark Channel, CBN, CNN, Oxygen and many more. She's appeared on The Tonight Show over 28 times, published 3 books, writes an award winning column Report From A Hollywood God Girl, and is a contributing writer for many national magazines. Her book Guys Like Girls Named Jennie (formally known as If I'm Waiting on God, Then What Am I Doing In A Christian Chatroom?: Confessions of a Do-It-Yourself Single and inspired by a few Jennies at Dearborn Christian School) was just released by Zondervan and is also being considered as a romantic comedy movie. She's tapped to star in new film, Engaged, scheduled to shoot in Los Angeles this summer.  Not bad for a Dearborn home girl!

If you've read Pomarolli's book Guys Like Girls Named Jennie you'll remember the comedian she meet in the final chapter. Enter Ron McGehee! Pomarolli ends up with a Korean Irish guy from Flint, Michigan! McGehee not only won over Pomarolli, but his popularity has made him one of the most sought after comedians in the industry both in Christian and secular venues. He produces Non Toxic comedy shows for The Improv Comedy Clubs and is becoming well known for his writing talent. McGehee is a big hit with young adults. Each year he performs at College campuses and music festivals across the U.S.

McGehee's credits include NBC's Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central and filming his own one hour comedy special on the TV show Bananas. He has also made a number of guest appearances on The Joni Lamb Show, DayStar, JCTV, NBC, ABC Family, Si TV, TLN, FamilyNet television, many more promoting his brand of innovative Clean Comedy. He recently did warm up comedy at a live taping for Carlos Oscar's one-hour special to be aired on a Comedy Central that will be released on DVD by Time Warner Video. McGehee has confirmed an unnamed comedy pilot with CBS producers to write as well as appear on the show. He has also written for The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn, The Carson Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel, Spec scripts for Scrubs and My Name Is Earl. His writing credits don't stop there, he is also busy as a screenwriter and contributing writer in many magazines including Brio for teens from Focus on the Family, Battle, Marriage Partnership and Transform Your Life magazines. You can read his national syndicated columns Headline Humor in The Chronicle Christian Newspapers and The Lighter Side of Marriage in Cornerstone Connection magazine.

Pomarolli and McGehee were married on April 17, 2005 and welcomed Lucy Madilynn McGehee to the family on October 23, 2007. Since having Lucy both parents understand the importance of a good education with Christian values. Pomarolli feels it is important to keep schools like Dearborn Christian available to families and hopes that their efforts will help raise money for the school.

If you'd like to see them in action, Pomarolli and McGehee star in and co-produce webisodes, produced by Eastgate Productions,  that demonstrates both their comedic ability to interact as they take on the task of home improvement.  As you will see, their complete lack of skills are down right comical. I Love Kerri premiered on Sky Angel Two and can be viewed at www.ilovekerri.tv.

I am so excited to bring my husband and new daughter Lucy to DCS, states Pomarolli. I just hope Mr. DeRoo doesn't choose to share with her any stories about her mommy being the crazy "Italian" kid at the Dutch Reformed school. I hope he concentrates on my exceptional dodge ball skills and the fact that I was the prettiest girl in the whole 5th grade. (well I was the only girl but who's counting?)

Letters to Lucy - SuperStar!

Dear Love Bug,

It's July 19th and I'm pretty sure this book will have about 10 pages by the time you're ten. Every time I try to get to the computer to write I'm stopped by clothes to clean, food to pick up, diapers to change or an impromptu game of "let's chase Lucy" around the house. Luckily our place isn't that big because you're super duper fast Ms. Mario Andretti. (I know you won't know who that is..look him up in your history book.)

You're literally almost walking. I'm not lying. I knew you were advanced when you rolled over at 3 weeks and started trying to climb out of your crib at 6 months. In fact to this day every time we put you in your crib you immediately make a break for it as if you're about to be put in prison, which is how you refer to any crib or enclosed environment. You're almost 9 months and you not only can cruise all around the furniture unassisted, you can balance all by yourself with no hands. Then you fall down and eat it on the floor. Then you repeat the process. You're a tough little cookie.

Letters to Lucy - He Snores, She Snores

Dear Little Piggy,

Well he's done it again. Another one of your daddy's traits has made it's way down the gene pool to you, my dear. Yep, you're both in there now snoring away like two little piggies. It's darling when you do it now. But if you follow in his footsteps, I'm afraid your wedding night will be like daddy's when mommy almost smothered his face with a pillow!

Letters to Lucy - Working

Dear Munchkin.

I'm trying to be a good mom and write this book so you can have something to look back on and realize that you were loved and cared for and every moment with you was sacred. Well I've done a bang up job so far because every time I think I have something profound to write about I can't make it over to the computer to record it. I'm too busy cleaning spit up out of my couch, washing and drying baby clothes stained with brown iron supplements or most recently chasing you around the house trying to explain in your language why it's not a good idea to chew on electrical cords or eat paper. You're so into eating paper while we were in the security line at LAX airport the other day you ate my boarding pass. Literally you ate it. I felt like a kid with no homework when it was time to show it to the security officer and I was sitting there holding my puppy/baby trying to explain why I didn't have a boarding pass! Nice Lucy..really nice.

My Marital Bed is Broken!!!
Current mood: bouncy

My Marital Bed is Broken

My marriage bed is broken. No really, if you walk into our bedroom you will see that half of our bed is sagging to the floor. My side is neat and perfect. Ron's side of our brand new mattress has sunk into a deep cavernous mess. If you like splinters in your behind then you can come sleep at our place. This is because I pulled another scheme and got us into this situation.

After we got money from our wedding, we went and tried out many different mattresses. We've both had back problems and after watching Lindsay Wagner on the 1500th infomercial we decided to try out the "Sleep Number" mattress at the store. These beds are luxurious and wonderful. Each side has a remote control and you can pump up to your desired firmness or pump down to your desired softness. We fell in love with this mattress immediately and had to have one. The only problem was that they cost $2500 and they don't sell them used on EBay. I looked. We just couldn't afford to spend that kind of cash on a mattress when we were newlywed, full-time, starving comedians and needed the money for little things like rent and food. We were a bit heartbroken that we couldn't purchase our dream mattress but we agreed to save up for it. So about 6 months later we had saved some money and I announced to Ron we were going to get a new "Sleep Number Bed" very soon. He was thrilled. It would be our first grown up purchase.

                       Guys Like Girls Named Jennie

Kerri Pomarolli Stakes Her Claim In Pop Culture

Zondervan Re-Covers Book To Reach A Broader Market

Guys Like Girls Named Jennie Hits Stores June 1

Los Angeles – May 19, 2008 – As the high demand for Faith Based books rise in the mainstream arena Zondervan's decision to release Pomarolli's book with a less Christian title and cover is the ideal path to reach a yearning secular market. Market competition has risen in the publishing industry opening a whole new realm for Christian authors who want to cross over to the other side. Christian or not, readers tend to like books about real experiences with real purposes and that's what Pomarolli's book gives you. She communicates Christianity that non Christians can relate to all through the gift of laughter.

In Guys Like Girls Named Jennie, formerly titled If I'm Waiting On God, Then What Am I Doing In A Christian Chatroom, Pomarolli writes about her obsession with finding a man through hilarious scenarios. Smitten and in love, over and over starting in kindergarten, Pomarolli enlightens us with her funny original quirky true life stories of her courtships that will shine a light on the reality of being single in today's world. Pomarolli searches for Mr. Right as she tries to break the rules of conventional dating. This book is a must read and will be enjoyed by both men and women.

The book will be available in stores on June 1, 2008 but you can pre-order now on familychristian.com (where you can see an interview with Pomarolli), Amazon.com or Zondervan.com and kerripom.com.
