Opal Enthroned rejoins Necrophagia
Current mood: electric
Reposted from myspace.com/necrophagiaofficial
Opal Enthroned has rejoined Necrophagia on March 5th 2008, Opal was a member of the band during the period when Philip Anselmo was playing guitar for Necrophagia, She made her Necro debut on the "Cannibal Holocaust" EP in 2001. Opal has also worked with Killjoy and Anselmo in the now defunct raw black metal project Viking Crown. Opal also has many fans and friends from her amazing Southern Isolation release. Killjoy and Opal have both stated that the new alliance is extremely inspiring and will see them focusing on some very, very horror filled and even creepier tunes for Necrophagia ( as well as two other projects that will be launched at a later date ) Opal stated that her main focus is now on Necrophagia's upcoming and much delayed "Deathtrip 69"

R.I.P VAMPIRA
Current mood: sad
Legendary horror hostess Vampira has passed away, I will miss her greatly. She was a pioneer in the world of horror and was absoluletly one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Along with Barbara Steele there is no other femme that has had such an impact on me in the horror genre. I raise a toast to the memory of the true Scream Queen and I will dedicate the new Necrophagia record to her.
R.I.P VAMPIRA ..Gone but never forgotten !
Sin-cerely, Killjoy

New Necrophagia interview with Iscariah

The first time I plugged in with Necrophagia was through "Holocausto de la Morte" I thought that they Sound was awesome they got using very simple musical elements such as riffs raw as flesh itself, Their rhythms flowing through the veins of the "old school death metal and 80's thrash" and last but not least the astonishing vocal record from Killjoy was simply amazing, and the ability to give to their tracks a great raw atmosphere. Hungry for more Horror Death Metal, I researched for more material to my ears, the next thing was "The Season Of The Dead" LP 87' obviously it seemed to me that it was way to different from "Holocausto" 'cause it had been conceived 11 years back but in a certain way I was still capting this whole sound of horror and rawness with their very own authority. Now, after almost 22 years Necrophagia continues their legacy of horror, growing up in their own sound that keeps changing and mutating, record after record Curious and anxious to know what are those guys into and what are they expecting of their two latest Releases on cd "Harvest Vol Ritual I" and his DVD "Necrotorture Sickness" we established contact with the FIVE STRING DEMON Iscariah.....
1. Bloody Greetings, Welcome the the splatter Pages Of BNF tell us how are the things going to you and Necrophagia?
Iscariah: Things are quite very much happening now actually after some break. We are in pre-production for the follow-up to our previous album which will be entitled Deathtrip 69. Also we are working on a new single which will most likely called Satans Skin.
2. Which other things besides horror, Satan and gore, does inspire you in your music?
Iscariah: All sorts of things which turmoil within the dark mind I would say. To create a bit of dark magic in everyday life is very inspiring and is something everyone should tryits everywhere.
3.How's it been the experience for all of you working with so relevant people in the Horror Films such as Paul Naschy and Jose Gojica Marins A.K.A Coffin Joe?
Iscariah: Its been really great for us and very rewarding. We are all fans of their works and its a true honor for us. More collaboration will come for the next album as well. I am sure Killjoy has some fucked up elixirs stirring and boiling somewhere in his house. I can not reveal any names as of now though.
4. You are in the band since 2001; Fug, Frediablo, Killjoy and you together in Wurdulak; was being in Wurdulak any kind of bridge for all of you end playing together in Necrophagia?
Iscariah: Well, it was for me at least. Not sure about the others, but for me it was the gateway to Necrophagia. I had been in touch with Killjoy for some time and also I had been a Necrophagia fan for many years. When I was asked to join, I immediately accepted the offer. It was what I was looking for at the time since it was new for me and nothing like Immortal or bands I had been involved with in the past.
5. Where are you located now, USA or Norway?
Iscariah: I moved back to Norway in the summer of 2005 after I had spent one and a half year in the UK. The UK is not for me & its filthy. A very bad place & nothing like Norway or any other country. It is the REAL third world country in the world. More fucked up than even Ethiopia he he.
6. Which is your favorite Necrophagia record, and which do you think is the most bloodiest and heaviest?
Iscariah: I would have to say Holocausto de la Morte. The sick vibes are just crawling out from everywhere on that album. I had heard Necrophagia in the past before that with Season of the Dead, but when I heard Holocausto I was immediately possessed.
7. What "Gore" means to you?
Iscariah: Well, it means life running freely. Gore is a term often associated with negative things within the common mind, but its a great thing and a cleansing process. A lot of directors see beyond the actual visual scene and has a deeper meaning with it than just blood and guts.
8. How could you define Necrophagia sound? Calling you a Horror Death Metal Band is an appropriate word? Iscariah: I would describe it as horror metal. We are not trying to create any new terms in the extreme metal scene since the scene has so many sub-categories that it is insane! But I still think that Necrophagia is a acception and should be firmly labeled Horror Metal.
9. Necrotorture Sickness DVD is an excellent production is the first time I can see you playing live. This could be a kind of farewell for Frediablo, why he is not in the band anymore?
Iscariah: Thank you. Frediablo decided to leave to concentrate on one band called Grimfist. He was tired of all his 20 projects and decided it was enough with one, but he chose Grimfist over Necrophagia. I guess he wants to be more famous and professional. Hehe. Good luck to him.
10. How was "Harvesting The Dead" US TOUR 2005 experience? How its a show of necrophagia?
Iscariah: The US tour for Necrophagia was very much up and down. Some shows where great and some where really shit. The tour suffered from rip-off local promoters and people dont keeping what they promised. If we will EVER tour the US again, it has to be on different terms and definitely with different promoters. We still had time to get fucked up though of course & also met some great friends.
11. What do you know about Colombian / South American scene, are you planning some day touring around here?
Iscariah: I am a avid fan of South American extreme metal. A lot of bands from there are some of my biggest inspirations like Sarcofago, old Sepultura, Pentagram, Holocausto, Vulcano, Sextrash etc etc. Also some newer bands I have heard recently like Witchtrap, Anal Vomit & Goatsemen are awesome bands! All hail! We would love to come to your country to play a concert some day. I would prefer that over any European or American country for sure! South America has real diehard scene. The rest of the world can fukk off!
12. Give me your top 5 metal albums and Horror Movies?
Iscariah: oh nothis is almost impossible, but here are some of my favorites. Celtic Frost To Mega Therion Slayer Reign in Blood Sarcofago INRI Sodom In the Sign of Evil Bathory Hammerheart
The Excorcist (original) Evil Dead (1 & 2) The Beyond Suspiria The Shining
13. Now you are working in "The Harvest Ritual Vol 2. The Awakening Of Sin" would be a concept album? Or only The name of the album Will Be?
Iscariah: Well, as stated earlier, the new album will be called Deathtrip 69 instead. The reason is that it would just sound like a bad sequel if we went with the original idea of a Vol. 2 album. Its better this way.
14. Undead Torment is the new guitar player, would be a full time member is he actually working on the development of the tracks from the new CD? Iscariah: Yes! Undead Torment is also involved with the writing process for the new material. He is very much welcomed and needed in Necrophagia since he thinks Necrophagia as of old and is also an old school maniac like the rest of us. Also a total horror freak.
15. In HR V. 1 there's a track called "Return To Texas" this show us once again Killjoy's absolute devotion to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which is your favorite Re make from Toob Hooper's classic what do you think about Michael Bay's version?
Iscariah: Unfortunately I have only seen the original first one and thats it. I am not very much into remakes at all since they tend to loose the magic. I am very much NOT looking forward to the remake of The Omen which should be out now. I do like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie though of course!
16. Thanks for your time, hope I hadn't make you sleep to death with this interview, is there something to add or any comment?
Iscariah: Thanks for the interview my friend & a thousand hails to all the extreme metal hordes of South America! Hail Horror & Death! Only death is real!!!
