outside world
Current mood: intense

i thought i should share this wee bit!

the first part is a colored design for my grind/mosh band "its a trap you fucking primate". we used it a simplified one-colored version  for our shirts.

couldn't let it rest so i did a continuation of it! and hopefully whenever some spare time is available i will doodle a bit more.

i chose a very simplified, stylized approach for it, with a lot of graphic symbols.

i changed the speechbubbles on part 1 into circular ones.

lets see where this is going...

yours c.

edit: i added pg 3

Tank Girl: Visions og Booga Reviews
Current mood: thankful

hi there

i came across this two reviews of our Tank Girl: visions of booga which made me very proud of the art put out

http://www.staticmultimedia.com/print/reviews/tank_girl~_visions_of_booga_~1

"he artwork in the comic is simply amazing. No, it isn't incredibly realistic and finely detailed. It is just incredibly colored and artistically appealing. It took a while for me to notice that Christian Krank, the artist, was using colors in an interesting way to give off the illusion that things are colored appropriately. I realize that makes little sense, but if you open the cover, you will see what I mean. The general style keeps with the punk aspect the comic series has always had, but perhaps a little less gritty. It fits well with the setting, of course, as well as the storyline."

(well i am not "the" artist but the colorist but hey, looks like i did a good job)

then theres a review at savage critics
http://savagecritic.com/2008/05/new-returns-idw-jog-got-his-return-long.html

"He (Rufus Dayglo)and colorist Christian Krank are definitely the sole artists here, and they've got a very attractive style going, blending Dayglo's thick lines and manic action with a restrained scheme of faded hues (and lots of zip-a-tone patterns), warm colors gradually appearing to set off cool ones, more and more as the story goes on."

or that incredible amusing post at the IDW messageboard
"Mssr. Rufus and Mona Mee A.C. Martin, you've created something right clear very fab and nice!!
Just read the first two, me likey!!!!
Me shakey for more.....
Great art Ruf!....Colour one too did a great job..."

so, go to your comic shops and get your copies too.
(2 just came out this wednesday)

and if you find a review of Tank Girl: Visions of Booga, drop a line....

yours truly
christian

i had quite some problems lately while playing team fortress and coloring in photoshop. mouse seemed to freeze. photoshop wasn..t able to process the brush strokes. guy at the computershop told me it could be a software problem, something with the cooler. still, i went for a new mouse and so far, the problems the problems seems fixed.

Snaked goes tpb, bandshirts and rock´n´roll
Current mood: catalyzed

cool news,

Miniseries SNAKED, published by IDW, written by Cliff Meth, drawn by Rufus Dayglo and  colored by me (at least issues 2 and 3) will be collected in a tradepaperback. included also: a foreword by Gene Colan and the original short story the series was based on. and its illustrations by legendary Dave "X-men" Cockrum, which i will color. (which makes me feel very very honored)
you can order it now in the latest previews, just in case you haven..t got the single issues of SNAKED

this weel i also worked on a shirt design for my Math.Grind.Noise Band: IT..S A TRAP YOU FUCKING PRIMATE
it..s (of course) a small comic strip. will post it here as soon as we get the shirts.
hopefully in time for our first offical gig may 13th with the punks from Glass and Ashes!

enjoy your weekends, punks

and stay tank!

tank girl - visions of booga 2 finished
Current mood: contemplative

sitting here in front of my computer and drinking coffee.
the last days have passed by in such a hurry. i have been almost coloring non-stop. pausing only for getting something to eat, you know, unhealthy stuff, mechanically inserted in my mouth. or sleeping. i..m looking thru the pages and am way proud how this all turned out. some pages flew put while others ( the "evel knievel"-page) frustrated me when i tried to get a consistent color scheme.

artist ruf is off to ny-city-comic-con. hope he..s having a relaxing flight and gets back in one piece! and i will now relax the next few days, play some team fortress, watching movies and read the latest batch of comics and the hellboy novels. all stuff i haven..t done for the quite some time.

here..s some teasers for you:
a small cute panel feat tank girl, booga and barney

a pic of rufus workdesk
(stolen balantly from his blog)

Photobucket

and the amazing wraparound cover by überartist Ashley Wood

hope i can soon post some more teasers!

mug is empty!
stomach too!

stay tank!

edit: i was at my parents place yesterday and talked with my mother bout the my comic coloring gig. she wanted to know if it..s brutal stuff. made me laugh. cute!

Tank Girl 1 nearly finished
Current mood: drained

so i just finished the last pages of tankgirl: visions of booga over the last days.
i am now waiting for artist ruf to approve them. he usually comes up with amazing ideas how to push the page to their final level.

(inside cover piece from Ruf)

Tank Girl: visions of booga, published by IDW  should be out in may, you can order it now in thru the  previews catalog/diamond distribution now!

funny thing about the fact that i am working on a tank girl comic is that the first character i created for on ongoing comic strip (later re-invented for my webcomic Destroy Dystopia) was actually a modified copy of tank girl, upgraded with some superpowers. she was called haywire and had a teddybear companion and lived in a cardboardbox. she later became Radikal in Destroy Dystopia featuring a more modern look. well, now i am working on the original gal.
this is what my character  looked like back in 96 ( i think)

taking a well deserved break now

Tank Girl - visions of booga
Current mood: drained

feeling like roy batty from blade runner right now:
i want more life.
i feel like the only thing i do is working. dancing from a "normal life job" to "a dream come true comic book coloring".
i am knee deep in work on a new TANK GIRL mini series for IDW publishing titled "tank girl: visions of booga". Artist Ruf Dayglo is spamming my email account with a huge amount of gorgeous linework over original Tankgirlwrite Alan C Martin fantastic scripts.
huge amount of work. but i couldn´t be happier working with these two amazing guys. covers again
less talk, more rock
i got green light to show off with some pages

first the incredible cover drawn by Ashley Wood

you can order it now in a good sorted comic shop somewhere near you.

and don´t forget to order  Danijel Zezelj´s REX, published from my friends at optimum wound comics, too
optimum wound comics

have a nice weekend.
mine will be full of work
