TOP 10 FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEOS... well, right now

As I've been wildly surfing YouTube for inspiration lately, I've come across some FABULOUS music videos. Some of them are from new bands and others are tried and true. I have put them in no particular order but right now these are my top ten favorite music videos. Watch them and see why! Enjoy!

1) Flobots - Handlebars (ok I lied this is actually my number 1 favorite video right now)

2) She & Him - Why Do You Let Me Stay Here

3) Mylene Farmer - Sans Contrefaçon (amazing...)

4) Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes

5) AHA - Take on Me

6) Vampire Weekend - Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

7) Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

8) Thriller - the original (I hadn't watched this in a while and to hear Michael Jackson say "I'm not like other guys" "I mean, I'm different" is priceless and of course the video itself is timeless)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyJbIOZjS8

9) The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes

10) Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug

Ok I couldn't stop at 10... Here are some more great videos:

Chemical Brothers- Midnight Madness (this would be better in hi res on a huge screen but it's still awesome)

Motion City Soundtrack - It Had To Be You

Ok Go - Here It Goes Again (genius and a youtube hit because of it)

The Postal Service - Such Great Heights

Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma (I can't get enough of them!)

MUSIC VIDEO Competition Extended... Check out ME talking about the video!!

People!

I have entered an awesome music video pitch into a competition and would love for you to check it out and tell me your thoughts.

Go to www.massify.com, sign up to become a part of the film community, and then RATE and COMMENT on my pitch at www.massify.com/themarionettedance... Go for 5 stars please =)

I really appreciate it. This could give me the chance to work with Epic Records, RSA Films and a wonderful band called Low Vs Diamond.

This site also has incredible opportunities for filmmakers, actors and writers alike. You can find people in your area to work with on projects and audition for other peoples' movies. The new After Dark film Perkins 14 cast two people from Massify to act in the film!

I'll be asking for your votes again in a few weeks if I make the final 5!

Thanks
Kristina

CRUEFEST VIDEOS
Current mood: tired
Category: Music

Hey Gang,

Although it's been over a month already, I thought I'd share these videos I shot at the Motley Crue concert in Los Angeles. I was invited by my friend Justin Kreutzmann who's doing the behind the scenes movies for a thing called Virtual Ticket on their web site. They interviewed me and I got to hang on the tour bus -- but no personal Tommy Lee greetings -- though I would be frightened to know what that would actually entail. I did see him at Hyde the other night though...

That's about it.

Stay tuned because I've been working on a music video proposal for a competition and next week the secrets will be revealed ;) Well, pretty much I'm going to ask you guys to look at my pitch and vote on it if you think it's worthy... But it will be. It's fucking awesome and very very bizarre.

Happy September!
K

Martha and Rufus Wainwright last night...
Current mood: nostalgic
Category: Music

Here's a little video I shot of Martha Wainwright in concert, joined for one song by her brother Rufus... Unfortunately my camera only had very little memory so I only got 2 minutes of it!

The concert was amazing and I thank my friend CJ for inviting me. CJ played trumpet on tour with Rufus for almost a year.

Martha sang two covers that were so amazing I can barely talk about it. One was a cover of an Edith Piaf song and the other was a cover of Judy Garland's Stormy Weather, which almost made me cry... Check out:

APOLOGIES TO CHICAGO....
Current mood: pensive
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

Hi all!

I just wanted to say "Sorry". Sorry that my life is such a crazy mess - but a good one at that. And mostly sorry to the fans in Chicago who were planning on meeting me at the convention this weekend and I had to bail due to an AWESOME job. I hope the promoters won't hate me for life and invite me to the next one. But a job is a job and acting is my passion so I couldn't say no... I hope you all understand.

I thought if I gave you guys my schedule from the past 2 months, maybe you can understand why I've been so bad at writing back and staying in touch... I don't want sympathy. My life is awesome... I just have major guilt complexes for not being better at keeping up with my myspace page and all you guys...

Here it is:

May 2: LA to NY ---- I fly to NY specifically for a charity event that I volunteer to host and I invite my friend David Moscow to replace Charlie Rose on stage; I met Charlie Rose and he was awesome. My friend David is awesome too -- he stars in the new Vacancy 2 movie...

Photobucket

May 14: NY to France - Cannes Film Festival ---- I saw the premiere of Indiana Jones and of The Changeling, both of which I found phenomenal...uh, yes, that is a photo of me sitting 4 rows behind Clint Eastwood, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt... but pretty much I wouldn't go to Cannes again if I didn't have a movie there ... it's all about the celebrity aspect, and slightly ridiculous if you ask me. Not that I minded seeing Brad Pitt that close up ;)

Photobucket

May 22: France to Serbia - shoot Zone of the Dead ---- I arrived in Belgrade, had a day to adjust to everything, an hour of which I spent in the grocery market trying to figure out which milk was the skimmed one. We shot 6 day weeks, most days of which were 12 hours long and intense... On my one big day off I shot the cover and 8 page spread of Serbian Maxim which will be released when the movie premieres theatrically in Serbia. I thought a photo shoot is easy... uh, I was in more pain after shooting that cover than from any days of shooting zombies!!! I felt like a peacock at times, putting all my weight on one leg to make the other one look thinner... or something like that. But the results were awesome. Pretty much though, I felt like I didn't sleep in Serbia. And I kind of had an emotional breakdown... But other than that, I think the movie will be great and Serbians are wonderful people! Here's a photo of Ken Foree and I after a night of partying and leaving for the airport on our last day (I had like 1 hour of sleep)... And the sunset from my hotel the night before...

June 16: Serbia to NY ---- my mother and best friend Kathy organize a birthday party for me... they probably forgot to invite half my friends but it was great to see everyone who came. I auditioned for Law and Order:SVU and BOOKED THE ROLE! I'll keep you up to date. I will play a Belgian astronaut!

--> uh, no photos.... I was too tired to pick up any electronics

June 20-22: NY to NJ --- FANGORIA NJ... Ok ok ok ok ok... I know that's not really considered traveling, but I AM a native New Yorker, so traveling anywhere outside the 5 boroughs is ... well, a trip... =) Plus I had to pack a bag -- so that counts right?

June 24: NY to LA -- Auditions... my managers call me on Monday, telling me I should really try to make it to LA for an audition on Wednesday... I find out the same day that I got cast in an independent flick called Peter and Vandy that shoots in NY that next Saturday (that's today for anyone that's keeping track of this shit)...

June 27: LA - NY - Shoot Peter and Vandy --- I play Michelle, the possible love interest of Peter, played by a great actor Jason Ritter. It's a very short scene but I had a great time and this is the reason why I had to cancel Flashback Weekend in Chicago and now we have come full circle because originally I was writing this blog to apologize for not being able to make it there!

If you've made it this far, I commend you but I hope I was able to give you a taste of my crazy life for the past few months...

Rock On!

ORGASMING TO PORTISHEAD
Current mood: aroused
Category: Life

I have so many things to report upon....

But, first and foremost, I just bought the new Portishead album, Third, and if there's something close to having an orgasm while you listen to music, I'm having it. I have been waiting for this album forever and the song We Carry On is the closest thing to perfection I've heard in a while. Now this is coming from someone who had formative years listening to their first album, Dummy, which is still one of my favorites out there. Formative meaning I had my first platonic foot massage from a very hunky man while listening to Strangers when I was 16. Random. Music, as anything, is subjective and therefore I would never tell anyone they have to agree with me on the perfection I perceive in this album - nor can I promise any sexual satisfaction from it - but if you have any inclination towards their music, check it out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKm-OkHj-VM

I'm in NYC right now and am going to check out Justin Pierre and his band Motion City Soundtrack playing at the Roseland Ballroom on Thursday night with some friends. They are another awesome band and if anyone is making movies out there, you should have Justin compose for you. He's a genius. But I'm done promoting =)

Back to Portishead: Thank you for the orgasmic experience.

In one week I'm off to Cannes for the Cannes Film Festival and then off to shoot ZONE OF THE DEAD in Serbia for three weeks. I'm playing one of the leads (a rookie interpol agent) with Ken Foree. I'm very excited, but nervous as well. I've got some big shoes to live up to... "big shoes to live up to" Learn to speak English, Kristina. Belgrade will be fascinating I'm sure and I'm always up for new experiences.

I think for my next blog I'm just going to put up a bunch of photos that I think exemplify the last few months.... So stay tuned for that.

Rock Out,

PLEASE SAVE A DOG TODAY: Oprah, Puppy Mills, and Humane Society
Category: Pets and Animals

Ok - so I guess one would think that the second in my slew of blogs would be something crazy or fun or perhaps self-indulgent... Well, it’s not...

As some of you may have understood by now, I’m a big animal lover. I have had dogs, cats and horses my whole life. I rescued a horse from the racetrack when I was 10. I’ve fostered and found homes for dogs and am a volunteer at Best Friends Animal Society.

This past Saturday I went to the Genesis Awards hosted by the Humane Society of the United States and I realized that I must do more to create awareness about the inhumane treatment of animals in this country and around the world.

But let’s start at home and let’s start with PUPPY MILLS. I just spent the last few hours on the phone with one of the board members of the Humane Society and subsequently watching the Oprah show on which she spoke about the inhumane treatment of dogs in puppy mills and showed disturbing footage of shelter dogs being euthanized. I cried for 45 out of the 60 minutes of the show.

If you do nothing else today, please go to www.oprah.com and/or watch these videos about puppy mills and the euthanizing of dogs in shelters. It’s not easy viewing, but it’s worth watching to SEE what’s going on with these poor helpless animals.

Please, stop the Puppy Mills!!! Do not buy a pet from a pet store. If you would like a pet, please go to your local shelter - one third of rescue dogs are purebreds! Or find a responsible and respectable breeder and visit their establishment personally. There ARE people out there who breed dogs respectably and with the care that an animal deserves... But honestly, when you go to a shelter and you look into the eyes of a dog who has been abandoned and who needs you, you will understand how beautiful it is to save a dog.

So, here’s KK’s list of the day:

1) Do not buy your puppies from a PET STORE
2) Go to your local RESCUE shelter
2) Neuter and spay your animals!!!
3) Spread the word and educate your peers!

Thank you for listening...

Kristina
