gravity has begun sucking me back down towards the earth

Hello 31!  Hey, getting older is fun.  I finally learned how to read.  Next on the list?  Maturity. That one is going to be harder - no night classes.

I sucked pretty hard

I read some old college papers today.  Pretty bad...I remember not trying very hard, and thinking I could slide easily by with little effort.  I did, but the long-term effects are pretty embarrisking.

And I haven't really written since.  Well, nothing "academic," for sure, but really nothing much else of any length.

I have a real writing journal now though.  I'm trying.  I'm trying real hard, Ringo.  No blogs for serious shit.  Blogs are for bitching or being funny.

Blogs are for when you want people to watch you.  Voyer writing and reading.  Live action word porn for mental maserbation.**

**My brand of ending this particular blog is wheel's off, so I end it with this footnote.  A lady has to leave something to the imagination.

Current mood: Screw em

There is no movie funnier than Legends of the Fall.

There is no better way to celebrate watching Legends of the Fall than to do an interpretive dance about Legends of the Fall immediately after watching Legends of the Fall.

Do you remember the 21st night of september?

Over one year ago I had three goals.  They were to play the guitar, learn Chinese and become a "veritable tour de force" in the publishing industry.

Let's see how that's going.
1.    I have my tenth guitar lesson in two days.  I should be practicing bar chords more often but I've been fug busy lately.  My repitoire (in order of song learned) includes She Took a Long Cold Look at Me by Syd Barrett, Redemption Song, Good Morning (Beatles), Brown Eyed Girl (it was easy), some other Syd Barrett, and some other songs that I can't remember right now.  Plus I taught myself Quicksand by Bowie.  Not a bit shabby!
2.    I took 8/10 Chinese lessons at UCSD.  I have forgotten at least half of that now, months later.*
3.    I am better at my job now and have been tempted to greater heights.  The  jury is out on this one.  There's no chance of my moving to NYC in the near future.

So far I give myself a solid B+.

*This goal is trumped by my actually going to China.  Me: 1, China: 0

OCD

In the fine tradition of this psychologically flooded time of ours, that allows us to label our most minor depressions with actual disorder names, I've decided I'm obsessive compulsive.

A benefit of this is that I'm all about running again and have been doing it daily.  I'm better now than I've ever been.  I can go for hours.

The negative is that I am listening to my favorite songs way too many times in a row.  I listened to a certain song that shall remain nameless 20 times yesterday - and it made me giddy with rapture each time.

This type of behavior portends a glitch.  When the needle in my brain stops skipping I hope I can still run to beat the band.

and so

I'm going to China and Tibet in September.  About ten years ago a friend and I were thinking of travelling through Asia but that never happened.  I was beginning to think it was a pipe dream.  I'll let you know once I buy the tickets, though.
