Bill Johnston's Pirate Days August 8 -17, 2008 Alexandria Bay, NY 1000 Islands Welcome to Alexandria Bay, in the beautiful Thousand Islands, New York. Alexandria Bay is home of Boldt Castle, situated on Heart Island, and the proud home of the Famous "Bill Johnston's Pirate Days". The following is a list of our 10 days filled with family fun and special events. Our sword-fighting group, known as "Tales from Remikreh", will be performing throughout Alexandria Bay. This summer will make 14 years of the Brockville Infantry performing at Pirate Days. The Brockville Infantry Company (1862) which was formed in 1990, reenacts the Canadian Volunteer Militia of the 1860s. The Pirate Committee and the Chamber of Commerce are proud to have them highlight our event. "THREE CHEERS FOR THE "BROCKVILLE INFANTRY"! Be sure to stop by and visit the Entertainment Tent, located at Upper James Street, for a list of activities planned for the day. Take your chances on a fantastic raffle with the lucky top prize winner gaining a week's working trip on the Faire Jeanne (www.tallshipsadventure.org), learning the ropes aboard the 110 ft brigantine while they sail the waters of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario. Make memories using our official commemorative poster with your family to capture pirate autographs. Don't miss your chance to collect your commemorative Bill Johnston's Pirate Days button. All of these items are available at the Chamber of Commerce or at various locations throughout the village and donations are greatly appreciated. Place your own share of the wealth into the Pirate Keg to help keep our event free! Feel free to share your photos with the Chamber of Commerce for future promotions. You can e-mail them to clerk@alexbay.org A Treasure Hunt kicks off our Pirate Days. Join us by picking up a clue sheet at the Chamber Office located at 7 Market Street. Join in and search for clues at local businesses for your chance to win great prizes! FRIDAY, AUGUST 8 3:00-4:00 pm Pirate Magic Show – Pirates Paul and Dave Jackman will entertain both the young and old at heart under the Entertainment Tent on the Corner of Church and James Streets with a fantastic magic show. 5:00-6:00pm The Twin Magicians return for your magical pleasure. 6:00-8:00 pm Twin Magicians – Will be around the Village dazzling you with balloon sculpting and pirate juggling. 8:00-10:00pm Block Dance – JAMES STREET Upper Dock between Cavallario's Bayside Pizzeria and Dock of the Bay – "Lisa + Mojo Filter" featuring Syracuse SAMMY award recipient Mark Hoffmann for your listening pleasure and dancing. Beware of the Pirates they might be making an appearance during the dance! Pirate Sword Fighters – Tales from Remikreh and Captain Bill Johnston will also be arriving (sources tell us) to create havoc and mayhem. Beware at the block dance! SATURDAY, AUGUST 9 10:00-11:00amChildren's Boats, Treasure Chests & Cannon Crafts – Pavilion at Scenic View Park – Create your own masterpiece! (Glue, crayons, paper and supplies provided by Kinney Drugs). A special thank you this year to Hearts for Youth for their assistance with this event. 11:30 am Children Parade Line Up – at Scenic View Park - Calling all children & pirates to join the Sword Fighters in the Children's Parade. Pirates will be present for photo opportunities. 11:45-Noon Children's Pirate Parade - The Children's Parade will be lead by Pirate Bill Johnston and daughter Kate. They will accompany the children dressed as little pirates. All children are invited to participate in the fun with their family! 12:00-1:00 ?????? 1:00 pm Capture of the Pirate Scouting Party – Will start at Uncle Sam Boat Tours. The Guard & Villagers will capture & arrest the pillaging Pirates downtown & escort them to Scenic View Park, attack point of the ships. 2:00-3:00pm Pirate Invasion – Pirates, led by legendary Pirate Bill Johnston, will be arriving in the tall ships, The FAIR JEANNE, The ROYALISTE, & The LOTUS, ready to do battle. Cannon and musket fire rock the Village as the pirates invade Alexandria Bay in an attempt to take over the town. If victorious, Pirate Bill Johnston will receive the key to the village from the Mayor and the merriment will continue! Dusk Light up the Bay- Boat Parade. Keep your eyes on the river for a spectacular lighted boat parade. Join in and decorate your house, business, boat, or riverfront property. SUNDAY, AUGUST 10 12:00-12:30 Pirate Skit - performed at Cavallario's Bayside Pizza 12:30 pm Buried Treasure - Scenic View Park Beach marks the spot to find treasure buried in the sand. A special thank you this year to Hearts for Youth for their assistance with this event. Also, thanks to www.dresslikeapirate.com for their prize donations. 2:00 pm Raft Races – Launching will be at Scenic View Park Beach. This age-old tradition of homemade rafts is one of the many highlights of Pirate days. Teams & individuals paddle their way to the finish line. Open to anyone, call the Chamber for details. Prizes are awarded! 3:00 pm Duck Races – Scenic View Park – Seventh Annual Duck Race – Buy a chance to win $500 if your duck crosses first. Proceeds to benefit, Alexandria Bay Minor Hockey Association. 3:30-4:30pm Balloon Sculpting with Bone Daddy at the Entertainment Tent. MONDAY, AUGUST 11 10:00 am Little Pirate Adventure Cruise on Uncle Sam Boat Tours – All Children 12 and under, dressed in Pirate apparel will board the mighty vessel free, for a two-hour, two-nation cruise. Pick up the day's password at the Entertainment Tent to tell the Guard! 11:00 am Fight a Pirate – Children may assist the Town Guard in defeating the pirates at the Village Pavilion – at Scenic View Park. 12:00-1:00pm Children's Pirate Magic Show – Catch the comedic antics of Pirates Dave and Paul under the Entertainment Tent on the corner of Church and James streets. 1:00-2:00pm Archaic Weapons Demonstration – Tales from Remikreh will display and explain a variety of weapons and their use at the Scenic View Park. 2:00-5:00pm Reptile Exhibition – Snakes, frogs, and lizards, Oh My! Go to the Entertainment Tent on the corner of Church and James streets. 4:00 pm Pirate Skit at Uncle Sam Boat Tours - Tales from Remikreh a display of skill in this exciting performance 4:00-6:00pm Balloon Sculpting and Juggling – Pirates Dave & Paul Jackman will be entertaining in the streets. Look for the twin Pirates as they stroll around town for the children, creating pirate hats and swords from balloons 5:00 pm Pirate Skit at Cavallario's Bayside - Tales from Remikreh a display of skill in this exciting performance. 7:00-8:00pm Children's Magic Show & Games – Catch the comedic antics of Pirates Dave and Paul under the Entertainment Tent on the corner of Church and James streets. TUESDAY, AUGUST 12 10:00 am Little Pirate Adventure Cruise on Uncle Sam Boat Tours – All Children 12 and under, dressed in Pirate apparel will board the mighty vessel free, for a two-hour, two-nation cruise. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13 10:00 am Little Pirate Adventure Cruise on Uncle Sam Boat Tours – All children 12 and under, dressed in Pirate apparel will board the mighty vessel free, for a two-hour, two-nation cruise. Pick up the day's password at the Entertainment Tent to tell the Guard! 11:00 am Fight a Pirate – children may assist the Town Guard in defeating the pirates at the Village Pavilion– Scenic View Park. 12:00 pm Archaic Weapons Demonstration – Tales from Remikreh will display their weapons, show their skills, and explain the weapon's uses at the Scenic View Park. 1:00-2:00pm Various Route 12 Locations – Tales from Remikreh sword fighters will perform for your enjoyment. 4:00 pm Pirate Skit at Uncle Sam Boat - Tours Tales from Remikreh a display of skill in this exciting performance 4:15pm Magic Show with Obie O'Brien- The amazing magician will perform at the Entertainment Tent. 5:00 pm Pirate Skit - Cavallario's Bayside-Tales from Remikreh a display of skill in this exciting performance. 7:00– 8:30pm Concert in the Park Series– Scenic View Park Pavilion, sponsored by, DealMaker Auto Group, featuring the Norwood Firemen's Brass Band. THURSDAY, AUGUST 14 10:00 am Little Pirate Adventure Cruise on Uncle Sam Boat Tours - All Children 12 and under, dressed in Pirate apparel will board the mighty vessel free, for a two-hour, two- nation cruise.
