Blogging Again Soon :)

I hope to slowly crawl out from under the mammoth that is our beloved Bill Johnston's Pirate Days. It has been an enormous amount of weight with all of the behind the scenes work that needed doing. I worked a full time and part time job this summer on top of it all. I want to begin unwinding my mind so that I can write again. The blockage has been time to write and the flow of my words stopping. I may attempt a short look into the mind of a 1,000 Islands Pyrate as she sailed under the colors during a full attack on the town. Would ye be o' a mind t' read such things?

Honored By My Pyrate Brethren
Current mood: loved
Category: Life

Yesterday I were taken by surprise at work. Me pyratical brethren 'n' sisters came t' pay me a call at work. Bill Johnston (a.k.a. Alex), BJ, "Terrible Terry", 'n' Debbie came in t' honor me wit' a plaque. On it is qouted, "Many thanks lass! We couldn't have done it without you." I was stymied I tell ye. I got a wee bit damp 'round me eyelids. I were proud t' carry the weight o' our 27th year. Does a soul good t' know she can navigate treterous waters, keep fires put out and make it through t' the smiles at the end.

Now the end work takes place 'n' the plannin' for 2009 begins!!!

Reminded Why I Work on Bill Johnston’s Pirate Days So Much
Category: Life

Yesterday lads 'n' lasses I was given a reminder as t' why I work so hard t' see Bill Johnston's Pirate Days successfully through each year.

I were trainin' the new folks helpin' wit' the kids crafts yesterday. I had a million things t' do on top o' that. I was feelin' pretty frustrated o'er a lot o' things connected wit' BJPD. Puttin' on a $28,000 event be no easy burden.

So as I were helpin' a lady approached me. She asked if I would take a pic wit' her friend 'n' the friend's daughter. I always take the time t' do pics wit' folks. This time though was an emotional one. The lady told me her friend was dying o' cancer 'n' had two t' three weeks t' live. Her friend brought her daughter t' BJPD for one last wonderful memory. It was a much needed reminder o' why I work so hard on this event. To know that a dying woman wants t' spend her precious time at our event is amazin'. So I gladly did the pic 'n' rounded up several more scallywags t' honor the lady.

So not only was I humbled by the experience, it gave me new strength t' deal wit' the internal issues we are constantly bombarded wit'.

I ready my ship

To set course for blue skies

To leave this old port

Cloaked in its dismal grey

To be alone on the sea

Where no man can get to me

Wind upon my face

Salt smells and gull cries

Freedom away from civilized bondage
