Think Lady Luck are 'too cool' since appearing in a recent issue of Pavement? Well, a 'silent' interview from Luck bassist, V, also features in the latest issue of Hamilton fanzine, The Electric Flower. Check it out to see what she'd do with 125 sparklers and a bottle of Bernadino and for other insights into the band. Follow this link for inquires: www.myspace.com/theelectricflower

SUGAR, SPICE AND ALL THINGS NICE
It tastes sweeter where the grass is greener down south ...
Wellington's Lady Luck will make their South Island debut this weekend, performing at Christchurch's 4 Square Festival on Saturday night.
Christchurch Arts Space, Creation, launched a new event this year titled the 4 Square Festival. The festival was envisaged to act as Christchurch's equivalent of a fringe festival.
Tying in nicely with Lady Luck's second single that recently made an appearance on NZ Alternative chart, 'Sugar Daddy', Lady Luck were the only Wellington band invited to perform at the rock'n'roll component of the festival, titled 'Sugar & Spice'.
4 Square organisers say the Sugar & Spice gig will be a night of "musical diversity", with Lady Luck performing alongside funk and hip-hop ensemble Master Pilot, electronic female vocalist Lotus, dub-reggae and drum'n'bass outfit, Taos Collective and bogan punk duo, Pit Stop Nymphos. DJ's and MC's will be giving away a selection of limited edition band merchandise in between sets.
The 4 Square Festival provides space for artists from a variety of disciplines in a supportive and creative environment, featuring art exhibitions, book launches, performance art activities, and most importantly, rock'n'roll gigs.

PARTY PAPARAZZI
LOVE IT OR LOATHE IT
Well it turns out that where there's a Lady Luck gatecrash performance ... there's the party paparazzi not far behind!
Party snapper Petra Jane managed to get some shot's of Lady Luck's surprise gig in Hamilton on Friday night. Log onto http://www.petrajane.com for images of Lady Luck partying alongside The Crazy 88's and The New Caledonia, performing at at Duane's Birthday Party at country-themed Diggers Bar.
True to Hamilton form, Lady Luck's lead singer Rachel gave Birthday Boy Duane a run for his amp-climbing money, climbing right into the rafters, well equipped with red cowboy boots to fit in with the country vibe of Diggers - yee-haw!
Lady Luck then sauntered up to Auckland the following night to join rap-n-rollers Coco Solid and crazy cats The Blunts for another show. Photographer's Andrew Tidball and Milana Radojcic were there to document the occasion, and you can check out their shots here: http://www.cheeseontoast.co.nz
Hope to see you Wellingtonians at Room 101 this Friday night - should be a killer show with Lady Luck joining lycra-wearing Charlie Ash and art-rap collective Trimasterbate for the first time. Ooh and Aucklanders, we'll see you at Edens Bar next Friday night with the Cash, Tri crew and electronic DIY master, Disasteradio in tow.
x Lady Luck

SCENE STEALERS
Wellington’s up and coming team up to party like its 1999
Electro-poppers Charlie Ash, disco-rockers Lady Luck, art-rappers Trimasterbate and electro-pop master, Disasteradio are getting together to make a scene in Wellington and Auckland next month.
Charlie Ash, Lady Luck and Trimasterbate perform at Wellington’s Room 101 basement bar on Friday 2 September and at a Wellington showcase gig at Auckland’s Edens Bar with Disasteradio on Friday 9 September.
At just under one year old, Charlie Ash first made a name for themselves in Wellington by creating an award winning musical called ‘BOX’ for the Fringe Festival. The band describe their sound as neo-new-wave post-with influences from Debbie Harry, Souixie Sioux and Cyndi Lauper with a hint angular rock-guitar slipped into the mix for good measure. Never without their matching outfits, and usually in lycra, Charlie Ash stay true to their by-line: ‘its showtime, synergy’.
Older than Charlie Ash by only one month, older sister Lady Luck play cheeky rock tunes, taking a love of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Motley Crue, Fischerspooner and Led Zeppelin and turning it into foot stomping, disco-laden rock'n'roll. Lady Luck recently released their second single to bFM airwaves, ‘Sugar Daddy’.
Art-rappers Trimasterbate combine a medley of rap and beats by your favourite early nineties artists. Trimasterbates’s yelling and chanting MC’s and their suggestive dance moves are backed by the masterful beats of a Casiotone keyboard. With a single synth beat and three MC’s all contending for the microphone, Trimasterbate give new meaning to live karaoke.
Since the acquisition of his first family computer at age 6 (the mighty Commodore 64), Disasteradio has been fascinated with the possibilities of synthesised sound. Disasteradio mixes electronic sounds and special effects with pop melodies to create quirky electronic music and danceable new wave synthpop tunes.
Wellingtonians, be sure to dress to be seen at Room 101 on 3 September. Aucklanders can get a taste of Wellington’s scene at Eden’s Bar on 9 September.

LADY LUCK RETURN TO AUCKLAND THIS SATURDAY 27th AUGUST
Hot on the heels of the release of their second single to bNet airwaves, Wellington based rock outfit Lady Luck return to the big smoke to play their second ever Auckland show with rap'n'roll duo, Coco Solid and rock'n'roll duo, The Blunts.
Lady Luck play cheeky rock tunes, taking a love of Colour Me Badd, Blondie, Pet Shop Boys, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, The Rapture, Fischerspooner, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Kills and turning it into foot stomping, disco-laden rock'n'roll.
They made their Auckland debut with Coco Solid and The Blunts earlier this year at K'Rd's Edens Bar and rumour has it that the lead singer climbed the rafters of the bar and sang most of the set looking down at the stunned audience. Here's hoping the amps at Kings Arms will be safer this time around.
Mischievous Auckland duo The Blunts are the kind of act that makes you wonder what's going to happen next; they can make you feel hot, sweaty and slightly on edge every time they play live. When they played in Wellington earlier this year, they caused such a ruckus that their debut single, 'Weapon of Mass Destruction', hit the top spot on Top 11 Chart on Wellington's Radio Active very shortly afterward.
Rap'n'roll duo Coco Solid have an ability to seduce live crowds with a booty-bass and trademark electro all their own, too. Last time Coco Solid played in Wellington the duo's hip-hop bravado and rock'n'roll attitudes accidentally enthused members of the audience to perform onstage with the electrorappers during their set. The Kings Arms show with Lady Luck and The Blunts will be one of Coco Solid's last in New Zealand, before the duo head off to play dates in Europe.
FOR THE RECORD
