5:06 AM - Even cuter without a uterus...

For Lent, my cat gave up her reproductive organs.

I gave up sanity.

We're both better off.

3:10 AM - Soliciting Volunteers

That's right, I'm a big, dirty ho-bag and I need your help...

I've been working on a new book, called "Just Painting The Crackhouse".

I need your help.  I'm past the half-way point of completion and I need some fresh eyes to check it over and give me some *constructive* feedback.

It's a concept book, unlike any chapbooks I've seen kicking around lately, and actually, it's not going to be a chapbook, it's a pretty frigging huge project, combining written word and my majorly weak visual "art" skills in a tremendously Lo-Tek format.

So, now you've been briefed - subject matter is visceral and some is purposely intended to make the reader squirm.  I need you to look past any genre preferences you might have and judge the work based on its own merit and what you already know of my writing style.

WHAT I NEED: I'm hoping for at least 3 people I can toss a copy to who are willing to give detailed feedback.

WHAT YOU GET FOR YOUR EFFORT: When the project has been printed, you get a free copy of the book and bonus CD "Suck On This Illusion of Life" and of course, my eternal gratitude.

Please respond if you're interested.

Thanks,
Paisley Rae

1:43 AM - Holy Shitting Jesus, that didn't just happen did it?

Heaven is...

Waking up on a Sunday morning, sandwiched between two guys, whose names remain unknown, who are wearing more eyeliner than me...and bolting for the door amidst a flurry of marriage proposals from both.

It is written in the Holy Texts:

5:27 PM - Won't somebody save me?

Won't somebody save me?
I'm drowning in this liquid night
Day for night, night for day
There are ten thousand moments waiting to be lived
I cannot sleep
I have not slept
And I will not sleep again
Not alone
Not in time for salvation
As the waking dead, I act more alive
Than I did ever before
I am more real
When I am detached
From what you consider the truth
Of days passing into nights

There is no hero
Coming to save this damsel in distresses
Burning herself in a wedding gown
No longer chaste
But solitary
Living is damnation

9:13 AM - I'm human again....

I'm exhausted.  In a good way, I mean, this will pass, but nevertheless.

Wrapped up recording the last track for "Suck on This Illusion of Life".  The only thing left is to drag Kevin into the studio and record the bonus track, but that's not as big a time pressure.  No music to compose for that.  The rough cuts are posted on my coffeehouse page Check out Upside Down World.  I'm going to leave them up there for download until June 13th.  Then they go bye-bye, you'll just have to buy the CD, whenever I get the time to really polish the tracks and do the layout for the insert.  I'm excited, I have a lot of my photography to add in.  It's been a really great experience.  Chirpy and I are already planning the next CD.

The tour planning is moving along.  I'm excited about it.  I've done two recording sessions with another producer, Mitch Girio, and the rest of Last Call Poets.  But that's a separate CD project.  It's cool.  I'm really thrilled to be working with these guys.  It's going to be a lot of work, but in a good way.

I start a new job on Tuesday.  It'll be good, I'll be working the night shift which leaves me free to roam around town during the day shooting film.  I'm awake half the freakin' nights anyways.  Plus, it's one of those jobs I can do while scribbling in my notebook.  Those are the best.

9:25 AM - Life is what happens when all of your plans fuck up...
Category: Parties and Nightlife

Just Talking Shit

We record our words
These steps into our co-mingled future
The one we will weave together
The more interesting takes are those that never hit the board
The in-between rambling shit and laughter
Always laughter

We drive the Gardner
Locked into the highway parking lot
In Shawn's Mom's car
St. Christopher looking on as we
Trash talk anyone not in the car
Wondering why, as we draw closer to the Burger Temple
Kevin grows silent
But its with concentration

I go outside to smoke
As I await my Greek-style LambBurger
Valentino presses his business card against the front glass, near my head
Making call me motions
I unzip my sweater
Fluff up my cleavage
Wave strangers in on the joke
Inviting them to a threesome that will never occur
We eat
We talk
We rag on everything under the sun
I get set back
A new viewpoint on old perspectives
Men are so good at yanking me out of my feminine skull
Shaking loose old things I dont need to carry any more
We leave
Wander the aisles at the LCBO
Pronounced Lick Bo

At my place
TV on
Arranged on couches and chairs
Drinks in fists
The Sens get their asses handed to them by the Sabres
Open another bottle
Pop another can
Dig the cork out of the cognac, the wine
Chug that sweet Martini Rossi
Bets neither won nor lost
Feel the burn from the bong, inhaled too deep
Sweaty nutsacs
Hairy Asses
And Gay Sex
Dominate the conversation
Interwoven with the truth
Diminish the lines between us
Find those things we have in common
This is Saturday night
Theres a two-toke pass circling

Real friends sit on the couch with your legs flung across them
When youre too high to stay upright without assistance
They let you throw a blanket over them
And turn out the lights
Pretending they've already gone home
They stay until they can barely get home
Say anything for a laugh

I fall asleep to the image of a topless Christian Bale
Flickering between the flatscreen and my sliding eyelids
Drifting off
Mumbling shit to the dog

9:02 AM - What do you do when you're stressed and freaked out?
Category: Art and Photography

BREAKFAST OF GODDAMNED CHAMPIONS
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I always feel weird working with a new producer.  I actually have to bolt out the door right now to go for a recording session.  I should be excited, but I really don't like unknown elements when I'm recording.  How did I deal?  Look at the table and see for yourself.

I'm too stressed for my own fucking good, need to back that shit down a few notches.

I have a million performances between now and June.  One at the Victory Cafe tomorrow night, some fundraiser.  23rd - Coffeehouse Cabaret with Lucy, I think.  I'll be hustling people to make guest appearances during that set.  The whole collaboration thing is going well for me.  June 11th - WordJam, don't know who else is on the bill yet.  Dude fucked up my bio on the webpage, but I can't be bothered to email him.  June 13th - Canadian Poets night - covering Len Gasparini at the Art Bar.

Fun fun fun.

Tour planning meeting on the 21st.  Gotta get Logo and Design specs as well as edit a shitload of poetry so I can get kicking on the layout design for the book we'll be hawking on the road.  "Words to Your Mother".  Funny.

All this, and hold down a dayjob.  I seriously need to find a way to make art pay the bills.  I can't do both anymore.  I'm worn fucking right out.
