If you're on the Bunko list, send me a message and I'll get my address to you.  Even if you're an alternate! I have a feeling quite a few ladies will be missing.

7:51 AM - How our standards have changed!
Current mood: chipper
Category: Life

At dinner last night with some fellow mommies, we were all quite blown away by one woman's man. He was a neat freak. The best example she gave was that they went out to eat for dinner but he cleaned the kitchen that night.... after having cleaned it that morning and the night before.

Several of the mommies were drooling.

She gave us example after example and quite a few of the other ladies were starting to turn green with envy.  My friend Tara exclaimed, "A man who'll clean?  THAT'S SEXY!!"

Our standards for what constitutes a sexy man sure have changed!

Ripped abs? Tight buns? Dreamy eyes? Twinkling smile? Witty reparte'? How about someone who will pick up his socks, change dirty diapers without being asked, enjoy bath time with the kids, understands that you need a break sometimes, doesn't miss the toilet, and cleans up after he shaves.  That's what turns on most of the mothers I know.

Are we asking for too much? Hell no!  We're asking for and expecting equal division of parenting and household tasks. Pinchable buns are a nice bonus too though.

10:43 AM - Please put me in Time Out
Current mood: aggravated
Category: Life

I spent an hour at Chipotle today with a new mommy friend. Yay me, right? Not really. I hardly remember tasting my own food because I spent the entire time playing referee to the two little bodies that I used to call my beloved children which were actually just shells of the children I know and love filled with demon spawn or aliens from another stratosphere.

What happened!?

Neither of them could stop whining. I was up, down, up down.  Don't throw that. Here play with this toy. Want to read your boat book? No, don't throw the boat bok on the floor.  Have a bite of meat. No you can't have Momma's soda. Don't spit out the black beans sweetie.  Here's your pacifier girly. Sit down please. Momma said sit down please. Sit. Down.  I'm sorry you're angry but you wouldn't sit down. Okay, sit in the chair like a big boy. Thank you. Stop stealing my lettuce!  Apple juice is at home sweetie. You can have apple juice when we go home.  Sit down please.

That's just a small sampling.

L just stared.

I don't blame her.

I think I scared her.

*sigh*

9:41 PM - Size matters
Current mood: calm
Category: Life

At 9 1/2 months, my baby girl weighs 20 lbs 7 oz. My son barely made 20 lbs at 12 months.

By the end of the summer, both my children will be wearing the same size pants/shorts/bottoms.

That just blows my mind!

I know Baby J's growth will slow down soon and she'll thin out a bit once she starts walking. But it's insane that my children will be 12 and 31 months and wearing the same size clothes!

2:00 PM - Ever want to say what you REALLY think?
Current mood: annoyed
Category: Blogging

I was reading a woman's blog earlier and she described how she berated her two year old, drug her home because she couldn't carry her, then berated her husband for being a hypocrite because he carried the child (evidently he thinks the mother carries the child too much and complains about it). The child threw a tantrum, threw her pacifier into the street then tried to go into the street to get it. The mother yelled at her and yanked her almost all the way home. Then when her daughter was vomitting from crying so hard for so long, she berated the child even more.

Everyone who has responded has said nicey-nice things like "You're not a bad mom.. we all go through it"... "You need a break..." ... "Just love on her ...."

What I *want* to say is that she IS a bad mother to treat her daughter with such disrespect and meanness!  Doesn't make her a bad mother all the time, but she really failed her daughter in this instance. She made one bad choice after another that resulted in demostrating that she can't control her own temper; she doesn't respect her child enough to give her appropriate discipline at the time of the incident; she acted out of anger instead of love and nurturing.

I want to tell her that her inability to step outside of the situation and mother with love even in the tough times will make a lasting, and negative, impression on her child if she can't find a way to get through it.

But I'm choosing not to say anything.  I'm not sure why.  Probably because I know 2 cents won't make a difference anyway.
