Summer? no thanks.

Well then.
Who knows why summer is soooo hot. And I live in Edmonton. What do I really know about hot. Probably nothing, but if its anything like the stuff we get in summer, I kind of hate it.

Oh my

My head is spinning. Its a good spin. A new spin. And if there’s anything I love, its when life is exciting, and new, and challenging.

My head is full of "what if’s"

Ya, those and alot of "why’s"

But its so amazing. You’re amazing.

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y FIGHT!!!
Current mood: ashamed

Well....what a stupid weekend

Every once in a while I still lose it. We got in a huge fight, and then I lost it.

As I was cleaning up the box of tums that I smashed on the wall, which of course caused a huge mess alll over the place, I was thinking "What the hell, I've been cleaning up stupid angry messes since I was 13 years old, I need to change"....

so well, we'll see what happens.

Hopefully I don't get any indigestion any time soon.

A book I just read
Current mood: mellow
Category: Writing and Poetry

I couldn't wait to open a Christmas present....it was weird, I felt like a little kid again. This year I was ACTUALLY excited about Christmas happening, although I did spend one day in bed dreading the outside world because I got sick of seeing, hearing, and all other intrusions of the small parts of hell Christmas puts me through, but it was good. And the excitement paid off.

Not just because of presents. I'm old now, I only get like 7 or something, when back in the day I remember being like "THERE'S MORE!!?!?!?" but these days I'm happy with anything.

We did the whole family thing too, that wasn't so bad. Food was awesome of course.

So ya, back to the present thing...I opened a box from Michelle and it was a book that I've spotted and thought I'd like to read, the Steve Martin book entitled "Born standing up" its kind of about his stand up career and how it sorta came and went pretty quickly but not in a usual sort of way.

He was into magic primarily but ended up doing comedy full time for a few years...and his ride was pretty amazing. Sold out colleges and clubs and theaters and ARENA'S all across the states and I'm guessing elsewhere too, maybe a bit in Canada or something, but this all happened before I was born. throughout the 70's I'm pretty sure.

It was inspiring, but it did remind me that the comedy road is not easy and not even really simple, its work, but with dedication and a strong drive it can be done...anyways, he had "it". The timing, the content, the originality...everything. But then it kinda reached its peak. in the book he describes a particular performance at a club in Vegas and it was the first time in a while that he noticed some empty seats, then his jokes didn't go well...so he quit. Not all at once, I think it was gradual, but he realized it was over, the ride. And he didn't want another turn I don't think. He of course continued into a succesful movie career and whatnot since then, but that was his stint in stand up comedy, he became the best, and then finished. But man does he ever have some funny stuff. And his writing's really good. Basically not like mine...haha. (hey, its 2 am)

If you wanna borrow it, lemme know, I read it in one sitting, it was that good. I think it might have been the only book I started and finished all year...but it did kinda remind me how much I love reading....so I'm gonna read more. later.

Winter blanket
Current mood: okay
Category: Life

Isn't that crazy? You start enjoying the fall and all of a sudden you have to wake up 20 minues earlier than usual to shovel the walks....ya, me too.

It got cold fast didn't it? I remember thinking not too long ago, maybe a week? 10 days? I was wondering when the snow was gonna hit. And then...it snuck in on a friday night when we were all busy doing other things. Ah winter, you silly bitch....

No sooner did the snow hit as did the days of me starting a new job that includes working outside...I haven't had to bundle up in so many winter clothes since I was 10. Bit somehow I DO stay warm...10 hours a day in the cold would suck if I was cold the whole time. And I'm learning so many new things, I hardly notice the time go by. Yes, my new plumbing job is a nice change, and just enough of a challenge to keep me on my toes. No getting lazy here. At least I get along with the boss.

Nothing says highschool dropout like having a boss who is younger than you.

I did a little segment on shaw tv, that was cool, apparently at least 4 people saw it. That makes me happy. The only problem is I'm not one of those 4, I haven't seen it yet.

Today is "Christmas prep" at our house. Michelle is pulling out the decorations and lights and candles and even coffee mugs that are only good one month out of the year. Oh, and she watched all 3 "The Santa Claus" movies today....thats pretty good.

Hopefully you're making your way through winter with a skip in your step...so as to stay warm and keep afloat...I'm trying to stay postive...

Lets have a coffee sometime.

Whatever
Current mood: hopeful

Hey y'all.

So what have I been up to lately. Well, I've done a few comedy sets. 2 actually. Its not much but its friggin fun. And I'm getting the itch to do it more, so I'll let you know when and where.

On the music side of things, I haven't worked on much lately. I've just concentrated alot on my comedy writing. But I have gotten some new song ideas come within that process as well. And I always have a guitar close by in case I really feel like digging back in to the music. I worked pretty hard on demo's for the new album and then I kinda took a break. I was just working on the songs and realized that I'm not sure which direction to go with this next recording. Now I'm kind of looking at it thinking I'll scrap it all and write new stuff. But we'll see.

Work has been good lately I guess. I had a stupid busy weekend last weekend. I was the DJ at a wedding on saturday. Until after midnight and then at 7 I had to get up and drive to Rocky Mountain House, do a 45 minute appearance and then drive 3 hours right back home. It was a weird day but it went well. And I didn't fall asleep at the wheel. I got to work with Michelle too which was pretty cool.

Anyways, thats about all...I'll be back.

The why and whatfor and whatnotall...
Current mood: mischievous

Well. At this very moment, I seem to be enjoying some ragtime piano genius. Joplin something,... Good stuff...no flies on that....

It makes me for some reason want pie. Peach maybe. I guess because its spring...and for some reason I get all these wacked out pictures in my head of what spring is...but to me...its nothing. Just...time. Neat. A bit sloppier on walkways and whatever, but basically...I have to keep doing what I'm doing...I'm part of that system.

So...time goes.

This joplin fellow really is a drag.....
