The Trees

The trees are coming into leaf
Like something almost being said;
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief.


Is it they are born again
And we grow old? No, they die too.
Their yearly trick of looking new
Is written down in rings of grain.

Yet still the unresting castles thresh
In fullgrown thickness every May.
Last year is dead, they seem to say,
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh.

people i miss: peany baby, the twins from jacksonville, lisa (get out!), brendan, spiff, the johnny rocket crew, frank and lianna, joey and heidi, jaime my girl, rachel, saki and steph, all of dimestore and philmore and hil and kimberly and jb and baker and stacie, and that group called skanabata from hawaii and those moms who took us around alaska and red letter someone and the girl named kris from 5o'clock and alex and relient k boys (men now) and the guy who prayed for you before itchthis fest and the moshers and crowd surfers and freakstock and miriam in europe, and maya in taiwan and molly's mum emily and crazy israel and the south african dance bands and olivia the band, feish who i see at shows, and uncle tudy and uncle pete and car.

Reese and his 5 Iron friends...

Ok kids, here's the scoop. Many of you have contacted me to ask if Five Iron is having our reunion show at Inside Out Soul Fest this summer. Sorry to tell you this is not the case. I love that fest, and it would be rad to play again, however as it turns out none of us are likely to be there. My hope for the new band I am in, Nathan and Stephen, includes playing fests but I doubt that we would be ready by this summer. Hopefully next one. So, since you kids are relentless I will try to contact the peeps in charge of fests for 2008 to see if N&S can play. As for the rest of the FIF members, I am not sure if they have plans for their musical projects other than Denver. Thanks for being amazing fans, for your love and tenacity! Leanor
