 all is ok!  health, house, happy!

had a panic attack on the way to the doctor's - convinced it was going to be bad news - but all is ok!!

we were approved for the house we wanted - it's beautiful! on  a hill with lovely decking leading out for a nice view... i'll post photos when we move...

and my writing is coming along... have nearly completed two sections... if all goes well then i should have about six finished by Tuesday... then it's just a couple that have lingered behind this whole time...

i'm starting to get excited... new house... finishing phd...

finally got a book of stein's lectures from Amazon... had been searching for that book for ages...

i'm ok.

Exhibition Launch!!

it's the Creative Connections Exhibition Launch today!!

I'm MC  hope i can swallow my nerves!!

very excited but tired... long story... we were at Royal Perth Hospital last night until about 4am...

everything's fine - just a scare!!

i've prepared my speech... am reading to roll!

i'll post some pictures and poems later!!

wedding bells

my little brother is flying out to las vegas to get married next week   they're getting married by an elvis impersonator

and they're having a cake which is cupcakes and twenty four little carrots on each one...

i'm happy for him... although have had a little cry because i want him to stay my little brother... getting married is so... grown up! he's the first of my siblings to tie the knot...

it's all good...

and i've accepted that i will probably spend the next six months freaking out about finishing my doctorate... a lot of people have said it's normal...

i guess what upsets me the most is the thought of waking up in the morning and not having this collection to work on - after three years together we are very much entwined...

calculating the cost

had a very inspiring afternoon at the print department... 

basically... the paper that i want and ink etc for each copy of my book will cost...

$140!

which doesn't include the hours it's going to take for me to lovingly hand print each page...

so my dilemma... i need three copies for examiners... i did want around eight copies - for family and special ones as well...

that's a lot of money!

money i don't have...

and this week i've had two bookstores wanting to settle accounts  for book of days... (end of financial year i guess...)

i've never expected to make money from poetry... but i'd be very disappointed if i couldn't go ahead with it because it's too expensive...

there must be other ways...  hmmmmm

words are energy sparking on the line... fire crackers and broken telegraph poles litter the sentence... all i can do is pick my way around and try not to get burnt... smitten with the flashing...

i've spent the past days editing like crazy... frustrated with deletions which leave fragments wide open... try to seal them in with a kiss... pat them dry...

wish i still had the smashing pumpkins to look forward to... all my imaginings... my wishes falling my stairways my stars...

emptying... but they're still here... right here...

monday blog entry
Current mood: cold

my feet are freezing!! but it's a beautiful day outside...   blue sky shining...

the reading on saturday went well... all of the readers were wonderful... and... despite my nerves... i enjoyed reading my new work...

i spent a bit of time on the weekend preparing submissions and looking at writing competitions...  interesting to note that some competitions include blog posting as publication for the purpose of competition... this is something i didn't realize... since blog posting doesn't usually count as publication... (competitions don't usually accept poems that have been previously published).

i also had a bit of a myspace clean up... and took down most drafts from the new collection...  i need to focus and regroup... it's a matter of weeks before i finish and i need to pull all my energies together... to feel the weight of the entire book and what it means to me...

so this week i'll be working hard at it!!   my lists of things to do is getting longer and longer

i need to find socks...
