My bday party for French tv at the Houdini mansion
Current mood: your mom
A few months ago I was contacted by producers at Canal Plus which is more or less the HBO of France regarding an upcoming five part series on Los Angeles that would run during our election time. Never one to turn down an opportunity I was already excited, but then I learned the program was to be hosted the delightful Antoine de Caunes who I absolutely LOVED as the other non Jean Paul Gaultier host of Eurotrash. After meeting with producers who had me in mind to be the underground guide to LA, it appeared to be a bit of a logistical nightmare to take them all around town to meet all of my fabulous and freaky friends. Since my birthday is shared with Marilyn Monroe on June 1st and that was around the time they wanted to shoot everything I suggested why not throw me a fabulous soiree (see, I'm already practicing my French) and meet everyone in one contained location. The only problem was finding a location that would be fantastical enough to hold all of them in one place. I already adored my friend superstar DJ Jason Savvy for wearing diapers and sock garters when DJ'ing the Golden Gals Gone Wild show, but I owe him something really major now as he provided the connection to secure the legendary Houdini Mansion for my party.
Not sure how many of you know this but I am absolutely obsessed with Houdini and living in LA all of my life it's the kind of thing where you pass by it a million times but never think you'll ever really be able to explore the property. The home is now owned by mega producer Rick Rubin who on occasion rents just the property for events. As if a birthday party at Houdini's home with 200 of my closest friends wasn't exciting enough, I've decided to rent real live monkeys (you may remember them from my 23rd birthday if you were there) and a moon bounce to just take it to that Lenora level. I'm just so excited you have no idea. I also have some really fantastic projects coming up that I'm not sure I can talk about just yet but the ones that I can talk about include being in a short film about Oblong and the Countess directed by the charming Mike Anderson who directs a little show you may have heard of called the Simpsons. Not sure when it will be complete but I promise it will be hilarious. I'm also honored to be included in the update to L.A. Bizarro my all time favorite book on Los Angeles. They'll be covering my crazy shows and projects and all I can say is I bought the original book ten years ago which served as a guide to many of the strange things I love now so being included in the update is just amazing. Oh and here is the art for my birthday invite as created by the genius Ed Mironiuk. Ed and his wife Kris are not only amazingly talented but give me hope on finding true love. So inspiring. Just like Houdini and his wife Bess.

LA Weekly + Warhol+ Saying goodbye to a frenemy
Check out this awesome article on the WOW Gallery by Lina Lecaro in the current LA Weekly
If you didn't have a chance to make it to the amazing opening reception for Warhol Dead at 21 at the World of Wonder Gallery (6650 Hollywood Blvd) this weekend you still have almost six weeks to take in the silver walled madness. The shows at WOW just keep getting bigger and better. It's so exciting! Thairin, Steven, and James really did a great job with this one. I wasn't able to get any decent photos of the art because the place was so packed but Thairin got a few that you can see on the WOW report as well as here on the LA WEEKLY slideshow
With the beautiful Vylette
Matheu Brooks, James St. James, and moi
With Gidget Gein who it was sooo nice to see. It's been way too long.
I don't usually write anything terribly personal on my blogs because it doesn't feel like an appropriate outlet but there is something I would like to share with those who want to listen. I recently learned an important and expensive lesson. It may seem obvious to some but I'm the stubborn type who sometimes needs to get "burned" to really pay attention. Just because something or someone gives you superficial joy, artificial pleasure, or an excess of something you may have felt you lacked, that doesn't mean it is quality. Much like candy is enjoyable as you gobble it up, in the long run it isn't good for you and you know that. That isn't to say one should deny themselves certain pleasures, it just means to be smart about it. Ask yourself is this behavior really beneficial or just a distraction? Without going in to details I'll just say my candy went from Willy Wonka sweet to face puckeringly sour. Rather than popping some back in to my mouth and hoping the sugar coma would end, my once favored affection confection had to be disposed of when it became tic-TACKY. Let me tell you getting rid of it has proven to be a lifesaver. It was a hard candy lesson to learn but I'm out of my junk funk now and ready for something that won't rot my teeth. Don't worry boys and girls. I don't want you to think with all the euphemisms that I was dipping in to the rock candy because that wasn't it. It was more like a bad cadbury egg managed to gummi worm it's way in to my life. But now I'm done with the candy and everything is dandy.

My latest show + B(.)(.)BS = photos galore
Things have been so crazy I can't believe this is the first post I have been able to make about it, but Lenora Claire presents MERRY TITMAS was everything I had hoped it to be and more. I want to take a moment to thank all of the artists who really outdid themselves, the gorgeous as they are generous guests who helped raise a ton of money for the Los Angeles chapter of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation, and of course World of Wonder who besides putting out some of my favorite tv/films are doing a wonderful thing by opening up this amazing Hollywood Blvd. gallery to weirdos like me. Anyway, if you weren't there you will just have to check out the slideshow the LA WEEKLY so kindly has made for you. The most amazing mix of underground celebs like the iconic Annie Sprinkle, Warhol star Mary Wurnov, Margret Cho, Chris Crocker who as Warren Ellis jokes is on the way to becoming the next Jeffree Star, LOGO's Love Transamerican style star Calpernia Addams, to fancy entertainment industry people and crazy drag queens. I was also THRILLED to have Polite in Public there with a GORGEOUS I dream of Jeannie bottle style set for their installation art meets photo booth set up. God I love those guys. Here are a few of my favorites but you can see them all in their full glory here I had so much fun doing the windows
Margret Cho dug my show. Boobies edited and photograph taken by Austin Young

With my little sister Joy. Oh and my outfit was by Versatile fashions of course
Austin Young, VH1's Rock of Love Brandi C., myself, Chris Crocker, and WOW producer Thairin Smothers
With my old friend Count Smokula
OMG Annie Sprinkle and Austin Young!
With Weaven Steven and his beautiful creations
I have to admit I kind of love that people like Dan Savage are making such a fuss about the "controversy" surrounding the show. Whatever, like I say all the time anything that gets people talking about art is a good thing. I did tons of interviews with the media this time around but the most bizarre moment was when I had my first psuedo paparazzi moment when this guy started taking photos of me through the window as I gave an interview to Current TV. Speaking of You will see an entire episode of the Current Tv show Max and Jason devoted to Merry Titmas as well as this super fun pod. Watch it but excuse how beat I look. We literally filmed that on break from hanging the show and I hadn't slept in two days. In other fun news retro slideshow enthusiast Charles Phoenix has asked me to play a little part in his holiday show @ the Disney Redcat Theatre this Tue-Thur so if you're in town make sure to come and check it out. I also wanted to share these hilarious photos of me choking Sam from the World of Wonder Xmas party. Man those Polite in Public guys are fun.
Oh and how much do you love that dress by Stop Staring

Golden Gals makes TMZ, NPR, National Enquirer...
Whoa, I have all kinds of crazy things to report. As you may have heard everyone is talking about my upcoming show that opens August 11th at the World of Wonder gallery storefront at 6650 Hollywood Blvd. I couldn't be more excited about the show or more proud of the artists involved. I feel very fortunate that the media has started to take notice. Stories about the show have been appearing on blogs for months but thanks to a feature on TMZ that really broke the story I've been doing major interviews that will appear in publications such as the National Enquirer (OMG) The Globe, Chicago Tribune and about a dozen others I can't remember right now. This is all on top of the features in Los Angeles Magazine and Bizarre from a few months ago. One of the interviews I was most excited about is this six minute piece on NPR's Wait wait...don't tell me show. Just click "bluff the listener" to hear it. I've also got some really exciting stuff to report but I think I'll wait until it's physically in my hands to announce it. Ok, so here is the major info for the show
Not only are you able to read my writing in Frontiers magazine, but in the current issue you can read all about me! I'd also say that I can't believe my good fortune in getting to work with such talented people let alone being able to call them friends. Photo by the amazing Austin Young andd styled by the magnificent Mathu Anderson of course art by the always entertaining Ed Mironiuk.

And here is Austin Youngs version of me as the young lady/old lady illusion. Amazing, just squint your eyes and you can see both.

Warhol stars & the Golden Girls
One of the things I love about living in Los Angeles is that when your plans don't work out for whatever reason, something equally exciting always comes along. Sure enough my friend James St. James (you all better run out and buy Freakshow ) invited me to come along with him and Thairin to a panel he was part of on the history of drag at at Cal Arts. I always have a blast with James and Thairin but when he mentioned that Warhol superstar Holly Woodlawn and Flawless Sabrina from the 1967 documentary The Queen were on the panel I couldn't say no. I piled on some lashes and a fall and off we went. The panel was put together by an AMAZING boy I am just in awe of named Zackary Drucker . At 23, beautiful little Zackary has already worked for Paper and Blackbook and has been named as part of Out magazines hot 100. He was also on the short lived tv show Art star. His photography is as gorgeous as he is. Anyway, it was such a pleasure watching Zackary the queen of Cal Arts organize the panel that coupled legends like James, Holly, and Sabrina with todays rising stars. I can't even begin to explain how cool it all was talking to Holly as the tossed down her scarf given to her by Halston himself at the beautiful kids that caught her attention. I hope they understood what the passing of her flowy sequined torch really signified.
Gorgeous Zackary and Flawless Sabrina. This photo represents the night perfectly.
 James St. James looking divine
I love that crazy Holly Woodlawn. Looking forward to shooting with her!
Me with Flawless Sabrina. Pretty amazing for almost 70!!! Being the Maximalist that I am I had to follow up such a crazy night by taking in my friend the amazing Jer Ber Jones show FOWL I can't say enough about it. I saw it 3 times and I could have seen it 300. I was overwhelmed by the music, and moved by the dance and visuals. It's a little weird to be completely enamoured with a good friend but I've had to come to grips with it. In fact I'll come out and say that right now my biggest artistic inspirations are people I hang out with. Glenhanson , Austin Young , and Robbie aka Jer Ber...you all blow my mind. I love all my friends of course but I had to single the three of you out because you're all inspiring me in a unique way. Oh and of course crazy Thairin whose walk/talk sessions have been such a motivation. Make sure to check out our project FART After all, it's up to us to put back the F in art. Ok, so where were we...Yes, as if all this wasn't enough Rue McClanahan aka Blanche Devereaux was in town for a book signing and you know I just had to go. I called up Mark Berry from Bizarre Magazine who is doing a story on my Golden Gals Gone Wild art show for a photo op. I figured this might be my only chance to do such a thing so I took down the nude Bea arthur painting off my wall in hopes of getting a photo of Rue with it. James documented the stir I caused at the signing which was later written about by some fun random blogger who totally loves me Hilarious!
Me with Rue McClanahan aka Blanche Devereaux by Mark Berry for Bizarre magazine. In other Golden Girls news I just can't get enough of this piece Ed Mironiuk did for the Golden Girls show and check out this hot Golden Girls t-shirt Glen Hanson made for the show. He's been selling them out like crazy at A Different Light. Eat my Spanx.

Keeping with the art bombardment I attended the Silverlake Film Festival a few days later. Some of the standout shorts were the AMAZING "Eat, Eat", "Color Me Olson", Austin Young's beautiful Hadda Brooks documentary, and Jer ber Jones music video for Only You Great stuff!
With Fadera at the festival. Oh and in other news I'll be interviewing Lynda Carter aka WONDER WOMAN, working on my record with Jer Ber Jones, and a book project with Glen Hanson. Oh god and I almost forgot. I started taking driving lessons and I put down a deposit on a Smart car So yes, I'll be driving just in time for my 27th birthday (june 1st) Crazy! Oh and I nearly forgot to post this link from a few weeks ago when Elvira was at my house. Thairin had her dump the contents of her purse on to my couch to take photos for the WOW report. See anything familiar there?

Giving the heartland a heart attack-Pigs in my blanket
A few weeks ago I was flown out to be a guest at the Feast of Horrors convention in Wichita, Kansas with my friend Gidget Gein Having never visited that part of the US I really had no idea what to expect and was a little concerned about how this neon-haired fag hag would go over in the bible belt. Not to mentioned my heavily tattooed travel partner and ex consort of the devil himself, Marilyn Manson. Driving from the airport to the hotel we couldn't help but notice (and I say this literally) a bar and a church on every corner. Thankfully all of our concerns were lifted when we made it in to the safety of the hotel and had a chance to meet with our delightful hosts. I'm just going to come out and say it. Kansas is my conservative nightmare. Having visited I can now answer "Oh, that's who voted for Bush". However, I truly feel that the only cool people in town attended the convention and they couldn't have been any nicer. They really made Gidget and I feel like superstars. I'm still in touch with a few people I met there and I have a feeling I will be for a long time. Signing autographs.
Since it was St. Patricks day after the convention Gidget and I met up with some of the cool kids for a little bar hopping. We had a ton of fun hanging out with everyone including the stars of Darkness the biggest horror film to come out of Kansas. Great guys! We called it a night around 2am and headed back to our rooms. I took a shower and got in to my pj's and started reading Michael Musto's new book which is fabulous by the way. Then all of a sudden I got a loud knock at my door. "OPEN UP, IT'S THE WICHITA PD" Omg...is the hotel on fire? So I open up the door in my pajamas and three of Wichita's finest ask if they can search my room. Knowing my rights I know I can refuse because they don't have a warrant but I don't want to cause any trouble with the convention or the hotel so I allow them in. They search my room claiming that someone from the hotel has reported that I'm in the room using drugs. The corpulent cop that stinks of mayo claims he can smell pot. Anyone who knows me knows that I can't stand hippie drugs. I don't even smoke cigarettes beyond the twice a year clove when I'm feeling goth damaged. So they go through my room and of course don't find anything. Officer Mayonaise was taking great joy in playing the bad in good cop bad cop and seemed genuinely displeased that my search came up clean. Being the smart mouth that I am I made sure to tell him "I hope there aren't too many drunk driving fatalities since it's St.Patricks day and all that you could have stopped when you were busy here harassing me". He slammed the door and left. Turns out some old hag in the hotel saw me enter my room that my sheer appearence freaked her out so much that she assumed I must have been high. Now, you can see what I was wearing from the above photo. It was super tame...how lame. Anyway, I'd still like to thank all of the people involved with the convention for being such dolls. Also, I think I mentioned getting my lips augmented for the first time for an article using the latest cosmetic filler called Juviderm. I think Dr. Kopelson did an amazing job. Here are the results. Let me know what you think.

Also, I just started working on my first album. Yes, you read that correctly. The songs will be written and produced by the AMAZING Robbie D aka Jer Ber Jones whose songs have been covered by acts like the Scissors Sisters. It's such a new experience for me but I love it.

Magazine Queen
I've promised myself that I'd try and blog more as people are starting to treat things as though they aren't real if you aren't able to google them. A few weeks ago my article Beam Me Up, Hottie about the future of sex (toys) was published in Frontiers Magazine I think you'll have as much fun reading it as I did researching it. I now have two columns that appear in every issue of Frontiers and I'm about to get a third. Not bad for a girl that still types with two fingers. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing my hairdresser and friend, the amazing Andrew Marlin about his unbeWEAVEable success as the co-owner of Purple Circle. The article is available here but I know how you all love pretty pictures so here is one of the gorgeous pics shot by superstar photographer Austin Young
I also shot shot some super secret stuff for a video project directed by Michael Medaglia with my friend, author of Party Monster and the upcoming Freakshow James St. James
Here we are in my kitchen. I'd tell you where we got the hats from but we haven't returned them yet. Oops. James and I also appear on page 190 of the current issue of FLAUNT magazine. I thought the pic came out cute.
Thursday March 8th I'll be appearing at the Food 4 Fish Fundraiser so come out and support alternative theatre. I'll also be playing a Vanna White type number turner to Michael McDonald from Mad Tv's (he plays Stuart) Pat Sajak at Legendary Bingo @ Hamburger Mary's Wednesday, March 14th. I've also been booked to appear as a special guest at the Feast of Horrors convention so if you're in Kansas March 17-18 I guess that's the place to go. I'm also hosting Hayden and Johnny 2.0's Homo Hop event at the Spider Club April 4th. If all goes right I'll be making my musical debut as well. xo

Dean Karr music video+freaks and photos GALORE
Wow, I've had an amazing past few days. It all started with the Diamanda Galas show which completely blew my mind. Then there were Halloween parties etc, and I was asked to judge the massive (500,000 person) Weho Halloween costume contest. I ended up getting there totally late not expecting the population explosion. Please tell me they weren't all there to see K-Fed perform. Anyway, the cherry on top of it all was yesterdays video shoot. My friend the GENIUS Dean Karr (directed videos for Marilyn Manson, Duran Duran, Busta Rhymes etc) asked me to play "the muse" and help cast a bunch of my sideshow friends for his super theatrical Boschesque video for Canadian band Billy Talent. I've never heard of them before but apparently their songs go to 1 in Canada and people are expecting this to be their breakout hit in the US. Well I can tell you based on the strength of this video alone I don't see how it couldn't be a hit. People went apescat for that My Chemical Romance "Helena" video and this one puts it to shame! Anyway, it would be naughty to post photos from the actual set but I'm sure you'll all see it on heavy rotation on MTV anyway. I also can't say enough good things about Dean and his crew. Wardrobe by Kurt and Bart , hair and makeup by Jennifer Corona , sets...everything was amazing. Jenn Rose was part of the crew and it was great to see her in action. I love having so many talented friends. Here are some pics of us goofing off in hair and makeup.
Me and The Enigma who is performing at Safari Sams on Sunday. Also, thank you Warren Ellis for giving me and the photo a shout out on your site.
 Still by Dean on set
me with the lovely Evelyne Oh and I have LOADS more which will go under the cut but here's another pic of me from Peter Palladino new book Alternative Hollywood.
