A Dog Eat Dog World

Dog owning city dwellers are familiar with the inter-workings of a dog-run. You go to the fenced in area with your four-legged friend, pick a spot to settle in and let your dog off of its leash. The dogs wag tails, sniff butts, and run around playing together. The people are another story. The predominance of them will sit on a bench, burry their head in a book or plug in ear-buds in order to avoid interpersonal contact with other humans.

Now, if a dog is interested in mating with another dog on that dog-run you will know about it. The interested dog just jumps on the back of his selected female and begins humping away, which will usually get the owners to break through the barriers they've created to break the union, to stop their dogs from creating puppies.

But what happens when two dog owners begin to take an interest in each other? How do they know if it is just dog-run fun or if there is some romance building between Frisbee tosses?

Could ALL of your friends be wrong?

Have you ever met and dated someone who made you feel like a different person? Did you ever do things for that person that you haven't done for anyone else, ever? Were your friends warning you that the relationship might not be all sugar-and-spice, but you were too caught-up to listen? It has happened to a good percentage of us.

One of my friends at Datespaces sent in a question about how far she should take things with a guy who she has been acting out sexually with. I am all for PDAs (public displays of affection), and applaud people in a relationship where doing it outdoors is a turn-on and they enjoy themselves, but when it is all new to one person and that person's friends are shouting from the rooftops that they see big, bright red flags waiving, is it time to take a step back?

The oh-Oh-Oh-lympics!

I don't know about you but I love the Olympics! It conjures up memories of childhood dreams of being the next Nadia Cominich; flipping across a balance beam with the greatest of ease, and the best part, standing atop the podium, holding the coveted gold medal! I get tingly when I see the athletic prowess of the competitors from every dot on the globe.

I just got a question from a reader who is a Chinese-American woman. She wanted to tell me that the summer games have spiced up her sexlife. I was happy to read all about it. She also wanted to know how to keep things revved up once the closing ceremony has come and gone. (Yes, I slipped a pun in for fun.)

Two years is a looooong time.

It is a long time to put into a job and not get a promotion, to put into a sport and not win a trophy and to put into a relationship and not have mutually satisfactory sex. I've gotta hand it to one of my readers who stood by her man and did her best to try to resolve a really small problem he was having. She even asked one of her doctors what she should do. Well, of course, she came to me last. I hate to admit it, but I sometimes am a last resort of my readers. I would hope that one day I am the first place they come to get help. But for now, I am happy to help, even though it took two years to finally get to me.
