OH RADIOHEAD...

In a world full of fear and ripe with insincerity its such a relief to have met Radiohead.
They are purveyors of truth, beauty and a moral responsibility to the planet.
We've been welcomed with literal open ams and thoroughly schooled
on how to function as a band -not just musically, but ethicly too.
The honor is in learning from the best and from the beginning we've been in class.
The important thing for us to make clear is just how awe inspiring this production is.
We're not sure if there's any information made public about the efforts
Radiohead go to to reduce their environmental impact.
But, there should be.
At the outset we were all given tour water flasks.
Plastic anything is like contraband.
Every bus and truck runs on bio-fuel.
There is no idling, rather some new-fangled way to deliver electricity cleanly.
They don't do air-freight either.
The list goes on..
Everything is supremely managed to reduce the 'footprint'
and it's inspiring in that its 'real' and should set the standard for other big productions.
This all goes beyond the immediate impact of simply
being able to watch these 5 guys perform together each night.
Unlike any band we've seen they all contribute such an immense amount to the outcome.
Their extreme individual talents blending so naturally.
To witness this first-hand is an education in musicianship and vision
that's certainly not been lost on us..
For now, we'd like to send our huge thanks to the Radiohead crew
for being so super crazy nice and supportive to us.
We'll see them in Spain again for the Daydream Festival
and ofcourse during our West Coast tour with Radiohead in August -
so no tears yet..
We Liars head to Europe now...
following a luxurious 2 day break and will be re-tracing
some of the steps missed due to the euphoria of living in rainbows.

Love and Lobsters,
LIARS

Bjork Tribute Album

Hey, don’t know if you saw, but we contributed a cover of the Bjork song "Army of Me" to Stereogums brand new
Enjoyed: A tribute to Bjork’s Post compilation.
Covering any artist is really hard, but especially so when your admiration for said artist is gargantuan.
The interpretations of Bjork’s songs on this comp are honest and devoted creations
by artists with bucket loads of respect for her work.
You can stream or download the whole album for free!
Thanks to Stereogum for putting this project together.

May Europeans...

To the People in Croatia, Portugal, Ireland, Switzerland, Italia, Belgium and the UK we apologize. Our lavish plans to ramble through your backyards and townhouses has caught a veritable snag. Practically as soon as we’d squared away the details for our adventures with you an offer to support Radiohead arrived. Our immediate efforts to somehow co-ordinate both opportunities succesively failed. We tried valiantly to push and pull pieces of both tours together with no luck.

In the end, the reality was fairly clear. Though painful and troublesome, it seemed more possible to re-schedule our European tour than to re-schedule a Radiohead one.

Our particular apologies at this point go to the people who are most affected by this assumption:

The Show Promoters.

Barry Hogan - London & ATP
Paul Timoney - Dublin
Scotty O’Neill - Manchester
Nervo - Portugal
Gentleman - Switzerland
Live Nation - Belgium

Our fear is these people are currently under wrath from some of our more acktivist supporters...
Please know they are not to blame. It is us, not them, who are at fault.
If anything support these people in the wake of our mess and know they are trying their best in a damage control scenario.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and annoyance to all of you.
Hopefully we’ll be in your town before too long.
Love Liars

Technikolor Skull - Anger/Liars

On the 30th of April 2008, Kenneth Anger will present two new works at the Donaufestival in Austria. First up is the world premiere of his highly anticipated feature film Ich Will! (I want!) followed by the audiovisual live-performance project Technikolor Skull which features Liars and other special guests.

If there is one person who has anticipated the 20th and 21st century in pictures, if there is anyone who has created the essences for the icons of our time, then it has to be the film maker, author and provocateur Kenneth Anger. Since the age of 11, he has been producing films that turn conventional viewing and reception habits upside down. Under the influence of the occult world of Aleister Crowley, laden worlds of dream images have been created whose cut-rhythms have equally captured and created the world post-1945. The revolutionary use of music in his underground films makes him the father of video clips, collaborations with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page or Bobby Beausoleil are the starting point of his influence on pop culture that triggers an immense network of references, from subcultures to mainstream. Legendary films like Fireworks, Scorpio Rising, Inauguration Of The Pleasure Dome or Lucifer Rising not only make him an idol and the precursor of directors like Jean Cocteau, Stan Brakhage, Derek Jarman, David Lynch, Rainer Werner Fassbinder or Martin Scorsese, but also a formative figure of the imagery of the queer movement. His Hollywood Babylon books on the other hand, tabloid-style exposés about the darker side of Hollywood-society, anticipate the star cult phenomenon of the late 20th century and become international bestsellers within a short period of time.

Ich Will! is a study of the Hitler Youth - the Jugend. ItÂ..s a visual poem in which I make a parallel between the Hitler Jugend and the Wandervogel movement which preceded it. ItÂ..s all a case of male bonding and exploiting it for good or bad. Just kids going out and sleeping in the forest and hiking - that sort of thing. Of course I have an ironic twist on it.
