"You and me," Said the raindrop to the seed "WE'll make a winning team won't we? Cause when I fall down You'll become a pretty flower And I'll be finally free From the shackles of this cloud
And the sun will shine And we'll make the most of life Come, we haven't got much time 'Cause all living things must die But I will nurture you 'Til your petals turn to white And you will hold me close Until the last drop of me dries"
'Cause you and me We have each other And that's all we need The place I'll call my home Is anywhere that you will be You and me We'll never make a mark on the shape of history But I'm glad you came to make your mark on me
So darling when I lie down I hope you'll be around To lay your roses down over me 'Cause I'd never keep To watch you fall asleep I wouldn't last the day Without you standing next to me
Through a satellite lens We are just a tiny speck Oh, of little consequence In the greater scheme of things But from down here In our private little sphere The colours are in focus And the picture's crystal clear
'Cause you and me We've got each other And that's all we need The place I'll call my home Is anywhere that you will be You and me We'll never make a mark on the shape of history But I'm glad you came to make your mark on me
Yeah I'm glad you came to make your mark on me.

This totally reminds me of my mom writing songs when I was little, and playing it for me on guitar. Geeze it's totally corny, but profoundly beautiful.

First off...Had loads of fun hanging out with The Duncan sibs, Cara, John, Aubrey and Cooper this week...Found some beaches, bars, good times, and made friends with a cat named Chicken.
Realized Kate and John literally live 2 miles from me. Small world.
Okay, so the blog title. Well, had nothing going on last night, and the need for a coctail kicked in as it tends to do. Kris Kelley suggested a possible exploration of the Hollywood area, and I decided to join in.
First stop- Pig N' Whistle..total bust. The DJ was seriously playing a track from Night at the Roxbury, and it wasn't Haddaway. Took a shot, drank a black and tan, and we hightailed it outta there.
Second stop- Powerhouse. Crucial dive bar. That place was awesome. Got myself a PBR (on tap) and started to thoroughly enjoy my evening. The guys however weren't diggin it, and decided to go to a house party in Silverlake, and I thought I would just hang. So this guy walks up to me, and asks why my friends left me, and I explained I was content just hanging. He tells me that I should hang out with him and his friends, and I thought, why not?
Enter the producers of Jackass, some skateboarders, the really old sort of scary/homeless looking man from the show, and Ryan Dunn.
So we're rocking it out, having a good time when it's last call. I get drug by the crew out to Hollywood Blvd to go check out these cars. Apparently there was some race in Tokyo, and I find myself in the center of Hollywood surrounded by millions of dollars of suped-up ferraris, porches, lambos, and any and every other fancy-turned-racing mobile you can imagine. Basically they belonged to people that had more money than they knew what to do with, who spent it on fixing their shit up and shipping them all over the world to show everyone just how rich they actually are.
All in all it was a fun time. I felt super LA when people would ask me for my "access pass" and the guys assured everyone that I was with them. I somehow found my way back to my car at some point, declining a hotel invitation, and made it safely home (not sure how.)
Today I hung out with Bowditch for a minute, stopped in at this uber ghetto arcade just steps from my apartment (we won 2 bug finger puppets) and I just finished laundry. Emily Frederick and P//N Amy--you are both losers for not returning my call.
Oh...recent vinyl acquisitions:

i had to have a retail therapy evening (ignoring multiple financial red flags) in order to get over myself, and i think for once, i may have felt God himself smile down upon me.
My initial reasoning was i needed a new bra (true) so i drove around LA until i found the beverly center (apparently it was no where near where i'd remembered). finally picked up some goodies and on my way out, despite my better judgement, strolled into banana republic. Those who know me understand that my current fashion sense (or rather lack thereof) was not always how i presented myself. i LOVE BR. I will love that establishment until the end of my days.
Ramble. ramble. Anywho...I got the BEST steal in arguably all of time. BR shoes ain't cheap. But let me tell you kids, 3 amazing pairs...all leather; one wedge, one flat and one killer pair of heels for..DRUMMROLLLLL....$70. !
Go ahead...let those eyes bulge. curse my existence.
Wanna know how much i saved on said shoes? two hundred and fifty dollars.
Now i have to try and figure out why shoes make a girl feel better. Maybe it's the delicious red wine i'm drinking. Maybe it's the fact that i'm listening to ryan adams and daydreaming about what i'd like to do to him...either way, my day turned out okay.

Thoughts on last night...
The Music Box, as a venue was pretty cool...AWESOME rooftop smoking "lounge"
Peanut Butter Wolf = Great
Totally entertaining, great mix of music and video, shameless self-promoter, and really nice guy. The crowd didn't seem to be into him, but i would say 89% of the reason was 1. most of the kids were 18 and UNDER and 2. because of this (and the fact that the headliner was Chromeo), they probably didn't know who Pantera or George Michael were, or expected to hear anything other than synthy funky dance music.
CHROMEO...
I thought they were okay. One of those things where now I'm like, been there, done that. They didn't try to expand on their songs at all, which totally disappointed me. I mean, it's partly due to the type of music, but really, how hard is it to strum like 3 chords and push some buttons on a keyboard? Whatever. Vocoder and light-up keyboard legs made up for that I guess.
What impressed me (and this could solely stem from the fact that I'm from KY which has no venues or true "all-ages" shows) was the ability of these TWO dudes to get a sold out crowd (of right under 1,400) to go nuts. I must be used to punk. Or maybe I'm just that small-town. Everyone was moving as a unit it seemed. Completely involved. It was weird. And as boring as they were, no one cared. Everyone was totally entertained. I was sucked in.
Best part of the night...someone threw panties on the stage. Jesus.
Also...my toe is completely fucked up...two weeks later. anyone know a podiatrist?

First and foremost, keep my family in your thoughts..my little sis needs a lot of love right now.
I am STILL waiting on moving into my new apartment...there was a huge iron burn on the carpet and I (to my landlord) was like look, I'm paying $1000/mo for like 380 sq. ft. so REPLACE THE FUCKING THING..and I totally live in the middle of Mexican gang-ridden territory. AWESOME.
Had a fun 4th of July involving a monumental burger grilling competition and A+ alcohol consumption..no fireworks though, but they are sort of overrated anyhow.
Getting pumped to go see Chromeo on the 30th
Got tickets to go see Sigur Ros in October @ the Greek Theater..SCORE!
Got free tickets to go see Minus the Bear @ Jimmy Kimmel live..DOUBLE SCORE!
Speaking of Minus the Bear, they just put up their Daytrotter session MTB Daytrotter...daytrotter always delivers!
found some good socal bands for any and all interested:
Living Suns
Cavil At Rest
Union Line
Abe Vigoda (new album released today)...if Vampire Weekend was less pretentious and more creative and you couldn't understand a damn word they were saying... + panda bear.
and this band from Florida..diggin' on "Look Mexico"...sorta like Minus the Bear's kid brother with the vocalist from Cartel...plus they have an awesome 2D music video on their Myspace page that one of the band members did the artwork for.
Annnddd....that's a wrap.
Send money.

I was at the sold-out Iron Maiden/Anthrax show last night in Irvine (thanks Shayna for the ticket!) for FREE. Could be the best show I've ever seen. The dude to chick ratio was like 30:1. Amazingness.
And somehow, completely SOBER, I lost my debit card. LAME.
Brent and Jac found me an awesome Ikea dresser on the side of the road..free=sweet
I went to the Paul Mitchell Hair school and got my shit jacked up. Highlights suck and I fixed my haircut tonight. boooooo...it's a damn good thing I wear my hair super crazy and huge.
I spent my entire Sunday painting a damn bathroom.
Miss you Kentucky folk! Call Me!
