INSANISITY
Current mood: artistic
Category: Music

Not too long ago I came upon this band called "Green Milk from the Planet Orange" (Tokyo). Needless to say the name intrigued me so I decided to give it a shot. I was not excepting what I had found...

Their Music literally knocked me out of my seat. The Trio's claim of being "The new wave of progressive Rock" Falls nothing short of DEAD ON. I even went as far as checking them out when they came to LA on March the 10th. Their preformance  was INCREDIBLE! The song that they played was so prog that it was beyond prog. They played one song ( Due to the many bands on the bill that night ) and it was 40 minutes long. It started out soft with just the drums, then the bass entered, then the guitar then finally the vocals. Over the duration of the song there were countless swells between loud and soft, fast and slow. And they had all the progressive elements ( Long guitar solos, Tempo Changes, Time sig, and Odd time sig changes, multiple motifs etc..)

Anyway I got to hang out with them as well. After talking to the Guitar player who has been playing for 16 years, he proclaimed his obsesstion with Yes, and King Crimson. The bass players main influences included Pink Floyd, Rush, Black sabbath, and Miles Davis.

They are still on tour and HIGHLY recommend them. :notworthy

1/14 AND 1/15
Current mood: nostalgic
Category: Music

WOOT! Well you should all be glad that LA had a huge marathon of music this past weekend. Pajan and the hashimotos laid it down hard as we are getting ready for our first show of the year! It was glad to be back in an environment where the musical chemistry was good. For those of you going to the show on the 20th we are sure that you will not be dissapointed. Our set should last around 45 minutes (longest ever). Plus we have a brand new, never heard before, 11 minute epic that will surely knock your socks off!!!!

Funny story Hash I and I were up until 4 in the morning writing this song and recording it on the computer when all of a sudden LOGIC CRASHED!!! AND 4 HOURS OF WORK WAS LOST! it was sad because the song sounded really good too...

oh well...

now for some pictures!

Definately the coolest part of the night was when they played Untitled 8 Behind a curtain (This was how they started their show) As their Last Encore.

It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. The buildup was HUGE and the Song Ended with a crash From Orris drums, Then at the same moment Jonsi Droped his guitar on the ground which gave a loud distorted cry that rang for over a minute after they left the stage.

HERES A VIDEO OF THE LAST 30 SECONDS where the song ends and he drops the guitar.

One Crazy Weekend 9/9-9/10
Current mood: horny

Wow what a weekend we had all of which was leading up to our gig on saturday night. For a very long time it seemed destined that [ h K ] wouldnt play, but things did work out, with a catch.

It all started out with [ Demension ] droping out of the gig. Then on friday on the way up to practice [ h K ] drummer "V" was stung by a bee on his finger! It was pretty bad he was complaining up through the gig... i couldnt blame him his finger had swollen to almost 2X its normal size.

So we finally make it to "V" 's house alive and our singer ryo shows up 3 hours late; which leaves all of us discouraged. We only had one hour of full practice on friday. Going into saturday I was hoping that our bad luck was going to be set aside. I was wrong.

So I arrive at around 11 am at "V" 's house and he and our 2nd guitarist [ Maika ] and "V" where wide awake eating breakfast but [ Ryo ] was still asleep. We eventualyl woke him up and practiced until 1 when we need to go to GUITAR CENTER OF LAWNDALE to pick up the PA system. So we where given directions by "V" 's sister. We went on our way but after spending an hour on the 405 we quickly realized that the directions we where given where incorrect. We turned around and tried again. We eventualyl found the right off ramp but a woman on the freeway pointed at us so we pulled over to see what the problem was.

We had a flat tire.

So at this point its around 330 we need to be bak @ 5 to set up and do a soundcheck and we are stuck in the middle of Torrence/Lawndale with a flatire.

So we drive slowly to the back parking lot of the guitar center and pull out the jack and equipment, but we cant get the spare tire out from under the truck bed so we spent half an hour without the car manual trying to get the tire out but still no success. So V and I decide to go to guitar center and get the gear ready while Ken and [ Ryo ] went to autozone which was THANKFULLY right down the street. It took them around half an hour to do the job.

Now its around 5 pm which is the time we where supposed to get home and we are just leaving the guitar center. If my memory serves me correctly we avg 90 mph until we got to the 605 and got into rush hour trafic...fuk

Well long story short we made it bak in time for the suprise party to actually remain a suprise after overcoming

The loss of our lead guitarist
The Bee sting
Only 1 hour of actual rehearsal
Getting Lost
and
The Flat Tire

I contimplated whether all of this would be worth it or not. I think it was during our last song that we did out 10 minute cover of the ever popular " Purple Haze" when [ Maika ] Played the most amazing solos behind his back and with his teeth.

It was at that moment where I said to myself

yeah.

It was totally worth it.

and I would do it again.

No Questions asked.
