Help me go green Texans!
Current mood: focused
Category: Travel and Places

I'm looking for gigs in the Houston vicinity on October 14th and 15th. We will be coming from Austin and I'd like to have my van converted to run on greasel at American Green Fuels (http://www. americangreenfuels. net) while I'm there. The conversion takes two days hence the need for two gigs. Any ideas??

Happy July!
Current mood: chipper

I'm in a particularly joyous mood this morning because I'm going to the beach in a couple of hours:) Not only am I going to the beach, but I am going to the beach on my way to Mobile, Alabama to see Tom Waits in concert! What a fabulous way to escape the oppressive New Orleans summer, even if just for 24 hours.
I don't have a lot of new news but just wanted to check in with everybody and say hello. My trip to New York was fantastic! The shows and venues were amazing and I plan to come back up there by September. If you'd like to be alerted when I hit the road, please message me with your email address and I'll add you to the mailing list.
We have some fun gigs coming up next week aside from our regular Sundays at d.b.a. and Tuesdays at Mimi's. This Sunday, July 6th we will be at the National WWII Museum for their Swing Sundays series. There will be swing dance lessons from 1pm to 2pm and then we'll perform from 2pm to 4pm. Then on Thursday we will be at The Ogden Museum of Southern Art for "Ogden After Hours" performing from 6 to 8. Saturday we are making our way back to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to play the Thirsty Hippo. If you haven't experienced this club, do it. It's one of my favorite places to visit. Here's their myspace...http://www.myspace.com/thirstyhippohburg
Yesterday I uploaded two new songs to my page. "How Deep Is The Ocean" and "Rhythm In Me" can both be found on my 2007 release "Hot Wax and Whiskey". Be sure to check them out if you haven't already. I'm making plans to go back into the recording studio in September so keep and eye out!
Last but not least, my dear friend Ariella has done a wonderful job of sprucing up my website for me. Though myspace is much more fun, do try to swing by http://www.linnzizaorski.com and check out the new page.
Have a marvelous day!
xoxo

summertime in New Orleans...
Current mood: numb

I met a lovely man by the name John Crawford who was in town working on a film. He attended one of my performances at Mimi's In The Marigny and when he returned to Los Angeles, he sent me an email with these words that he wrote for me...

Fall moon poured through the slits of the old slated shutters
in the dirty New Orleans bar where you were playing.
It lay across your chest in that low cut summer dress
all white dots in a field of red.
Your blond hair pulled up tight in spit curls
and you sang a slow sad song of winters love.
I watched while you sipped from a rocks glass
of straight Johnny Walker Blue and wondered
how a girl like you ever learned the seasons
and all their pain.

With a slight tin voice sounding of old classic radio
you told of a love grown cold.
The trumpet played a soft tremulous tone and
I thought I caught a tear in your eye,
which you brushed away with your glass.
What's a little salt water in your whiskey
when your feeling alone?

The song you sang came to a long break
with the stand up bass and guitar keeping time
as you walked around the room, glass jar in hand,
collecting skant dollar bills from the smoke filled room.
I wanted to buy you a drink,
but wondered what a girl like you
could ever do with a man like me.

The tune came to a close with your head bowed low
thanking a crowd who would never know
it was your blue heart they were drinking to.
Just another lonely night in the Big Easy
with the band playing low.

Just thought I'd share it because I thought it was lovely.

coming back to NYC!
Current mood: amorous

Hello all my NYC friends! I've got some shows coming up next month in your fair city and wanted to give you a heads up:) I'll be sure to remind you again closer to the dates but mark down your calendars and be sure to let your friends know. You can just forward this message to them and ask them to check out http://www.myspace.com/linnzizaorski to hear my music and befriend me.

Here's where we'll be...

Friday, June 20th at Joe's Pub, 7:30pm (Yay!! Freakin' awesome venue!)

later that night...Banjo Jim's at 1am (should have a mild buzz)

Saturday, June 21st at Webster Hall opening for Richard Cheese (whom I've had the pleasure of opening for twice here in NOLA to sold-out crowds at the House of Blues, check him out at http://www.myspace.com/richardcheese)

and last but not least, The Lakeside Lounge on Sunday, June 22nd at 9pm where I'd be more than happy to get into the photo booth with you.

I'm very exited about my return to NYC and look forward to seeing all of you (and your friends) at the shows!

xoxo

What’s going on???
Current mood: focused

I want to take this time to offer an apology. Some of you may wonder why I have not returned messages in the last few weeks and I just want to let everyone know that I am sorry for that but I have been extremely preoccupied and focused on trying to get my pre-Katrina house ready for me to move back! As many of you know, I have been struggling to repair my house from the hurricane damages for nearly two and a half years now and it's finally getting down to where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My hope was to have moved in by my 30th birthday on March 3rd, however, it may be a week or so later than that now. I have been at the house working 6 or 7 days a week for the last few weeks and when I get home, I either am exhausted or have to go straight to a gig so my normal routine of answering emails and messages has sadly been neglected. I have had to put the music career on the back burner until I am settled. For this reason, I will not be booking any gigs (other than my regular weekly shows) until I am settled. Please understand that it is just too confusing for me to keep up my schedule while my living situation is so insecure. By April I should be up and at it again! The sooner I get in my house, the better!
Next month I will be taking a much needed vacation for my birthday so all all performances between March 13-26th will be cancelled. I'm going on a week-long silent meditation retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains like I did last August. On my drive up, I'm thinking about stopping in Asheville for a break in the drive. I've never been to Asheville but have always heard wonderful things about it so anyone with any tips on what to do or where to stay--I'm all ears! Because I will be gone half of the month, I do hope that many of you will make it to my birthday show at d.b.a. on Sunday March 2nd.
In other exciting upcoming news, my latest cd "Hot Wax and Whiskey" will be released in Japan on March 19th by Vivid Sound Corporation. It features a bonus track that's a real toe-tapper!
Hope everybody had a lovey-dovey Valentine's Day. I spent mine painting ceilings:)
xoxo
