LSD & PCP :SPLIT: In Progress!
Here's an update for the Little Sap Dungeon and Perception Cleanse Perception fans:
We are in the mid stages of the NEW LSD & PCP :SPLIT: box set. 100 limited 4 disc set in metal cases... bound with a chain and padlock. You may ask "why only 100?" Truth is..... no one buys CDs anymore. People have become obsessed with the simple MP3 format and will probably copy and file share our material once they have it in their possession. It's sad.... but true. We won't be making our money back on this CD. A lot of time and money is going into this.... and at the price we are going to be selling these sets, it's going to be a bargain most labels are going to say "why even fucking bother waisting your time and money?" We are doing this for ourselves and our close fans we call our friends. We like doing creative things with CDs. We like the packaging and having a hard pressing of an artist's work. Most of all.... we believe in our work enough to make this investment. I'm sure there's at least a couple fans out there that would appreciate something like this and that's all that matters. Does this mean LSD is off hiatus??? Lets just say there's a good chance this release might spark a reunion. It's still too early to tell and plans are uncertain.
:SPLIT: will contain: 1 LSD - "Sickness Beneath Transparent Beauty" (re-issue with a bonus track) 1 LSD - "Repressed Memory Therapy" (live DVD of "Silent Entities" CD release) 1 PCP - "Black Labyrinth Wonderland" ( new release / album debut) 1 LSD & PCP bonus disc with new remixes and rare tracks (remixes by artists will be named after all are chosen) ..... There will also be little fillers inside the cases as well.

Sometimes you'll discover a real gem in the current hausse of dark electro industrial bands. Little Sap Dungeon is such a gem. They have a complex dark sound which is remiscent to that of Velvet Acid Christ. Influenced by horrorthemes and gloomy atmospheres, Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily has atmospheric soundscapes as well as hard-hitting industrial beats. This cd has two new tracks of Little Sap Dungeon with 'Behind the Mask' and 'Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily' that really deliver. These two could easily match the better atmospheric tracks from VAC. This album is a remix album and this is their goodbye release after some 10 years in which Little Sap Dungeon was actove but unfortunately never got picked up by a bigger label. They have been wrong, since their music is very good and also has the potential to sell well when promoted properly. Unfortunately this never happened. Empty Rooms Breathe heavily has remixes by respected industrial names such Mick Harris from Scorn, Ultraviolence, Boundless, Circuit Surgeon, Synaptic Defect, Twilight Transmissions and PCP. This is not for the faint-hearted.

Little Sap Dungeon Empty Rooms Breathe HeavilyDungeon Recordings / Backscatter
Posted: Friday, December 01, 2006 By: Mike Ventarola
Little Sap Dungeon provides a sonic assault with the ability to knock down walls and fire up even the most timid of listeners.
Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily is not a gentle CD by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, the opening track, "Behind the Mask" pounds relentlessly while suffusing harsh life dialogue just under the music. With an unexpected twist, the song becomes more nightmarish and cold, pulsing and percolating the beats to a frothy rise underneath until the full out assault is repeated. One could contend that the lyrics are the disturbing thoughts of a serial killer just before he makes his kill. One needs to bear in mind that this CD is nine songs cut in half to deter bootlegging. Initially, this may cause some confusion with some, but nonetheless, the CD plays out fully without interruption. The title track, "Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily" takes on a more stylistic horror movie soundtrack style at the opening. This tone of unknown and unseen fear is brought to fruition by the pervasive isolation that the opening of the track conveys just before it becomes more mid-tempo. "Doorway Dweller" is my pick for the track most likely to be chosen for an action film requiring manic intensity with a heavy dose of testosterone-laden angst. This particular remix gets the heartbeats pumping until the second half segues. "Goblin Corridor" is that one track that everyone can point to when they want to describe what "oontz-oontz" sounds like. Oddly, in spite of the episodic single wind instrument, there remains something subliminally sexual with this particular track. "The Children Sleep" incorporates the childhood fear of the boogeyman. Just underneath the belly of the nightmarishly constructed song, there is a warning about predators lurking to steal one's child as well. It is quite remarkable that the synchronicity of the lyrics lend themselves to be a simple childhood horror story, or something more sinister for adults to fear as well. Should another film be created about a serial killer who eats his prey, "Dinner Guest" should be the track that they include with the soundtrack. It is disturbing as it is vivid and fully functional on its very own to jar the imagination of most.
Overall, the lyrics to these tracks are definitely earmarked for horror film inclusion at some point in time. The lyrical imagery is harsh, bloody, and unrelenting. It is as though we were given a peak inside the mind of a serial killer during his most manic episode. In spite of the execution and delivery of the release, the fact that there remained a repetitive theme of murder didn't impress as one would think. There are many out there who prefer there music as harsh as humanly possible, thus this is the release for them!

LSD - "Empty Rooms..." review by Side-Line
:::..: Thu Oct 26, 2006
--> google_ad_section_start--> Little Sap Dungeon - Empty rooms breathe heavily (cd Backscatter) This project seems to have already released a couple of CDRs and here emerges from the depths with dark electronic production. They still used a few industrial influences while a few songs become more atmospheric like. The opening cut "Behind the mask" is one of the high lights featuring cool sequences and icy atmospheres. The "Thresher mix" of this song by Boundless is another great piece of music, which only accentuates the dark side of the original version. Another interesting piece is the more into tribal constructed "In the dark". Notice by the way that Ultraviolence made a remix of the "Goblin corridor"-song, which is pure energy! There're a few interesting songs on this album! www.backscatter.biz (DP:6/7)DP.

Various Artists InterBreeding VIII: Elements of ViolenceBLC Productions
Posted: Friday, October 20, 2006 By: Ilker Yücel Assistant Editor
BLC's InterBreeding series once again falters in its attempts to bring us the latest and greatest in the electro/industrial underground, offering more fluff with few diamonds in the rough.
BLC Productions keeps the pace going with this, their eighth installment into their popular InterBreeding compilation series, bringing listeners the latest and greatest in the electro/industrial underground. At least, that's the idea, but as certain past entries have proven, it can be easy to miss the mark. Elements of Violence is yet another two-disc entry in the series, with many of the requisite acts on BLC's roster, as well as a few stars from all over the spectrum of EBM, power noise, and dark electro. With 35 tracks sprawled across these two discs, it can become increasingly nerve wracking to find those tracks truly worth listening to.
Kicking things off on the Bloodthirst CD is Y-Luk-O's "Resistance," as remixed by new BLC act and InterBreeding favorite Brainclaw. Whether it's due to Brainclaw's treatment of the track or Y-Luk-O's own talents, this track kicks things off nicely with some pumping electro and catchy arrangements. SMP also make an appearance with their trademark blend of hard kicking electro and hip-hop style vocals, while The Pain Machinery lives up to its name with a twisted barrage of power noise held together by a well developed song structure and mix. ESR's "Blood on the Walls" is also one of the better tracks on the disc, offering simply a well executed mix of guitars and synths, and Massiv in Mensch's remix of T.H. Industry's "Die Wut" makes for an excellent hard techno track with some impressive synthesizer sounds. Finally, a remix of Brainclaw's "This Human Condition," a track that already shows the band's willingness to expand beyond the simple hard EBM and industrial dance they're known for with its slow rhythms and waves of energetic ambience, is made darker with some good remix treatment.
The Brutality CD offers up much of the same, with several tracks like "Scarlet Design" by Invisible Asps and "Burn" by Anders Manga sending listeners back in time with their danceable '80s-influenced darkwave. LSD also rises to the occasion with the largely instrumental monster that is "Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily." With its slow yet effective beats, and its scathing layers of ambience and clashing sound effects, the track weaves a tapestry of industrialized bliss reminiscent of Skinny Puppy's instrumentals on Last Rights, though slightly less complex. Ending the compilation overall is "When the World Ends" by The Crystalline Effect. Starting with some classically-inspired electro and leading into a nice arrangement of dark female-fronted melodies, the song brings us to a close with one of the more musical moments yet heard across these two discs.
Elements of Violence is not without its duds, and the sheer abundance of them is enough to make one question the validity of continuing the series. Tracks like Schattenschlag's "Sentenced to Death," Process of Elimination's "The Sleepers of Telos," and "R.F.A. (Mekong)" by Stark are little more than the standard terror EBM, with plenty of hard techno beats and distorted vocals that many of us have come to either love or loathe. Funker Vogt make an appearance remixing Vigilante's "The Other Side," but in doing so also prove to be showing signs of waning due to the utter banality of their style. Other tracks like Acylum's "Tripe of Hate" and Necrotek's "Wish You Dead" try for a more creepy approach with synth sounds evocative of a horror film; while not the worst tracks of the bunch, they also offer little more than dance fodder for Halloween. There are also those tracks that give a good dose of hard-pounding EBM, like those by Implant, Wertstahl, and Ilion Conflict, but they simply don't go anywhere, leaving the listener in an unwelcome state of electro monotony.
In the end, Elements of Violence is a tepid experience, giving us less than it promises. Indeed, every track is full of energetic tempos sure to get your pulse racing, but that will only hold one's interest for so long before the need for something vaguely musically engaging kicks in. So many of the tracks here conform to the same old terror EBM formulas that one would be hard pressed to tell the bands apart; never a good quality, and a sure sign that some major changes may be required in the current underground electro scene. BLC's InterBreeding series has missed the mark before, so with any luck the ninth installment may yet bring us some interesting surprises; one can only hope.

LITTLE SAP DUNGEON Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily
Label: BackscatterA mix of dark electro and ambient, Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily comes armed with contributions by Ultraviolence, Mick Harris, and Synaptic Defect.
I understand the concept of splitting the tracks, which is a rather clever way of deterring piracy and its certainly better than idiotic beeps and other arrogant intrusions, but it felt like I was looking at a road map while driving every time I tried to determine what song I was listening to. I figured Id get that out of the way because it was bothering me, even though the music was seemingly seamless. A nice touch would have been to include the T = X:XX for each track set somewhere on the CD cover. Maybe next time. Simultaneously heavy on the atmospherics and programming, which is purposeful and necessary on a CD such as this, Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily works well on many levels, having both club appeal and ample textural detail for individual listening. As the CD title implies, there is a plenty of intensity, deliberate otherworldliness, and distant variables that pull the listener into the music. There is also a Skinny Puppy vibe on the CD, which can be a dangerous road to travel, but I doubt SP ever would have bothered to sample Mr. Rogers. That was creepy cool, even if it was in the dark.Michael Casano, 15 Jul 2006

LITTLE SAP DUNGEON - EMPTY ROOMS BREATHE HEAVILY |
This Album Is Dedicated To The World Not Yet Discovered Through A Door Only Sound Can Unlock lautet die Danksagung. Damit trifft Little Sap Dungeon genau ins Schwarze.

Empty Rooms.... review by Marc Tater / chaindlk.com

The nightmarish duo consisting of Kevin J. Cazier and Alan E. Wilson aka LITTLE SAP DUNGEON (please check back their interview somewhere on our site...) returns with a new full length CD which features some new tracks as well as a kind of retrospective of their highly acclaimed last studio work Silent Entities. Unfortunately this new release is also a kind of farewell compilation, because this damned talented act has to take a longer pause from all activities and the future of this act is really uncertain. The lack of time caused through studies, full time jobs, getting a young addition to the Wilson family, seem to make it impossible to work and produce music with the required seriousness. This is very sad to hear, more especially if you take a listen to the both new tracks of this duo here, Behind The Mask as the opening track, and the scary title track following afterwards. Especially Behind The Mask really kicks ass a tough and stompy Dark Electro piece with a dramatically produced melodic content yes, the comparison with some heavy SYMBIONT stuff is thinkable and allowed! It is definitively one of the straightest tracks this duo has ever been produced so far. Empty Rooms Breathe Heavily then slows down the breathtaking tempo of Behind The Mask, but this does not at all mean, that the title track is less interesting. This track is a perfect example for what LSD is known for through the years. A dark and depressive mood, uncountable scary voice samples, a lot of effects and noise to produce a detailed and filled background, and a rough whispered vocal inset are the winning points of this track, which documents impressive the preferences of LSD of being one of the best horror/splatter movie influenced acts around. Empty walls breathe heavily how can you doubt on this? Also for the remixes, it is generally noticeable that the tracks provide a stronger dedication to some dancefloor compatibility than ever expected. CIRCUIT SURGEON have laid their hands on Doorway Dweller, a rough instrumental piece originally, which was the opener on Silent Entities. Most of the rotating noise sounds get removed now, so that some aggressive rhythm patterns could find its way on this remix a well done alternative. This counts also for The Childrens Sleep remixed by TWILLIGHT TRANSMISSION the relationship to the original is hard to recognize. Thinks differ with the SYNAPTIC DEFECT remix of In The Dark, but this one plays well with the amount of given voice samples. Kevin J. Cazier finally has laid his talented hands under his solo project PCP on the track Phantasm and also Xon of BOUNDLESS has not to be missed here with his quality remix of the new Behind The Mask it is a bit more club-friendly, the mood also turns into a lighter feeling in comparison to the original. Also this release is a co-production between the both Salt Lake City based labels, Dungeon-recordings and Backscatter (www.backscatter.biz), and the nice DSBP should be responsible to do some mail order service. Get your copy of this, and take part on the funeral procession of one the most underrated acts around. I still hope somehow for continuation for this act... |
