family business

How much of a dork am I that my sister and brother are my friends on MySpace? Not to mention my niece.

My brother thinks I have a lot of hot friends, though.

Sunday blah
Current mood: blah

I'm being ever the slug today. Yesterday, I was up and out by seven; I went for a walk and took some nice, early morning shots over at the cemetery. Then I did four loads of laundry (and put them all away), did a sinkful of dishes, and went grocery shopping. Today, I was up early again, but I went back to bed around nine, and all I've managed to accomplish so far is lunch. It's cooler today, and clear after thunderstorms last night, so I might find the ambition to head out for a walk. Maybe.

Wow, Sunday night already?

I feel like I lost half the weekend. I spent yesterday at the SEF retreat in Deerfield, and today recovering from it. I did manage to get my grocery shopping done, and two loads of laundry, so I wasn't totally a slug. I still have dishes to do and clean clothes to put away.

My boy, George, is on the telly tonight. Ocean's Eleven is on at nine. I doubt I can stay awake for the whole thing, but I will be watching Gorgeous George in bed. Yay!

well, whew!
Current mood: relieved

I turned on the telly, expecting the series finale of Alias, only to see Oprah Winfrey on the screen instead.

What?!?!?

A quick check of the listings confirmed that my show will be on at 9:00. I'd hate to miss it, having seen all the other episodes. I want to see how it ends!

Saturday morning
Current mood: awake
Category: Life

Once again, despite plans to sleep in, I am up much too early. I woke up at the time I am usually leaving for work, which is an improvement, but I would like to have slept later. It seems I am incapable of sleeping late any more. Sigh...

At least the sun is out. For now. I'm going out this afternoon to the Barnes & Noble; hopefully it won't rain. It's the monthly Meet & Greet for the Woman of Wands chat group, and it's a nice group of folks. Mostly drama-free, and what drama there is tends to be amusing rather than annoying. Quite a bit different than other Pagan groups I have been involved in, and closer to the atmosphere of the SEF, which also tends to be drama-free. The only drama you'll find there is in the rituals, which is where it belongs. *g*

I was hoping to be able to go down to Stanley Park tomorrow, but they're calling for rain. Poo. Hopefully next weekend will be nice; it's Memorial Day weekend, the first holiday I've had since New Year's day. My company is stingy with its holidays. I've made tentative plans with some friends from the WoW group, who live in Lee, to come over and explore the park with me. They liked the pix I took there. :)

I suppose I should rustle up some breakfast now, and see what I can get accomplished before heading out.

well, hell

Quite bummed that I missed out on a free computer today. I was the first one to respond, but she decided to donate it to Katrina relief instead. Which, OK, that's a good cause. But! I could really use a newer computer, and it was a Mac, even. The one I have now has been a good one, but it's seven years old. Which is ancient in computer years. It was hard to be gracious about it. It was extremely disappointing. All day, I was thinking that I was getting it, feeling really excited (and relieved). When I finally had a moment to check my email, to find that I wasn't getting it, it was a big letdown.

Bummed now.

monday monday
Current mood: bored

I got out of work at 4:00 today, because I was over my hours. Usually I just work the extra time, but this week it was slow, and I was bored. So I left. Next week, I won't have that option because I will be there alone. Again. Argh.

It was another cool, grey, yucky day today. I could do without any more of these for a while, thanks. I went down to Heritage Park and took a picture of one of the crabapple trees, which is in bloom. I saw a bumblebee buzzing around the azaleas when I went out to fill the rack with papers. I love bumblebees. Dum de dum, scientists say I shouldn't be able to fly, yet here I am, dum de dum. Hee!

rant
Current mood: aggravated

I read a lot of other writers' blogs, and it amazes me how many of them are poor spellers. I mean, really. You'd think that someone who writes seriously would at least master basic grammar and spelling! I guess that's not a prerequisite any more.

One of the reporters at the newspaper I work for (she's also an editor) is shockingly bad. She once spelled 'psyched' as 'siked,' and it made it into the paper that way. Sheesh! They're really not very good at proofreading there. If I had the time, I would do it. I love me that red pencil!

I also proofread all my posts (and emails, I admit it) before hitting that 'send' button. If I find a mistake, I go back and edit it. Yeah, I'm anal about these things.

I have my thesaurus and my Strunk & White handy, on a shelf near my computer, for referral when I'm writing. I understand the need to have the flow going while writing a first draft, but for heaven's sake people, polish up anything other people (especially other writers) are going to be reading!

That is all.

LOL
Current mood: amused

So, I log onto MySpace, and the ad across the top of the screen has a picture of George Clooney being chased by lips, and says "Kiss George and get a free Razr phone!"

I would kiss George for nothing. ;)

wowza
Current mood: tired

Turns out that there are several Babylonians here on MySpace. Who knew? Hi guys!

This was the week from hell at work. Ugh. I worked way too many hours, doing too many other people's work, and running in place too much. But it's over. It's Friday, and I have the weekend to recover. I also have a couple of short weeks coming up: I took off next Friday and the following Monday. Go me!
