I got there VERY early and got about the highest and best spot on the cliff to shoot from. Was an awesome even and quite a crowd.  As Joshua was say its often rather boring to watch except for the few seconds of drop in time.

Congratulations to Greg Long for taking home the big bucks as well as everyone else who made the event possible.

10:38 PM - Canada and Costa Rica...pics..
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Travel and Places

I know its better late than never but i thought I would post up my Canada pics from my trip last summer and then also from my kiteboarding trip to Costa Rica last week.

The trip to Costa Rica was amazing. Went with 4 other Bay Area kiteboarding buddies and we spent 3 days kiting in Lake Arenal up in the mountains in the middle of the country then 7 days on a beautiful bay just south of Nicaragua. I even kited across the bay into the waters of Nicaragua which is highly illegal... but i had to do it!! The some kitefishing as well as night kiting which was quite fun.
I had my nice pro camera stolen out of the car but fortunately I had a backup camera in the hotel room so here are the pics (kinda crappy but they will have to do untill i get a new camera)

Canada Trip
I flew up to Calgary, Canada and met my dad there.  We then drove up to Banff National Park for a few days in the high mountains. Hiking on and around the shrinking glaciers. ( I peed on one of the glaciers and it melted away.. hehe jk)
Lots of wildlife everywhere,  bears, eagles, elk, deer, bighor sheep  Then down thru Glacier national park, Revelstoke for the Canada Day parade then over to Nelson in the Kootenay Region.
Then down to the Okanagan Valley which is the warm "desert" area of Canada to do some wine tasting and bought a canoe which we paddled around the many lakes in the area.

Spent two days in the Vancouver area then took a ferry over to Vancouver Island which is an AMAZING place. Definately was the highlight of the trip.
Lots of beautiful old growth trees, wildlife and beaches. Took a ferry across the border to the US from Victoria and spent a few days in the Hoh Rainforest which is the wettest place on earth.
Then around the Seattle Area for a few days visiting my Aunt and then flew back home from Seattle.

I hope you enjoy the pics and check out some of the other photos i have taken recently

1:01 AM - Merry Christmas
Current mood: hopeful

Happy non denominational, non descript, non offensive, politically correct, non gender biased greeting and salutation in reference to a special day of the year to you!
...to be politically incorrect..  Merry Christmas
I would consider myself to be spiritual but not religious but this whole saying "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" when in a store or on the street something is almost an insult. Dec 25th is to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the ideals and values that he would want everyone in the world to live by if he was here today. Its not about seeing how much shopping you can do or how much holiday cheer you have or how much you eat for Christmas dinner. Nor is it about killing, persecuting, or judging others because you don't share similar the same interpretations of the teachings of Jesus.
Sorry about the rant but its something that really has been bothering me lately. I think the events in my life in the past few weeks and few years of my life have really changed me alot.
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year
:) Erin

9:18 PM - Photos from South America Trip to Chile Bolivia and Peru

Photos from South America trip to Chile, Bolivia, and Peru
I am finally back from my month long trek up the western coast of South America and into the Andes mountains.
I started out in Santiago, Chile where I stayed with my friend Holly from California who is studying there at the University of Chile.
After about 9 days in the Santiago area I spent the next week or so taking buses northward up the coast of Chile.
Every day I would pick out a new town on the map and take a bus there and explore it.
Then I left the coast and headed up to La Paz Bolivia which is one of the highest cities in the world at about 13,000 feet above sea level.

Hiking in the mountains around Lake Titicaca at 14,000+ feet is literally breathtaking!
The air is so thin that taking a few steps and you are out of breath.
The lake is so large and beautiful its hard to believe that its at the top of one of the highest mountain ranges in the world but looks like a
tropical or Mediterranean sea.

Then I traveled by train into Peru where I stayed in Cuzco and visited Macchu Picchu, the famous Lost City of the Incas. It is an incredible
place built on steep cliffs in cloud forest covered mountains. From there I flew to Lima Peru where I had a 6 hour layover in which
I saw more of the city, beach and surrounding area than I could have ever imagined thanks to an excellent taxi driver/ private tour guide whom I randomly met!

The entire trip I just winged it and took it day by day and met soo many people.
I met lots of locals as well as other travelers doing similar travels as myself and some traveling for months or years thru dozens of countries around the world..
Every evening I would find myself at a dinner table or having drinks with a different group of people that I had met that day.
The conversations were great and involved sometimes up to 4 or 5 languages at once! LOL

Traveling there is VERY cheap!, My hotel in La Paz Bolivia was $1.25, an 8 hour bus ride for $6-10, 2 hour taxi cab $4!  Coming back to California was very tough..lol
It was definitely one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I look forward to returning there again soon but I have many more places to visit in the world first :)
I took LOTS of pictures and everyone has been asking every day about them so here they are.  There are over 1000 of them and many more crazy stories for each picture.

Here is the "BEST OF" gallery from the entire trip

Here the links to the full gallery of pics.
Warning.. will take an hour or so to look at, over 1000 pics!

3:25 PM - Surfing, sharks and breaking my surfboard :(
Current mood: Bummed Out

So I have broken my first surfboard while surfing.
It was pretty crazy...  I was screaming down a 20 foot wave,  when I saw a Great White shark at the bottom.  He had his mouth wide open and was looking me so I turned really hard to go around him and snapped my board in half. Here is a pic of my poor board

Haha naw actually I dont have a crazy story like that.. I wish I did for losing my favorite board.  Actually I was just paddling out in some small waves when a small wave hit my board in just the wrong way and broke it.  I had not even had a chance to get out and catch a wave yet.  Oh well, it happens.
Definately had some great times and memories with that board

11:59 PM - My Birthday this year, I love you all!!
Current mood: grateful

First off i want to thank everyone of my friends and family for making this years birthday awesome :)
So last year we had a HUGE party at my house for my birthday with several hundred people and went all out partying hardcore.  This year I have been so busy with work and traveling soo much that I decided i didn't really want to go all out on a party even though everyone has been buggin me to top last years party.  Topping last years party would just be too much work so i just kept it pretty lowkey.  Hung out with family and friends for the past few days,  went kiteboarding and had a great time.  I want to thank everyone who visited, called, emailed, myspaced, text messaged, and sent smoke signals wishing me happy bday. It really made my day and i will reply to you all ASAP :)
Love yah <3
So yeah im 28 now,  older. and hopefully wiser.. but who knows. hehe
