For Lachesis, LBF Books, and Sinful Moments Press Authors: Staff Groups
Current mood: busy
Category: Writing and Poetry

If you are staff or an author of Lachesis Publishing, LBF Books, or the upcoming Sinful Moments Press and you have not received or signed up to our staff groups yet, could you please e-mail me at: louise@louisebohmer.com or blackfaery76@yahoo.ca ?

If you have received a repeat invite to the Lachesis / LBF / SMP Update group recently, I apologize for this. Effective immediately, rules for the staff groups have changed, and the staff chat group is optional to sign up to. As for the Staff Updates loop, we ask that you please do sign up to this group. Rules have changed for the Staff Update group, so now only senior staff can post and only highly important updates for authors and staff will be sent through this list. We apologize if this list's larger e-mail volume in the past forced anyone to leave, and we ask you do resubscribe. Send me an e-mail right away, and I will get that invite over to you.

Also, Sinful Moments Press authors, as you will note, your staff update loop will be combined with the other two imprints.

We also have a Sinful Moments Press page over at Facebook now, if any erotic romance readers and authors would like to fan us:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kingston-NS/Sinful-Moments-Press/21560366335

That is all for now. Have a great day!

The Rise and Falling Out of Saint Leslie of Security

The United States of America has fragmented under the pressures of terrorism and religion. Christian and American heritages have merged into one mythology.

Presidents are referred to as Father Washington, and considered God's mortal avatar.

Cyborg security agent Leslie thwarts an Atheist assassination attempt, Congress awards her official Sainthood. From the outside, her future couldn't look better: She's a hero, an instant celebrity. But on the inside, Leslie is miserable.

Leslie's memory has been artificially suppressed, her supervisor has impregnated her, and her own organization is spying on her. Her only friend is her talking gun -- and she'll lose that after the beatification.

Commiting herself to investigate the Atheists, Leslie unknowingly casts herself into a discovery of her concealled past that threatens to bring down the very man she saved. For the Atheists are led by "The Antichrist", an illegal clone of Father Washington, hell bent on one objective: the destruction of the U.S.'s Theocracy.

Will Leslie survive her own awakening?

About the Author: Although new on the science fiction scene, Andrew Tisbert has been nominated for the Sidewise Award for Alternate History alongside such luminaries as Harry Turtledove and Paul Reed. His fiction has appeared in Paradox Magazine, Talebones, Son and Foe and the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future anthology. Originally from Vermont and Upstate New York, a series of dubious decisions have left him currently exiled in Los Angeles, where he divides his time performing as a flutist in an alternative metal rock band, finishing his next two novels, arguing politics and working with the homeless.

Author Feedback on Working with Lachesis / LBF

From Ginger Simpson, LBF Books author of Embezzled Love.

My own little stock of Embezzled Love arrived in the mail today. Now that I've quit hugging it and can type, I wanted to share. I'm so thrilled with the high-quality appearance. I have six other books out, and they pale in comparison to this cover and binding. I have to say this was well worth the wait. I'm over the moon happy with the final product and I hope all those who enjoy my readers will order their own copies and delight along with me.

Lachesis: Stone Masters A Vampire’s Reckoning -- Review

Stone Masters A Vampire's Reckoning --- Review

"This is one of the best novels of the undead that I've read in ages – and I've read a lot of them!  It's elegantly and impressively written, and the author weaves her compelling tale back and forth between the centuries as effortlessly as a vampire steals a kiss.  The characters, human and other, are fully realized and even the most monstrous among them is driven by all-too-human emotions and desires.  The highest praise I can give Stone Masters is that the author is now on my "must read" list.  I can't wait for her next book."

Returning to Fort Atkinson in the summer, George sells a small bag of gold to a sutler, which brings out deep greed in more than one man who witnesses the exchange. For centuries, they have loved in many past lives and, for centuries, their love affairs ended abruptly, with Julian's brutal death. The pattern will continue unless they can figure out a way to stop the cycle. To do that, they must figure out when and how Julian will die.

Will this return to life be their salvation, or will it end in another bloodbath?

Who was this woman? Why was she killed? And could her death be linked to a seventeenth century landmark on Warlock Hill, where a priest died on the gallows?

As Fiona digs deep into the past, she begins to uncover the story of her family's blood-soaked history in England and Ireland. And the closer she gets to the truth about the dead woman, the more the past comes back to haunt her, putting her own life in terrible danger.

Support Clive Barker and the Midnight Meat Train!
Current mood: annoyed
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

If you are a diehard Barker fan as I am, this will annoy you. Support Clive and his work, and let's try and get The Midnight Meat Train the release it deserves. Horror is not wimpy PG-13 all the time, folks. We need variety. And when did we become such wimps? Yes, I am not a fan of gore without purpose, but the gore and story Clive Barker can wrap together create a gut-wrenching tale, indeed. Let the horror people police themselves, and let us decide what is too brutal for us to see in the theater by simply choosing not to attend. Support Clive and The Midnight Meat Train!

Horror fans, take note... in a time when a PG-13 'Prom Night' remake tops the box office, but movies like 'Trick 'r Treat' and this one struggle to even get released, these are getting to be worrying times for our beloved genre.

This is a damn shame. I'm sure most of you have read this piece of news already. It's pretty apparent that Lionsgate isn't going to give this film the wide release that we've all been expecting. Now they're trying to rush it for the DVD release. Hopefully, we can help make a difference. We want everybody to have a chance to see this baby on the big screen.

Here's the plea from Clive Barker Himself:

http://www. clivebarker. info/newssavemmt. html

"My Dear Friends,
As you may or may not have heard, due to certain politics, "Midnight Meat Train" is in danger of Lionsgate not giving it a wide release. The below email was brought to my attention earlier today and shows a movement, of sorts, in order to get the picture the proper support and release it deserves. I'm asking you to please help spread the word in order for all to enjoy this film. I want to passionately encourage everybody who cares about my work to use this chance to change the minds of the folks at Lionsgate. I'm excited at the prospect of a movement of people who care deeply enough to initiate a campaign such as this.

Anything any of you can do - be it emails, web postings, word of mouth, and the like - to help encourage this movement would be deeply appreciated. The film is worth the effort in my mind, and I do not want to see my work fall by the wayside.

If any of you have any further ideas, thoughts, or suggestions to help with this effort, please let me know. Thanks, as always, for your help and support.

"

Much Love,
Clive
